  • In this episode, Mark Wallace reveals the secrets to creating and using presets in Lightroom, applying them in real-time while shooting tethered. By adding a second monitor, your model or client can see the images with the preset applied instantly, boosting the model's confidence and giving the client a glimpse of the near-final result. This practical tutorial perfectly complements the "Find The Light" video Mark and Tasi released earlier. Don't miss out on this game-changing technique to enhance your workflow!

      It’s a thunderbolt 3 connection. That monitor also powers the laptop. It’s my favorite external monitor I’ve ever owned. The monitor also has USB-C ports for hard drives and other devices. Click the product link in the description for all the specs.

    I shoot tethered to a large monitor ss well. I do not have the monitor facing the model for the entire shoot. i find too many models are distracted by having the monitor visible. Instead, after we've shot a few images of each setup we'll review them together so we both know what we're capturing. It works for me ... and the models.

    Thanks Mark. Do you have a solution for portrait photography where the camera is placed on the tripod in a portrait position, not horizontal. I want to use the camera full sensor when doing portraits, in portrait view. When tethering, the photos come into lightroom classic in a horizontal view therefore the person in the portrait photo is on their side on my monitor. I need the photos to come into LR via tethering as portrait view. I tried making a preset with the rotate photo function, but this rotate function is not saved in the preset because it is not actioned via the crop toll. Can you help me please?

    • @MarkWallaceVideos
      @MarkWallaceVideos  Месяц назад +1

      Hi Lisa, turning on auto rotate ("rotate tall" on the Nikon D750) should tell LR to rotate the images. I've talked with several Nikon shooters and they haven't had the issues with images not rotating. However, LR does have issues with some Nikon cameras. You may want to take a look at Smart Shooter as it fixes all of those issues.
      Let me know if you get things sorted out!

    Hey mark, i still use my 5d markiv by canon and most of the time (not always) when i start tethering the images are coming into lightroom but after a few shots the camera or lightroom just stops importing. 😑 I use a macbook M3 pro, firmware of the camera is up to date. Just wanted to jump in here with some additional info on this question.
      Smart Shooter 5 will allow you to have the Live View as an independent floating window. That window can then be positioned anywhere on screen, including on a secondary monitor.
      The same is true for any window in Smart Shooter 5. Each can function as a floating window and can be positioned anywhere on screen. Alternately, windows can be docked together for a custom workspace that reflects your preferred layout.
      Hope that helps!

    Extra monitor can be a good, but if the model sees herself, is the final photo her vision of herself and photographer just press the shutter button? Just something to keep in mind.

    • @MarkWallaceVideos
      @MarkWallaceVideos  Месяц назад +2

      It's rarely the final photo when I'm shooting. It's just a reference to help the model understand what's happening and a close approximation of the final image. There's still professional post-production required. Blemish removal, tonality adjustments, etc.
