I must say mardani 2 is grossly overlooked by Indian audience. That movie could had competed with Wednesday for a cult classic especially for the villian.
it's not easy to switch someone who eats burgers and pizzas as staple to rice, roti or salad. Similarly Indian audience has somehow been trained to watch certain type of movies, and tv serials. it's easy to appease them with objectifying item numbers and loads of misogyny, but it's dificult to make a good film that also makes numbers - like Dangal. I do think that big stars and directors who have this platform and money should take risks and start investing in projects that change the taste of audience, instead of taking them back to dark ages for profit
the entire movie rests on the shoulders of the male lead. People want to go see a movie not because they've heard it's good or interesting or whatever, they go because it's the latest SRK or Salman or Vijay movie.
That's just tunnel vision. Bollywood is misandrist too. Most comedians areen, they get made fun of their body, villians are men, they'll be thrashed, humiliated and all. Womens are just good human beings, even godly beings, can't do bad things and all.

Lol, excited to hear your opinions on these subject. Bollywood mein sab tika hai but actresses nahi, which is quite sad seeing how so many talented actresses lost their limelight. I still wish that I could see Madhuri Dixit, Sushmita Sen (she's nailing it in OTT), Kajol and many older actresses in a lead role in a mainstream movie. In my opinion, Tabu still has maintained her legacy after all these years.

As much as I agree with both point of views - that audience and filmmakers both are to blame (especially in a modern present time context) there's a point i'd like to add. These filmmakers are the ones who have fed audiences this degrading and misogynistic content from years. The audience have been conditioned to like these types of movies. Basically what i am saying is, one random person from the audience years back didn't go like "are hume to item numbers dekhna hai! sex dekhna hai! violence dekhna hai!" all these ideas originated from filmmakers own disgusting preferences and opinions. These filmmakers were like "apan audience ko violence aur sex dikhayenge! film bik jaye shayad!" so this misogynistic and degrading system was put into place by filmmakers and they were the ones who made the audience build a tolerance for their crap. So they are more at fault.
No it's not. The filmmakers exactly know what they are making. They make these movies keeping in mind the male gaze. They don't know female gaze exactly. That's why there are only few actors in Indian film industry, not just Bollywood who cater towards female gaze. Like Hritik Roshan, Mahesh Babu, etc. But the majority actors in Indian cinema are average looking, in men's eyes and ugly in women's eyes. They sell the dream to average Currys, that they can get beautiful girls to love them for them. They sell this genuine desire of women to majority men in India. Indian filmmakers are very bad at showing the female characters interesting because they are still stuck in their beta magical thinking mind, who believes women should or do like them for their personalities and not their looks and other superior genetic triggers like height. They can't make Hollywood and Korean level movies which have interesting characters, whether it is male or female actors.

I know there will be some bad and fake so called Shiva worshippers, but would the director have guts to show Momins and Christian followers bringing girls to the grapist. No he does not because then he will be at threat in media and maybe in his daily life too. In the first part the lead actress didn't like Rocky when she saw him and he was showing his actions outside the bar to impress her. But suddenly after being kidnapped she liked him, which is possible because of Hybristophilia but the context of this subplot in KGF was love not kidnapping. It's a very bad message to young men who watched the movies. They may not do the same as Rocky did to girls but they will think girls like these kind of guys. Self- 0bjectification by actors looking for a break & actors who are trying to secure their spot & stay relevant is also a consequence of this. You could say, “blame the game, not the player” but they also considerably contribute to the perpetuation of this attitude. Just like how women are one of the pillars of patriarchy.
Tripti dimri got recognition only after she was objectified in animal....and now audience are treating her as " next big thing" meanwhile actors like radhika apte still being great in her job is barely treated as " star" ..so audience is the biggest pillar of patriarchy in cinema......its the " audience" who like seeing this and hence these actresse do such things

A single debate between a Cartoon and Potato isn't going to change a damn. At the end of the day, it's just that one line from the movie Sicario,'" It's business nothing personal.'
As a audience it's our duty to watch both men and women movies to give them equal importance... So as a middle class Indian audience I'm proud to say, I don't do gender bias to watch any movie like at all 😎! I just absolutely loved this debate! Unfortunately my Hindi skills are super weak .. but you explained many things in English as well ^^ I am very thankful that you actually took your time for this critical analyses! Since my childhood I was always bothered by the HUGE age gape between the male and females actors and the sexualization of female characters in Bollywood movies.. I am glad it's changed a lot these days. I think the change started because we Millenials and especially GEN Z grew up and we usually don't like this kinda misogynistic portrayal of female characters. I think our generation seem to be more critical about this (compared to Gen X or Boomers who more or less accepted it..). Hopefully it will get even better in future :)

