Two little hints from an old woman. ;-) Next time you're in a thrift store pick up an old tennis, or badminton, racket and then when it's time to get the dust out of your rugs, sling them over the line and use the racket to beat the dust out. That's how my grandmothers used to do it. Another way to get the sticky remnants of labels off jars and bottles is to drop a little vegetable oil on them and then just rub the glue and paper off with a rag. Your home sparkles! You've done a great job. Do you think you'll ever have someone else stay in the other cottage? I'm thinking a friend, not a fan. ;-)
Oh my gosh - both of your tips will help me out so much! I detest any kind of label left stuck on anything. And I save all my empty jars because they are so useful. The oil trick is going to save me so much time and effort. To date I’ve had a whole system of soaking cotton balls in rubbing alcohol and letting them sit on the sticker until is slides off. Works really well, except on the adhesives it doesn’t - then it’s just a mess. I’m a bit bummed out because on Saturday I passes up an entire stack of 30 year old tennis rackets I found at a local estate/house sale...coulda had the whole stack for free, because the siblings that were selling their deceased parents possessions were so good and amazing. We chatted like we had always been friends and just like that, I made 3 new amazing friends. Life is awesome. Think I’ll call the sister in the bunch and ask about if a tennis racket was left. Lol
The little walkway looks so cute with all the plants grown up around it! If you don't want a monoculture of only tansy (the yellow buttons), you might want to pull them out or at least cut them so they don't go to seed. They are cute but will take over & you'll lose some of your other flowers to their world domination plans. Tie them in a bundle and hang to dry in your cottage! Mice don't like the smell.
Some of the yellow flowered plants are goldenrod, which is native. They have the feathery seed head. Double checked and yes, yellow button like seedhead looks like tansy, an invasive species. Chop, chop it down.
I am in the process of painting all the honey oak in my 1996 built home. All because of you. I feel excited and fearless doing it. All because of you. I have hated this orange wood since I moved in 5 years ago and I am finally doing something about it. I crank my favorite tunes(similar to yours), pour a cup of coffee or a glass of wine and just paint, dance and sing, and I love it so much. All because of you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Never underestimate the courage you give others..
Yes! I love her outfits, love her decor, the bathroom curtain door and lower cupboards material that she made sewing on the floor! Her plants are so healthy and beautiful:)
I so do this exact same thing, but never more so than lately. Always thought I was so weird for it, but seeing Hannah do it like it’s so *normal* makes me feel like there isn’t anything wrong with me doing it after all. Wowsa...so much freedom in that for me. 🐞🌻🐞
Hanna, Just wondering if you have considered adding some insulation to the outside walls somehow? I know last year you went through the wood that you had stocked up really fast when the cold weather set in, and if you could insulate the walls even a little, it might mean that you could stay a little longer and make the wood last a little longer. Just a thought for you.
Hannah, if you pour the bucket of water directly into the toilet bowl part from about the height of the back of the toilet, it will flush itself and you don’t have to keep taking the back off.
...and she will have pee and shit splashing everywhere. There's a reason why the toilet lid exist; it's not meant for you to sit on, it's there to keep bacteria from flying all over your bathroom.
What gimpy1136 said. Pour the bucket of water right into the toilet bowl and it automatically "flushes." 🥰 Also use your broom to bang the sh*t out of your rug while it's hanging on the line. We used to have to do that for my grandmother all the time. ♥️ Dust will fly, but not all of it on you.
Hannah, we have a seasonal cabin in Northern Minnesota. Did you know that all you have to do is pour the water in the actual toilet and once you’ve poured enough water in, it automatically flush’s!? You don’t have to pour it in the back and use the handle to flush. Also when in Honduras, the toilets are the same as yours. However, they have a cistern of water in the few public bathrooms (near the bus stops) and a bucket and you just pour in the toilet, making it not a pain in the butt at all (no pun intended)😂. In Honduras, we don’t put toilet paper in the toilet, but in a garbage can and empty daily or as needed. Not gross at all. Just bag your garbage and clean as needed. Hope this helps, especially since you put the shelf so close to the top of the toilet that you won’t be able to pour a bucket of water in there.
