    I don't see anything bad by preserving culture and traditions and it must be preserved

    That's one awful translation. The kid wanted to play rock paper scissors not "fight with arm and leg". Inhaling smoke doesn't take away the "sorrow", the trainer said it relieves stress, kinda like smoking a joint. The dude didn't mention a thing about gambling. He said the there are commercial aspects to racing. Maybe he said those things off camera but it's not ethical to just overdub an entirely different conversation with whatever you wanted him to say. Next time hire some competent interpreters so that the nuances of our culture isn't lost in translation. Overall, you've captured the spirit but a lot of the subtleties are glazed over.

    I started training horses with my grandfather and uncle at 8 years old. I am a Native American Indian. Those were the best days of my life.

    Mongolians would NEVER force children to do the horse race, the child has to love riding horses. The only thing they need to really start focusing on is the safety of both children and the horses. As of now, horse racing is still the same as it was back hundred years ago. It is just only recently that jockeys started wearing a helmet and other protective gear. They used to wear only Mongolian traditional costume and hat for the race.

    The translation is giving a completely different story.
    The horsetrainer says the commercialization of horseracing is through sponsorship, not betting.
    Al Jazeera is putting words on their mouths. This is not ethical journalism!
    And stop giving them western names like Billy. Stap bastardizing our language at least try to pronounce the names, word the correct way. And it’s better to write their name on the screen since your pronunciation is incomprehensible .
    It is not Nadaam it is Naadam!

    These folks know what they're doing, and also know the risks. These races are part of their tradition - participating is part of family honour. Kids are born to ride. What is different today is what the man said : "most kids are city kids and no longer ride as before". As for the horses, they are tough cookies - the breed hasn't changed much, they're sturdy and hardy, and live outside all year long.
    What's terrible is to see how some exploit these traditions for money and tourism purposes by organising "derbies" or endurance races. How ridiculous! Aren't there enough open range spots in the US continent, or in Europe or ...?

      Crazy Kup nah bro cuz mongolian horses aren't for racing fast but for long distance ricing. Western big horses are true fast but... If you bring you horse here all you can see is dying your beautiful horse only in half of the final sorry it's true cuz one American tourist lost his horse in 2001 :/

    • @piercebataa3250
      @piercebataa3250 4 года назад +2

      Crazy Kuup naa trust me american horses are not meant for racing 40km races your horse would stop going by 15 km not even half way in

    • @skylancerv3877
      @skylancerv3877 3 года назад

      I think thats a not good way to lose your mustang if he was a live. The older horses races in 36km at most and 30km at least in Mongolia. Also they goes to starting line with horses throtting and slowly galloping most of the time. In other word, your horse must at least have a power, stamina and endurance, speed to outrun others in can almost be said 72~60km race situation. As a guy in the top mentioned, yes the Western horses and many of the oversea breeds are big and fast but lacks the endurance, strenght and stamina to overcome this trial of long path racing. There are many examples of oversea breeds sold to Mongolia and raced, and completely stopped in training of close range sprint ( 10~16km ). And for now horse owners in Monglia are started to breeding oversea breeds and their horses to get some big n fast mongolian horses. However they are incredibly fast in racing and little bit likely to outrun the pure mongolian horses but there some mongolian horses still leading the crossbreeds of overseas. In short having a speed and big body to cover more ground is good in races so the some.owners are trying to get crossbreeding the race breeds to their good horses with good bloodline.

      @@KS-sc5xt that guy is silly. But just fyi mustangs aren't considered big horses at all. The prototypical mustang is a small stocky horse with big feet and a big head. They're not specially fast either. Not all horses from the West are big horses.

    Narrator is probably a good guy, but come on they couldn't find anyone who speaks Mongolian and English well? There are plenty of people I know that can do this, yet they spit out some BS about Mongolia, Westerners wouldn't understand, I see it first hand as now I live in the U.S.

    i can't believe how heartless these parents are, they send their children for having bone fractures and various kinds of injuries just for the sake of their filthy culture and i am amazed how many people are supporting this form of child slavery, don't these people have hearts or children, who they never would want to see in pain

    • @TheOpus480
      @TheOpus480 4 года назад +4

      Its Mongolia, if you are not brought up tough you wont survive well. They live in high climates and harsh winters. Kids must get tough, if not they will most likely become weak and be more prone to risks.

    • @devilsclone505

      You act like we hold the kids at gunpoint and make them ride. The most important thing about racing is that the child themselves want to do it, they have to love riding, we would never force a kid to do so as we value children very much. Having them learn to care for and bond with a horse teaches them wonderful life skills that will stick with them through their lives and they learn to respect nature. Also, the translations are completely wrong, they say certain things that are incorrect to try to veer the audience into a certain direction - there is 0 ethical journalism practices. Do not ever call our culture and traditions filthy when you know nothing about it besides what you’ve read in western textbooks. It is rich and beautiful, we value free will and spirit above all, children learn to ride at a very young age with older members of their family - like myself, it comes naturally to them. We had a nationwide protest when we discovered the sexual exploitation of children that led to immediate changes, I don’t see other countries taking action to protect their young ones as we have. Go visit the country, experience our culture as well as the naadam festival for yourself before you say such ignorant statements.
