  • After garage fire started the house on fire from a gas line pointed at the roof, there was a need for plans drawn up here in Montana to not only rebuild the roof system in the garage, but we had an opportunity to add a second story at minimal cost.
Now that we have design in hand, working out the final details of the structure so that we can complete the construction documents and submit for permit.
At Knot Square Design, LLC, base data Butte, Montana, we use 3D modeling to figure out how to structure actually works to ensure an efficient build with minimal change orders, if any at all.
In this video I am addressing the clients with respect to whether or not they would like me to increase the window size in the laundry room or simply close it up. It leads to a breezeway, so there would be no view, but it would provide ventilation.
I am also addressing Cass, a terrific designer with Casey Truss Company out of Billings Montana, as he is very helpful in getting trusses properly designed. Cass is excellent to work with, as he actually watches these videos and helps come up with solutions to some of the difficult problems that we come and crossed in the field.
Finally, I address Dimitri Wright of Cascade Engineering out of Oregon, a longtime friend, old classmate, and very knowledgeable colleague. He is my structural engineer of choice, and has maintained reciprocity into the states. I work in since starting my business in 1996.
These videos are set out to the homeowners and when available, a builder of choice. In this case we are using Nick Kuntz of New Life Construction, who work throughout the western part of Montana.