YES! In Eastern Canada, when the power goes out during a snow storm and our well water pumps don’t work in the power outages, we ALWAYS kept a bucket of water in the bathtub for just such a purpose! You don’t need the whole bucket, just a litre or so, poured quickly. We’d always be running our water off, first snowflakes of a forecasted snowstorm. 🤷♀️🤣🇨🇦
It is not only in Honduras that the toilet paper is thrown in can, I live in PA and we do that to protect the sewer pipes. We rather deal with changing bags than having water toilet backing into the house. But good advise.
Someone needs to thank your parents for raising such a strong woman! You are definitely an inspiration to all the ladies. You should be very proud of you! 💪🏻
I would still love to see a cute little vegetable garden next spring, I just think it would be fun to see you have a little garden you pick your vegetables from as you learn to cook more
That is such a great idea! In some old video she did mention that she doesn't go through certain projects because she gets distracted by doing something else [Dancing or Singing or both].😄 It would be great if she did add a herb garden to her to-do list and went through with it. Something she can have outdoors and indoors (a movable box) so she can cook wherever she decides. It would be fun! I hope Hannah sees your comment and puts it on a future project list.
I've learned that your environment can really shape how you feel. I unintentionally put myself in social circles that left me feeling like my day to day (mostly weekend because I work a traditional day job 9-5) space shaping/improvement activities were weird or extra. No one ever actually said that but it was just like seen as sort of me as creating more work. I enjoy changing my space to fit my needs and your videos of all your space transformations make me feel less 'alone'. Thank you.
They say we all have a book in us - yours could be "The Hannah Lee Duggan guide to home renovating and decorating whilst listening to your favourite musicals".
Dear Hannah , 🧡 You don't know how inspirational person are you . 🧡 When i watch your videos i feel like super encouraged and full of power . You make me really energetic to do what i want and stop procrastinating. You made me feel grateful to ward small things like nature , music family and friends when i had mis_conception of this world (that happiness and success lie in big material things ) , so i would like to say Thank you . Hope for you absolutely nothing but happiness, good health and peace of mind 🧡 Love you 🧡
Give yourself some grace Hannah! You keep saying how unproductive you feel, but you got so much done! And you kept pushing to do more. Give yourself some credit and look at what you accomplished, instead of feeling defeated by what you didn't get done right away. A change of perspective can be a big boost to your happiness.
Right. There's no time frame on success. Who said everything had to get done in 10 minutes? a day? two days? It's less daunting when we break it up into segments and just focus on the job in front of us. That's why they say "The most important job is the one at hand."
Great job on cleaning your home thoroughly. It’s easy to let it escape especially when you’re single and live alone. I do the same thing as well. Working at the hospital 13 hour shifts

U R the cutest, love your dancing, singing (which happens to be very, very good) love what pops out of your mouth, love how entertaining you are, love watching your thought process, you style choices, etc, etc .. Just love you !!!
