Mel Gibson does have a thing for wanting to be tortured in every film.

He must blame himself a lot...

@@greater-runner there are some people who have tried psycho analysing his reasons. One of the more popular stories is this idea that in his own head, he's showing people that torture sucks, and being tortured for the sake of others is worse. The man best known for taking pain and abuse for others is of course, JC. In a way it might attract people towards that faith.
However, I'd argue comparing yourself with the Lamb of God is probably thinking way, way, way too highly of yourself. Fake torture (which is what is happening on camera, nobody is literally gutting the man) to enforce that idea is worse. It's basically using Parlour tricks and standing in for the big man yourself. It's shameless. I don't think He would approve.
Gibson also made several coworkers miserable because of their orientation or because they believe in other faiths. That's just being a bully and that is again far from His message. You win them over with grace, not by bullying.

@@rustomkanishka Interesting point of view... at the end, you talk about Jews and Homosexuals?
I think Mel Gibson is like a "magician" (without wanting to compare the incomparable): he uses his art (as a director, cinematography) to convey his ideas and even if he doesn't do it in the most subtle way, I don't find them extremist for all that.
