    I just picked up a used La Sal frame. Can’t wait to start the build! Currently riding the Cascade Peak.

    Awesome video! I just bought this same bike and can't wait to ride it. I was thinking about the crankbrothers stamp pedals but the OneUps look sick on it

      Thanks! For flats I don’t think you can beat the OneUps. But, it’s a personal preference, like everything else. When your body touches a component constantly it’s important to find what’s right for you. But everyone I know who has OneUp, including me, has no complaints! 🤙🏼

      @@midlifeshredder I currently have some red Composite flats on my current bike and wanted to switch it up a bit. I also run the Maguras but with Shimano levers. It's called Shigura. Are those the MT5s or MT7s you have? I didn't like the feel on the levers on my MT5s so that's why I swapped the levers. I like my brakes snappy.

      Funny, shiguras!
      I have a little franken-gura happening with me too. I’m using MT5 masters with the HC1 levers and MT7 calipers. I have since switched out the pro pads for the comfort pads in the front calipers and that’s been feeling great. Keeping the pro pads in the rear for now.

    Pretty cool man. I was sufficiently mesmerized by the whole thing.

    Nice vid. Very soothing to watch for someone who enjoys working on bikes, like me. One critique, though: You need to match up the logos on the front wheel like those on the rear.

    • @midlifeshredder

      Thanks Michael. Yes, we knew they weren’t matched but forgot to align them up before shooting. That’s one of several flubs in the vid. 😉

    Hi great video, I have a Abajo and I am 64 I am thinking about going to the La Sal Peak how does the ride feel compared to the Abajo?

    • @midlifeshredder
      @midlifeshredder  2 года назад

      It’s a longer and more slack. You feel more in the bike when you’re doing more enduro type trails. But the Abajo felt more playful to me. So it’s a little bit of a trade-off depending on what type of trails you ride and how hard you like to push it.

    Awesome!! Such a beautiful build!! Couple quick questions for you: how are you liking the oneup bars? Can you feel the difference compared to standard alloy bars? And 2nd, what grease is he using?

    • @midlifeshredder
      @midlifeshredder  3 года назад +1

      Love the OneUp bars, love the flex and best feeling bars I’ve had, definitely feel a difference over some alloys I’ve had. And Gene uses Park Polylube PPL-1

    Looks like your rear brake rotor is too small. Only outer edge of the rotor is engaging the center of the brake pads

    • @midlifeshredder
      @midlifeshredder  3 года назад

      203mm is working great!

    • @Illtakeakersakerslight
      @Illtakeakersakerslight 3 года назад

      @@midlifeshredder uhhh yea, skip to 24:09 of YOUR video, that rotor is too small for whatever size a la sal peak is speccd for. looks like a 160 rotor on a 180 min post mount. im starring at the video paused at 24:09. no big deal, just own it. theres a lot of pitfalls when building bikes, you did a fine job with the video, just pause it at 24:09 and tell me thats normal... your front brake rotor is perfectly centered where the brake pads will engage, but not the rear.

    • @midlifeshredder
      @midlifeshredder  3 года назад

      Ah, I see what you're looking at. It was actually the caliper mount. When we built the bike we mistakenly added the 40 mil rise caliper adapter when it should have been the 23 mil rise. They are 203mm rotors it just had the wrong adapter which made the caliper look raised up too much. We've since replaced it with the correct adapter. The La Sal rear mount accepts 180 rotors for the rear minimum.