Oh my goodness, I started watching this video and seeing the loo indoors ( Even though its not finished) and thought to myself I wonder if the previous owners has been watching and seeing the transformation that you have done there?? Glad I am not the only crazy person who loves music and dances whilst cleaning. I have always done it but you go above and beyond when you do it.. In a nice way. Anyway just wanted to to say that I had a reading back about 20 years ago and was told that I am restless because of moving things around all the time in my home. I would change my room around every month or so.. Now I am 58 with an amazing husband for the past 16 years and no longer move everything as I am settled. It will happen to you one day too. But enjoy doing what you are doing and keeping us all entertain.. You are an inspiration to many Hannah, keep up the great videos. Much love from Wales in the UK
Thank you for not being “fake” as you put it. I am about to journey to a cabin in NY soon …. Just for a few weeks..I am excited as I’ve spent my life always wanting to do a solo adventure .. I love watching your videos …. Although, I’m much older than you, You are one of my inspirations! Thank you for your beautiful postings
Me too!!! Seriously keep watching...it really just keeps helping. I find myself relaxing so much that when I hit repeat at the end...I laugh even harder at the qwirky-ness of it. It’s great! Say...have you watched Isabel Paige? Seriously just as amazing, in her very own unique way! There is also Justin Rhodes and family...if you like farming, sustainability, etc. then you may find them helpful to watch also. 😊
Love your DIY projects but you also asked for inputs. As a minimalist, I say too many shelves in the bathroom. More shelves, more dusting. But hey, only you know your storage needs. Love the shelf & mirror over the toilet. And for those of us on septic systems & wells, when the power goes out, we fill the tank with water stored in jugs for that very reason. Just slightly inconvenient. The outhouse works in good weather! Look for an old time rug beater!
Great video, I read a book called "Simple Abundance" and she changed House work into HOUSE CARE and wow what a difference that makes for me...I light incense, turn on all the lights, put music on random and imagine it is messages for my Soul from the lyrics and dance about while cleansing imagining I am clearing away dirt and negative/stale energy and creating space for the new ideas or things I need after letting go of the old ..always makes such a huge difference ..and usually takes a day a room ... thanks Hannah for these great videos and ideas ..I realised at the age of 60 I have never used a power tool gasp!! I am going to look a project so I can give it a go !
A bathroom trashcan is the exact amount of water you need to flush the toliet . I love all your places of residence. You really just know how to pull a space together. I would never want to leave its that perfect. Also the music is the best always gets me dancing and dancing is more neccessary than breathing. Singing too is a cure for depression.
Hi Hannah! Actually it looked perfect, when the drawer was not pushed underneath. 🙂It's really beautiful and should stay the lighter color. It brings a great, classy contrast to your couch/bed. ❤️
@@tinyshinystar8458 Two drawers would not look as good. It looks too common, because it's always two drawers. 😉 It brings more dynamic into the design. The one drawer also should not be placed in the middle, but exactly the way she did it, before pushing it back. 😊
@@tinyshinystar8458 That was my thought, too. I think both would fit perfectly under there, and if she left them pulled forward, we could see the pretty wood they're made of and she could easily build a cover for them to keep the dust out. This gives me ideas for a space on my veranda that would be a great place for a daybed like Hannah's.
This is exactly how I clean. At least when I’ve not been so busy working during very confusing times. Part of the reason I am so blown away...never knew anyone really did things like I do. I just came to accept long ago that I did things differently and that it was just okay.
Bathroom looks really good. Love what you've done to your cabin/cottage home. You are an inspiration to women who need a change a new beginning or just prove to themselves it's possible to be independent and free to live life on your own terms.
I wish I had a cottage to escape the craziness of our world! Hannah, thank you for sharing your world with us. Your independence and your positive outlook on life is so inspiring…even for me…a middle aged mother of teenage girls. I love losing myself once a week in your videos. Thank you :)
I feel the same. I'm 51. She is an inspiration to ALL women (young, old, moms, not-moms, etc.) We all need a Hannah Cottage and successful trip to the Thrift Store. ;)
Ya know...I have the feeling that it isn’t about *where* you are...in the woods in a cabin just happens to be where Hannah is, at the moment anyway. I feel like just about Anyone could get started, wherever you happen to be. Grow some roots right where you are...even if wherever you are right now is temporary. The where isn’t important...doing things that are good and healthy for yourself are. ❤️
Love how she cleans the house out with a glass of wine 🍷 love it and love you and your amazing channel please stay safe love your Australia fan John xxxx
I used to clean my whole house in 3 days. It was super therapeutic. I would dance around also. It was totally exhausting tho. I totally know how you feel.. Yesterday I cleaned out my mudroom and the closet in it. Took all day. But it's done and it feels great. I think you did a great job!