Baba Ji Rocks ❤ Well we all agree with this that every Industry in the South has a distinct identity on its own:- 1. Telugu:- Represents the diverse culture and is well known for making good commercial flicks, like Ala Vaikunthapuramuloo (2021), Vedam (2010), Gamyam (2008), Bheemla Nayak (2022), Magadheera (2009), Julayi (2012), etc [just ignore Agent (2022)]. 2. Kannada:- Making commercial flicks in a more stylistic way, and when they took risk and make something unique flicks it always hit like Bell Bottom (2019), 777 Charlie (2021), Kirik Party (2016), Avane Srimannarayana (2019), Ulidavaru Kandanthe (2014), Kantara (2022), Sarkari Hi. Pra. Shaale (2018), Garuda Gamana Vrishabha Vahana (2021), Ondu Motteya Kathe (2017), Lucia (2013), etc, but when they played safe it always missed [like Kabzaa (2022)] 3. Malayalam:- Known for its writing and for showcasing some social issues that the media completely ignores, a perfect example:- Mukundan Unni Associates (2023), Jallikattu (2019), Jana Gana Mana (2022), etc. 4. Tamil:- They're perfectly known for making projects that are an amalgamation of both commercial and classy flicks, for example Kaithi (2019), Vikram (2022), Master (2021), Aaranya Kaandam (2011), Super Deluxe (2019), etc [I don't include The Legend (2022), because it's beyond the human creations].
About the age gap i feel , male actor has to build and legacy around him to peak in his career, which is long time time process , with is opposite in the case of female actress, legacy thing doesn't play that much important part , beauty and other materialistic standards come before that's the reason peak of female actress are early in the age compared to male actors.... Problem is people wanna se legacy actor with good looking female actress
That's the thing , actors constantly get movies as lead. How many movies we got with female leads? That even well written? Producers will take Akshya Kumar despite his 10 flop movies . Above that he is still doing movies but look at his female co stars in 90s. Karishma, Maduri, Ash, Raveena all are rarely seen today. That even as young , single 30yr old roles. Meanwhile he is still doing the bachelor roles and has yet to do father role. Actors hv more longevity bcs their career doesn't get hindered by looks, marriage, kids. Producers will use de-age on actors but god forbid if they hv to cast old woman as romantic interest. Sid Anand (War director) said on casting a younger actress for SRK. She will look good. See? That's the mentality.
Who wants to see old men paired against women who are their daughter's age? That's not normal. 5-10 years might be, but more than that makes you look like a creep praying on young girls. It's lustful and perverted
English Vinglish, Dear Zindagi are directec by women. So have better roles. Even in Lust Stories, there is a clear contrast between the stories directed by men vs women
This all makes sense mostly when you think of Bollywood and movies in general as an expression of art with some social interest. It’s not and once you acknowledge that it’s a business like any other, things will start to make sense (not saying they are right). Overall, this all will change for the better once we as a society encourage & help sensible movies to be successful. It all boils down to the quality of content which is the root cause of every problem.
Wonderfully put. The clarity of the video is very impressive. In addition to #DoBetterBollywood, the audience should "Be the change" they want to see in bollywood. #DoBetterMoviegoers.
It's crazy too se how Yogi baba's arguments are super exaggerated (Ranveer was heavily criticised for his nude photoshoot whereas most of the actresses never get criticised for this) meanwhile QT's arguments are so much more sensible (Dear Zindagi was bad) Generally when a man and woman is talking about sexism then opposite happens. Very disappointed by Yogi baba, very impressed by QT.
There is also a thing about directors and producers...many of them are fixed in their stories and dont want to make any variety in their films..and the problem is they are very well known big directors
Salute to you brother you did a wonderful job in this video we need more content like this. This is the dark side of Bollywood in most of the movie women's are just objects to fullfill the fantasies of audience and man lead
At least you talk about this. I didn't see much bollywood movies which are mainly woman centric or movies in which woman are given some real good roles rather than treating them as an object.
Really important topic; but the point of demand and supply I don't agree to completely... when Vidya Balan did Dirty Picture, the audience flooded theatres just for her and the storyline; when people storm to watch Jawan and Pathan, it is not merely because of Shah Rukh Khan, but because the movies are marketed as being something revolutionary as mass masala.... It is upon the makers to make a strong storyline with a female lead and then market it appropriately to draw audience
the entire movie rests on the shoulders of the male lead. People want to go see a movie not because they've heard it's good or interesting or whatever, they go because it's the latest SRK or Salman or Vijay movie.
I love this . A lot of good points were brought up . Along with the sexualization, something that should be talked is the exteemes Bollywood is trying to potray with films like animal which is toxic alpha masculinity while films like thank you for coming / shows like four more shots showing unaccountable brash woman characters. Is this something Bollywood should make more films and let content be content or worry how people will take this and adopt it in real life. For example men becoming more violent in the wrong ways ans women realizing they can do cheat without accepting accountability
Wow! I literally had this idea for a podcast! Having an honest, open conversation between people with different opinions. But then I realised who's going to listen to me 😂
Okay let me rephrase the lines of Joker:- We live in a society where movies like Jana Gana Mana (2022) are called propaganda (despite the fact that the screenplay was written with perfection, directed so seamlessly, acted so mesmerizingly, didn't feels out of the place at any scenes and most importantly 90% of the facts are true), but movies like The Kerala Story (2023) called as the most realistic movie of India (despite the fact that the screenplay was BAD, direction was BAD, acted so horrendously, most of the scenes were felt out of the place and half of the facts were fake).
09:00 for this topic bahubali series is a perfect example how female character should be use.and in both part shivgami(played by rameya Krishna)such a grate roll.and also devsena (Anushka Shetty)give the proper justice to the character verry well. And also writting of the characters is excellent by S.S.RAJAMAULI
if a women demands for an equal pay she is considered a nuisance, and even when she doesn't want to create a "scene" and get the job done, then the titles of "she is not a true feminist" lag jaate hai. hum mahila logo ka koi simple route hi nahi hai
I really loved the points made by qt and baba i generally disagreed more on babas side as my views are almost same with qt as not everyone needs a screentime devided equally now watch sholay it is mainly a story of two freind and role done by female leads were also very great but they did not had equal or more screentime yet the movie still rocks as a good movie , its about the perspective you see from.

