Looking good would be a nice added functionality for it to also cycle on click I think. So you would either move the mouse and get your effect, or when your mouse is still, you would tap and still be able to cycle through the images. Might be challenging to sync those two states though. This modification night be beneficial for mobile too, since you can just tap through the images.