Me and thw hubby found your content a couple weeks ago and hav fallen in live with your videos. We binge watched all day and we look forward to every single new episode. Thanks for all you do cause girl... it's not an easy thing to be this creative and successful! 👏🥳
You are so fun to watch with your eclectic tastes in music (much like my own) and all your little projects around the cabin. I told my wife that I am envious of your property, sloping kitchen floor and all! You've done a great job!
next time you need to beat the rug out set it up on the line like you did, grab a broom and stand back while you use the broom to hit the rug so you can get some distance from it and the dust.
As a Virgo I approve of this cleaning video 😅🙌🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🤩 I love cleaning because you get so much out of it in the end! It’s always worth it for me, and I love all the (Lil’ or big) projects, & redecorating that you’re constantly doing!!! Cottage life is amazing, & so are you!! Much love from northern Cali! 💞💞💞
Watching you cleaning your beautiful cottage while enjoying music and being so chaotic is so entertaining, I love it💜 I can't wait for the cottage tour🙌
When you first moved in I admit I had my doubts, but every week I love it more and more! You have made it so home-y and lovely. Can’t wait to see what next week brings!
I love your vlogs so inspiring and ur so creative... I love how u make ur cabin so nice and beautiful and aside for being pretty u are a very positive and determine person. Stay safe and be blessed!❤️
i’m nit gumna lie i used to watch you videos every single day and i was obsessed with your channel, you convinced me after in and off thought for years that i do indeed want to live in a van (along with a cottage ofc) but i somehow forgot about you for like two months!!! i missed so much i feel like! and ironically it was the most summery and funnest time of the year, which is when i was most excited to watch your channel anyways, GOOD TO BE BACK
You are such a joy to watch. Always brightens this disabled heart, lol! Wish I could spend every day just hanging out with you. The cottage looks amazing, and love your eye for decoration :) Huggs a bunches, and you just Roc Soxs!
Good for you, your cottage looks great, it’s so coming together a d can’t wait to see the tour! Ironically, your place looks fab and I’m procrastinating about cleaning/rearranging my own off grid cabin. The fun never ends, enjoy! ❤️🇨🇦
I reuse bottles too. If you have a blow dryer, you can use it to get the labels off of bottles, by gently warming the label and slowly peeling it off. It will often come off all in one piece, along with the glue and won't leave any residue. Love your videos!
Gotta say...I’ve done a ton of stuff in life (gotta stay occupied ya know), but I’ve never built shelves. Now I’m looking all over my house for where I can put some, cuz Hannah makes it look so easy, that now I know I could do it too. So excited!
Hannah, I just cannot tell you how much I enjoy your videos. You are like a breath of fresh air so inspiring. You entertain me, you motivate me, you allow me to live vicariously thru you. PLEASE, don’t ever tire of doing what you do!❤️
Donna Sheridan vibes ❤ I'm living for this!!! Been binge-watching for the past two weeks and I just can’t get enough of you and your content. You really inspire me!
Like your choices! That looks like a really neat make up place with lots of space for your goodies. And I love that curtain over the door that gives you privacy. Good job!
Morning coffee and your unique Hannah-content makes me kinda appreciate this whole Soul-Having-a-human-experience a lot more. Spending some of my lifetime watching you living your lifetime, kinda strange but sooooo inspiring and soothing. Thank you thank you thank you 🌸💕🕊
This is genuinely the most authentic and inspiring video I've seen lately. Thank you for showing a glimpse into your life, I love your chaotic personality, I didn't want this to end 😁
Love that Molly edits! I know if I was editing my sisters videos, I would put the goofiest parts of her in! Why Hannah’s videos have been so hilarious lately! 😆😆
Love the last room you were in. The back sun room, with the electrical panel box is concerning. You need to get that room buttoned up with insulation, ship lap and new siding. Concerned for your safety. Please be careful.