Market= Money. The Quarter ticket made a great a point. They best way to support women is by watching their movie. Wage gap has been disproven many times.. especially in entertainment industry where audience decides how much they'll pay
there are a lot of great female lead Indian movies but nowadays it seems like that the Indian cinema sometimes doesn't even want to make well written stories nowadays with good characters, good story and talented actors doing on it because movies like Animal, Jawan, Pathan and Dunki are mainly get popular because of Shahrukh Khan and Ranbir Kapoor's popularity and the audiance forgot how some of these movies are so poorly written and Shahrukh Khan's acting range are just only flaunting and doing badass scenes he never actually give an impactful performance likely used to do ( tho Jawan is good ) but people will give so much love because he is one of the most famous actors of Indian cinema and Ranbir Kapoor tho I agree that he did an amazing job in Animal but that doesn't undermine the fact that the movie itself is so badly written but I think that Indian cinema should take steps and write good stories which have a great female lead characters because Bollywood have great Indian female actresses who are talented but they never take advantage of that they all the time take male actors to do action films, to do serious films but when it's time to make something different with female characters they come with a really good story for that it happens very little and recently I watched a Netflix animated 18+ show called Blue eye samurai and it is such a great animated series and it has a female lead as the main protagonist of the show and how much will written the story and the protagonist are it's just intrigued me so it doesn't mean that we cannot make it, it's that how much they are passionate to make it and I hope that in the future Indian cinema do realise the worth of great female leads in the movies and doing great stories to

