Luis Finol - FIBA U-15 South American Championships Highlights

Feature on one of the best guards in Colombia (and, in Venezuela too), Luis Finol (2007 - PG - 6'0), representing his family's origins for the Colombian youth national team.
The speed merchant has been developing in Colombia since moving from Maracaibo, Zulia state, where he was born and raised until the age of thirteen. Venezuela forfeited the event due to alleged budget constraints, thus opening the door for Finol to make the easy choice of donning the yellow jersey. Standout showing for the "maracucho", leading not only his team but the entire competition in scoring to the tune of 19.6 PPG, with an impressive 55% in 2FG, while also being 2nd overall in assists - averaged 3.2 APG. He rounded out the personal stat line with 4.4 RPG, 2.4 SPG per contest; Colombia finished fifth out of the eight-team pool.
Finol is probably the most promising backcourt talent appearance in years, since Hansel Atencia and even Braian Angola before him. The shifty player owning an explosive first step an a nose for scoring almost at will near the rim at this level, must also work on his jumper as well as his defensive approach. He is set to continue his development abroad soon.

El velocista se ha ido desarrollando en Colombia desde que se mudó de Maracaibo, estado Zulia, donde nació y se crió hasta los trece años. La Federación de Venezuela decidió dar forfeit al evento debido a supuestas limitaciones presupuestarias, lo que abrió la puerta para que Finol tomara la decisión fácil de ponerse la camiseta amarilla. Destacada actuación para el "maracucho", liderando no solo a su equipo sino a toda la competencia en anotación con una suma de 19.6 puntos por partido, con un impresionante 55% en C2, mientras que también fue segundo en la tabla general en asistencias, con un promedio de 3.2 asistencias por cotejo. Completó la línea de estadísticas personales con 4.4 rebotes, 2.4 robos de pelota por juego; Colombia terminó quinto de un grupo de ocho equipos.
Finol es probablemente la aparición de talento perimetral más prometedora en años en dicho país, desde Hansel Atencia e incluso Braian Angola antes que él. El elusivo jugador que posee un primer paso de élite y un olfato natural para finalizar cerca del canasto, también debe trabajar en su lanzamiento así como también en su defensa. Este se prepara para continuar su desarrollo en el extranjero pronto.
