When I started many years ago I liked the Echo harps they sound good without much skills 😊later I got Jerry Portnoy’s harmonica course learned a lot about bending notes and other things. I can now play a Marine Band harp and make it sound like an Echo harp like this guys doing plus using your tongue you can beat out the rhythm and using the sides oh your mouth you can actually play parts of the tune while beating out the rhythm and playing several other holes like a cord it’s good if you don’t have all of these backing tracks to play along with another thing I found out lately is the Celtic Women there songs are all in the key of C an octave above middle C they don’t detune any of there songs so you can play along with all of there music with a C harp I get Apple Music free with my phone plain so I downloaded a bunch of there albums to play along with its so hard to find things that you can actually play along with. Irish music is another thing if you play a tin whistle most of the Irish music is in the key of D so if you have a harmonica in D or a tin whistle you can play along with most Irish music. The old Horner Echo harps use to come with the key C & G or A & D I still one of the old ones with all 4 keys I haven’t seen them around for years they were big about 4” wide and around 2 feet long but it still sounds good 👍🏻 ❤❤❤
So nice! I've always wanted to be able to pour my soul like that with the harmonica. Maybe I'll get there someday. Keep up the good work, it sounds great!
Man you are sooo good! I just have started learning harp...been practicing for about 10 weeks now! I hope it all clicks like u someday..I'm 54 yrs old and a drummer but wanted to learn something new! Your awesome!
Holy cow, I need to apologize for having no expectations when I first click the thumbnail, until you draw the first note! I enjoyed that immensely to the end and would probably come to watch your video over and over again from time to time. Great notes there Mister, thank you for playing 😀😀😀😀
Very happy to have found your channel here, Rex! Congrats! Just started on the harmonica and watching people like you is very inspiring! Thanks for sharing and I will be following your channel so looking forward to hearing you play
@rexragland827 I watched allot of your videos after this one late last night. You are a professional looks like. The equipment your using is really great. I saved allot of your videos in my different play lists. I think solo with just the Harmonica using your latest equipment without background music would be really great. Could I make a request? My Dad recently passed. His favorite Hymn we'd sing together was "Til The Storm Passes By". Could you please play that piece Solo? Also could you send me the tabs to it, so I could learn to play it. I'm going to get a Crossover Marine Band to learn to play it.
@@meer3731 thank you again, for your kind comment and view. i really prefer to play with background music, but, in your case, i will give my best attempt to honor your request, however, i do not use tabs because i play strictly by ear. Warmest regards.