I used to soak my labels off jars too. Now I usually use a hairdryer to heat the adhesive and peel them off. Then if it doesn’t go as expected I go back the old faithful soak and scrub. House looks great! Love your style.
Two little hints from an old woman. ;-)
Next time you're in a thrift store pick up an old tennis, or badminton, racket and then when it's time to get the dust out of your rugs, sling them over the line and use the racket to beat the dust out.
I'm thinking a friend, not a fan. ;-)
YES.
Go for the tennis racket so you can beat them mercilessly. I can see a bent badminton racket already and it would never stand up to your wrath.
Cool tips.

I love watching your videos …. Although, I’m much older than you, You are one of my inspirations! Thank you for your beautiful postings
Your cabin is soo soo cozy!! Love the color of the wood, the stones around the fireplace.. oh wow! And all the plants... really love it :)
I don’t know why, and how, but watching u is saving me from loneliness and anxiety. 🥺
Me too!❤
Same❤
Me too, really.
Omg really..
"how do we like these shelves" not me responding outloud like it'll actually matter
I cleaned my room while watching you clean and it honestly felt like I had a cleaning buddy 😂
You missed a spot in the living room in the corner. :-P
Excuseme 🙏
@@tortillasarenotbiceps7622 👍👍👍☺
What a great idea!
I think you may be on to a whole new virtual business opp:-)
Never a dull moment Hannah, that was probably the most entertaining cleaning I've ever watched HA!!
Hhello friend
My gosh, that’s how I felt about this whole video too. So great. 😃
You inspire me to just do things even if they are not perfectly planned or perfect!
My thoughts exactly! When Hannah pushed it all the way back I was yelling No No No, Hannah! 🤪
I'm curious if both drawers would fit, that would be so cute
@@debrafreake4759
Let's hope this convinces her, because she really has excellent taste.
It's awesome what she made out of it. :)
@@tinyshinystar8458
Two drawers would not look as good. It looks too common, because it's always two drawers. 😉
It brings more dynamic into the design.
This isn’t cleaning, this is something on a whole other level 😄
Foreal! She moved everything out of every room. Thats even deeper cleaning than I thought deep cleaning was 🤣 lol
@@jessicaraye hahaha right! 😂
The yearly deep clean
And everything she does is like that. Even just walking across the room or making spaghetti...lol
This is exactly how I clean. At least when I’ve not been so busy working during very confusing times. Part of the reason I am so blown away...never knew anyone really did things like I do. I just came to accept long ago that I did things differently and that it was just okay.
These are my favorite, love when I can see you enjoying the nest, it inspires me.
Just have to say, that big mirror from your living room that went into your porch is EVERYTHING! It is Gorgeous!
It’s a great mirror.
Everything about this video or even your channel in general is always so peaceful and beautiful to me🖤🥺
What a sweet, cozy oasis! You have a vibe all your own! Thanks for sharing with us all. 💜☺️✌🏼
If Hannah lugging around that damn gigantic mirror trying to decide where to put it isn't a metaphor for my whole life, I don't know what is.
lol...probably most of us. Besides that though, I want a mirror like that.
Awesome analysis.
😂 Best.comment.Ever. Lol
Love how she cleans the house out with a glass of wine 🍷 love it and love you and your amazing channel please stay safe love your Australia fan John xxxx
Truly, thank you for sharing your life with us! It's endearing and funny to watch you. Hands down my favorite RUclipsr.
I totally love how the deep cleaning times became a shelving show.
I used to clean my whole house in 3 days. It was super therapeutic. I would dance around also. It was totally exhausting tho. I totally know how you feel.. Yesterday I cleaned out my mudroom and the closet in it. Took all day. But it's done and it feels great. I think you did a great job!
You’re so purdy. And your videos make my heart smile. 😄 So motivated to build something.
Me and thw hubby found your content a couple weeks ago and hav fallen in live with your videos. We binge watched all day and we look forward to every single new episode. Thanks for all you do cause girl... it's not an easy thing to be this creative and successful! 👏🥳
you are such an inspiration hannah 💕
after college i want to move off grid and explore the world.
