Beth: If you say 'Come with me off to Massachusetts'
Then to Massachusetts we will go
    We will buy dishes there
    Maybe even two sets
    Buy the finest china
Then we'll dine a while on crepe suzettes...
    Mr. Laurence: Well? Go on!
Beth: We will build model boats off in Massachusetts
There in Massachusetts by the bay
Put them together and wait until the glue sets...
Mr. Laurence: What's the matter now?
Beth: I don't remember the rest, sir.
Mr. Laurence: While we wait, we'll polka for the folk along the parapets!
    Beth: Off
    Mr. Laurence: To Massachusetts
    Beth: Yes, we're off
Mr. Laurence: To where the shops are sweet
BOTH: We will play minuets off in Massachusetts
    Boston, Massachusetts, Beacon Street
Beth: If you say 'Come with me'
Then to Massachusetts we will go
    We will buy dishes there
Mr. Laurence: If you say come with me off to Massachusetts
Then to Massachusetts we will go
    We will buy dishes there
    Maybe even two sets
BOTH: Buy the finest china then we'll dine a while on crepe suzettes
    Beth: Off
    Mr. Laurence: Yes we're off
    BOTH: To Massachusetts
Yes we're off (Yes, we're off)
To where the shops are sweet
We will have no regrets off in Massachusetts
    Mr. Laurence: Boston, Massachusetts we
    B: Boston, Massachusetts we
    BOTH: Boston, Massachusetts we repeat!

we recently did this musical at my school (I was Mr brooke) and sometimes I would come down a few scenes early just to watch the actresses who portrayed jo and amy dance to this song backstage, it was hilarious

I was Laurie for mine, (still exhausted two years later. Had to use all of my built up energy to fit his) and our Beth told us Mr. Laurence tripped on one of the piano legs. He played it off as "his legs ain't what they used to be." Ah, I miss that cast so much... they were all such amazing actors/actresses, and I wish we could do one more show together. I wandered here because I wanted to take a trip down memory lane

PLEASE do Plumfield/ Piano Suite! There is nothing out there and after quite a few years not reading sheet music, I need you to do one! :)

I am disappointed that this maintains the incomplete, broken structure which is holdover from the stage play. Very frustrating. It would be much better if the melody for for the second verse “while we wait we’ll polka for the folk along the parapet” was simply inferred (a repeat) of the first first verse, “ buy the finest China, and will dine in a while on crepe Suzette’s”… wish the entire melody was complete here!
