Enjoyed your memories. In the sixties we had tent revivals. My dad would preached every night for two or three weeks depending on how the Lord moved in the community. Now days a revival is a three day weekend. Things have changed. But God is the same, just waiting on people to get hungry again. Thanks again for your time.

This is another great one, Mr. Wentzel. Thank you for these stories! My dad was also a tent preaching evangelist during that same time and I grew up in those same kinds of meetings. I remember the atmosphere very well. We had a vinyl tent and when the rain bowed the roof down I often had "broom duty," going around and pushing the tent up so the water would run off. Lots of mosquitoes, lots of sweat! They were different times indeed. I love those photos you showed. Thank you again.

Thanks for the story. I miss listening to my grandmother and mother talk about old times. I wish I had listened better or taped them so I could hear them now that I have ears to listen.

I hear you I wish I could hear my grandparents again tell about things they saw. I am in a spot I don't know what to do with. I still think the way I did as a young man but the times are so different now. I don't understand peoples thinking now a days. Thanks for commenting. See you later

Vacation is nice but there's nothing like our castles! 😉😊😊
We used to have brush arbor, around the clock preching off of a flat bed big rig trailer with a hand made tree branch canapy over head and 20 pigs cut in half long ways on metal racks supported by cinder blocks and a 3 foot around cast iron pot full of black eyed peas with a fire built around the base and corn bread over fires all over and a hug diary milk stainless steal cooler 4 feet high by 10 foot long half full of sweet tea. They were some great times even at 12 years old which was the last one i ever helped with and attended. Thanks for stiring that memory. 😊😊😊😊

I was raise freewill baptist in Ohio. The church is still there for now. My uncle still attends it. They talked about brush arbors meetings. Being that it was southeastern Ohio up against West Virginia there were plenty of people who remembered those days. My grand parents were both from West Virginia one was a family of 11 kids the other a family of 12 kids. My grandmother was born February 10th 1935. They kept her and her twin brother in a shoe box behind the wood burning stove believing they wouldn’t survive. They both did end up surviving up into their 70’s and 80’s. They lived a long hard life. They all walked barefoot to church miles and miles. That is where my grandparents met. Although my grandmother prayed for my grandfather for years he wasn’t saved until he was 50.
