'Moscow wants to signal that Estonia is not a real country': Estonian PM Kallas • FRANCE 24 English

  • Estonia's prime minister insists there is a crisis in European defence that needs to be solved now. Kaja Kallas tells Talking Europe that private funding for the acquisition of lethal weapons is blocked, which means the "vibrant" tech sector cannot be engaged. She also urges EU members to consider jointly raising capital on the markets to help Ukraine, which she says will be cheaper than doing so individually. We also discuss Russia putting Kallas on a "wanted" list over the removal or destruction of Soviet-era monuments in Estonia. By invoking Russian domestic laws that don't apply in Estonia, the Kremlin is signalling that "Estonia is not a real country", Kallas says.

Prime Minister Kaja Kallas is a great example of class, strong, intelligent & compassionate leadership. She would be a great candidate along with Lithuanian Foreign Minister, Gabrielius Landsbergis, for NATO Secretary General.
Unfortunate, western Europe ignored every American president since the 1950 telling Europe it must invest more in defense. When President Trump said the same during his presidency, most of Europe called him divisive and threatening NATO's security. Even though this hot war in Europe burned since 2014, it took 10 years for most of Europe to awaken to the growing Russian threat. President Trump put the first American Soldiers in Ukraine, initiated real Ukrainian military & political reforms and lethal military aid.

A primary reason NATO has so slowly recognized the real Russian threat is western European countries have dominated the NATO leadership positions instead former Warsaw pact countries like Poland & Baltic States. The Polish FM will be an excellent influence but until Germany and Western Europe cooperate he will have the same failure rate of most American Presidents since 1950. Should we consider making English the primary language, nothing against any others just thinking of debate, since it is the most widely used language and would help across the whole world those who are young and studying to find better jobs a universal language would make the world come to a better understanding of one another's viewpoints and make the world a smaller place with today's communication worldwide, which is not a bad thing.

It is funny that Europeans communicate with each other using the English of the United States and not that of England, which remained an exotic variant of the English language. Things like this show who owns Europe.
On the issue of the head of NATO, for transparency and realism, that person should always be someone from the United States. Although I understand that they use Europeans for this position so as not to generate resentments, etc.