Boycott Bollywood was not wrong. Inko quality of content se matlab hi nhi hai. Thanks to OTT, we get to see good content (there as well, unnecessary sex scenes are put in some series). But at least you get to see some good content! Now, there are movies like Thank you for coming, shows like 4 more shots please, Made in heaven, which show wrong idea of feminism. Thanks Yogi Baba & QTS for the collab!!
Bollywood was never boycotted, it just was making movies for a small portion of audience. They still are making dumb movies and they're successful, people are still boycotting but they reached the audience and it's over
Heres my opinion. This casting system has major flaws and leads to a ton of issues in the long run. I'll try to mention a few... 1. The most obvious is Quality vs Popularity. In a performance-based compensation system, actors are incentivized to prioritize roles in blockbuster films or commercially successful projects over smaller, independent productions or artistically challenging roles. This leads to a focus on marketability rather than the artistic merit or cultural significance of a film. Which as you might have guessed, is exactly whats happening in bollywood now. 2. The second major issue is Inequality. Established actors with a proven track record of box office success will command higher compensation than emerging talents or those involved in smaller, independent projects. This can widen existing pay disparities in the industry and make it difficult for newcomers to negotiate fair compensation. This too can be seen in modern bollywood. Also take note of the words 'widen the existing pay disparities'. This means that there would be pay disparities even in spite of this system as well. They are not solely the result of this system. 3. Serious Neglect of Non-Commercial Films. Films with artistic or cultural merit that may not have broad commercial appeal are undervalued under this system. Actors involved in smaller, independent, or niche projects that contribute to the diversity of the film industry receive lower compensation compared to those in commercially successful projects. This is problematic because Non-commercial films often serve as platforms for experimentation, innovation, and diverse storytelling. By undervaluing actors' contributions to these projects, the system discourages creative risk-taking. This limitation can stifle the development of unique voices and narratives in the film industry, hindering its overall artistic growth. I don't even have to say that this can be seen in in bollywood because it has been a fact since quite a while no. 4. To top of it off, a few words about how Exploitative this system is. The potential for exploitation within a compensation system tied solely to box office performance arises from the subjectivity in attributing an actor's individual contribution to a film's success thus causing power imbalances among actors. This model can lead to undervaluing actors' contributions, unfair negotiations, and inequitable distribution of profits, especially during periods of financial instability or market volatility. Actors may find themselves vulnerable to exploitation, with limited ability to ensure that their compensation accurately reflects their efforts and talents, ultimately undermining their financial security and professional autonomy. Now there is a bit more but I won't be saying it as I would be more than overjoyed if you simply at least read all that is written above. And if you did it would be nice to hear your opinion on it as well. And yes I know I repeated a few points here and there but thats only because all these different topics that I have covered tend to cause very similar problems or end up exasperating them. Edit: So I kinda wrote this entire comment mid video and while writing it forgot that the main debate is about the state of women in bollywood and I am sorry that I have not mentioned anything about that in the above comment. I simply didn't realize lol.

And the same thing Yogi Baba said about Rocky kidnapping a girl and making it seem like the girl fell for him. The hell. Well you can exclude pathaan because female spy all over the world in fiction is believed to be s beautiful and trained girl “ Beauty with mind” who use her glamor and body to get information.

Well we all agree with this that every Industry in the South has a distinct identity on its own:-
Pra. Shaale (2018), Garuda Gamana Vrishabha Vahana (2021), Ondu Motteya Kathe (2017), Lucia (2013), etc, but when they played safe it always missed [like Kabzaa (2022)]

The problem of Indian cinema is hero worship and masala our most movies are cheesy
Yes the age gap is a measure issue❤ and OTT is really good for defeating those biases❤

For example men becoming more violent in the wrong ways ans women realizing they can do cheat without accepting accountability

there are a lot of great female lead Indian movies but nowadays it seems like that the Indian cinema sometimes doesn't even want to make well written stories nowadays with good characters, good story and talented actors doing on it because movies like Animal, Jawan, Pathan and Dunki are mainly get popular because of Shahrukh Khan and Ranbir Kapoor's popularity and the audiance forgot how some of these movies are so poorly written and Shahrukh Khan's acting range are just only flaunting and doing badass scenes he never actually give an impactful performance likely used to do ( tho Jawan is good ) but people will give so much love because he is one of the most famous actors of Indian cinema and Ranbir Kapoor tho I agree that he did an amazing job in Animal but that doesn't undermine the fact that the movie itself is so badly written but I think that Indian cinema should take steps and write good stories which have a great female lead characters because Bollywood have great Indian female actresses who are talented but they never take advantage of that they all the time take male actors to do action films, to do serious films but when it's time to make something different with female characters they come with a really good story for that it happens very little and recently I watched a Netflix animated 18+ show called Blue eye samurai and it is such a great animated series and it has a female lead as the main protagonist of the show and how much will written the story and the protagonist are it's just intrigued me so it doesn't mean that we cannot make it, it's that how much they are passionate to make it and I hope that in the future Indian cinema do realise the worth of great female leads in the movies and doing great stories to

Tight slap for the Toxic "KHAN LOVERS'S" . We are living in 2023 but still want those 60-70 years old citizens as our heroes. No one understand the fact that new actors should be given images in industry!

Nice video 👏 . It's up to us to make a difference.
You guys have the most neutral and unique point of view on everything. Congrats brothers!
