    I'm working to try this recipe. I'm on day 8 of making an oat starter and this is first starter I have ever made. I want to share picture of starter to see if I can use it; how can I do this? I asked to be on FB group. I'm pretty sure it's active bc I see new activity in my jar, but I haven't seen huge growth. Just a little at a time. I'm guessing oat can be tricky to work with, but I'm not sure what I'm not doing right since this is first time...

      You can share it with me on the Fresh is Real Facebook page, in the GF Vegan Baking FB Group or Instagram. You can send me a direct message ;)

      Were you able to get your oat starter to revive? If you still have it, remove half the starter in your container/jar before a new feeding especially if it's struggling to get active. Place it somewhere warm but not in the direct sunlight. Oat flour absorbs a lot of water make sure you add enough water to get a thick pancake batter like consistency.

    Can one do this in the oven? Or bread maker? If so what temp and how long would you bake it?

      Hi! You can bake this very simple bread recipe in the oven, for sure! I haven't tried this particular recipe in a bread maker. For the oven, I would bake at 425-450°F. And all depending on if you will be using a Dutch or not I would bake for anywhere between 40 minutes to 55 minutes.

    what can i substitute oat flour for?

    • @FreshisReal
      @FreshisReal  4 года назад

      Hi! For this loaf, it's kind of tricky to change the oat flour because it's one of the main ingredients. And, in this specific recipe the oat flour also helps to bind the dough together because it's sticky. You could play around with substitutions like light buckwheat flour, millet flour, brown rice flour, etc. but you would also need to add one or two starches like arrowroot, tapioca or potato for it to work well. You could take a look at this recipe, it's also a GF sourdough and very simplistic: www.freshisreal.com/gluten-free-sourdough-without-psyllium/

      Hi! If you can use active dry yeast, you should really try this recipe. Many are trying it in the baking group and having great success! Plus, it's really good! www.freshisreal.com/buckwheat-hemp-bread-gf-v/

    Looks good. I only eat toasted bread so it'll probably be fine. i need to wait to go to the store before I can get sorghum flour.

      I like toasting my bread too but when freshly bake it's always so good having slice right away! My youngest loved this bread recipe fresh as a bedtime snack with his favourite spread!