This is my comfort place! ✨ also the life i want to live 💛🌻
You are so fun to watch with your eclectic tastes in music (much like my own) and all your little projects around the cabin. I told my wife that I am envious of your property, sloping kitchen floor and all! You've done a great job!
please know that you inspire me to be a happier person 💗 thank you for sharing your beautiful life with us.
I dont care what you do, I just enjoy "spending time" at your cottage.
Yuuuup
Same here 😘😀💜
Yes 😀😀😀
next time you need to beat the rug out set it up on the line like you did, grab a broom and stand back while you use the broom to hit the rug so you can get some distance from it and the dust.
Hannah you are a true treasure and inspiration to all free spirits and those who wish they could be. Please never stop being you❤️❤️❤️
Watching you cleaning your beautiful cottage while enjoying music and being so chaotic is so entertaining, I love it💜
I can't wait for the cottage tour🙌
When you first moved in I admit I had my doubts, but every week I love it more and more! You have made it so home-y and lovely. Can’t wait to see what next week brings!
I love your vlogs so inspiring and ur so creative... I love how u make ur cabin so nice and beautiful and aside for being pretty u are a very positive and determine person. Stay safe and be blessed!❤️
Motivational! It’s cleaning time! 🧹 Love your videos, Hannah 💕
I love your decor the mirror in the bathroom is perfect as is that gorgeous big mirror placement in the porch area. 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
And she’s back doing amazing things with tools, you’re such an inspiration cause I’m building a cottage very soon ! 😻
i’m nit gumna lie i used to watch you videos every single day and i was obsessed with your channel, you convinced me after in and off thought for years that i do indeed want to live in a van (along with a cottage ofc) but i somehow forgot about you for like two months!!! i missed so much i feel like! and ironically it was the most summery and funnest time of the year, which is when i was most excited to watch your channel
anyways, GOOD TO BE BACK
You are such a joy to watch. Always brightens this disabled heart, lol! Wish I could spend every day just hanging out with you. The cottage looks amazing, and love your eye for decoration :) Huggs a bunches, and you just Roc Soxs!
Just pour the water in the bowl, it will still flush
She knows? That's what she says she's doing?
🙄
@@eggmarmalade no she pours it in the top, that’s why she has to remove the lid
@@marlou.w Which she’s now unable to do since she put that stupid shelf inches above the tank! 😂
@@mengmania did you not see her measuring the shelf and talking about how she needs to leave room so she can take it off? seriously.
Awesome job I just love your cabin! The transformation from when you first got it to now is like night and day, truly beautiful
"why do I own so many shoes, i don't have nearly this many feet" love how you made that into a song😂😄
WOW!!! Best part of this video is the box over the fuse box, love that idea, would have never thought of it, EXCELLENT!!!👍❤️✌️
Good for you, your cottage looks great, it’s so coming together a d can’t wait to see the tour! Ironically, your place looks fab and I’m procrastinating about cleaning/rearranging my own off grid cabin. The fun never ends, enjoy!
❤️🇨🇦
Hannah elbowing the lamp then apologizing to it is such a mood though.
So excited!
Omg, I lost it at 'this is interactive content now, answer aloud.'
Thank you thank you thank you 🌸💕🕊
Why would you dislike this video? It’s so wholesome.. as always 💛
This is genuinely the most authentic and inspiring video I've seen lately. Thank you for showing a glimpse into your life, I love your chaotic personality, I didn't want this to end 😁
I just love your little sanctuary Hannah !!! Love you 😽
Love that Molly edits!
Yeah!!!! She drove Walter! He must have been so happy working again.
I used to soak my labels off jars too. Now I usually use a hairdryer to heat the adhesive and peel them off. Then if it doesn’t go as expected I go back the old faithful soak and scrub. House looks great! Love your style.
I love how she loves her wine! 🍷 It makes cleaning much more fun!!!😁
