What camp are you in? Manual or Auto White Balance. I won't judge! 😜
fast photo report using WB on auto, because of moving in different places can be annoying to change it all the time, but art photo always manual
If the white balance is measured in kelvin, then 7000 degrees (bluer image) is hotter than 2000 degrees (redder image). So saying "an image is warm" should be bluer one. But somehow we refer to a warm image as the one being redder (having warmer tones).
Awesome video and explanation!
Now you don't need to be afraid of Auto White Balance :P
Great explanation dude, keep up the good work💪🏼
WB and ISO are usually on Auto, the rest - Manual. Thanks for the thorough and clear explanation.✨
That's a solid strategy!
I use manual white balance when I want to record the camera's interpretation of the lighting, then in Lightroom I have it set to show the image as shot for WB. This gives me a starting point, and a record of the shooting conditions that become cloudy in memory over time. I find that as I learn more I will revisit older images to see if I can improve on the editing.
Hi Anthony, glad I find your channel here! So I am really curious about if there is a specific order / priority in which Lightroom will use / approach color in your image using the the different panels to adjust color. For example does white balance has affect on color calibration and change the way how calibration will work, or has it no affect at all or visa versa?
You're exactly right. All the tools and connected. The best way to think of it is top to bottom as it's laid-out in Lightroom; White balance should almost always be the first thing you adjust since it affects HSL / Tone curves etc... The answer is a bit more nuanced than that, but hopefully this helps a bit!
@@AnthonyGugliotta thanks for sharing. Maybe I nice topic for another video to get deeper into that topic? :) really interested in that :)

When you thought you master ISO, Aperture, Shutterspeed, rule of third, compositions, then....
White balance: Hold up.
That is why I can never achieve colors that other youtubers do.. I always thought my camera is limited to what the image quality and color it brings... I always thought that it has something to do with having a better and more expensive camera. To get the colors you want because most Photographers always emphasize the raw colors they see when they take a picture.
Wow just wow... after mastering White Balance, all your images will look freaken professional.
