I don't know if any of this is true. The real problem with this is that guilds don't own nodes and nodes are the "Factions" in Ashes of Creation. It is difficult for me to understand how a cross faction Guild will work. The second problem is guild size. My own opinion is that Intrepid are trying to bring guild size down to where it used to be in games. One raid team or one battle group and so on. The advantages (augments & bonuses) for being in a guild will be reduced as it gets bigger. The third problem is that dominating a server with a mega guild may not be very enjoyable, particularly for people who are PvP oriented. With as much room as there is going to be in the world, it will be very easy to move away from a node that is toxic. You are not going to be able to keep a node at level 6 without a large trading network, a lot of PvE, or well-developed high level nodes to raid. You are going to fall into the Roman Empire problem of not being able to fuel an Empire, if you run out of other civilizations to conquer. If you need level 6 resources, and everyone around only has level 1 resources, then you have no PvP that will be lucrative, and only the PvE resources in your immediate node and POIs. The most successful servers, are going to be those where PvP is kept to an almost medieval chivalrous battle for (icing on the top) resources and wealth, than any desire, "To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of their women!". I think just as everyone sees the "Zerg" guild as a problem, so do Intrepid, and they have made distinct efforts to ensure that the optimal size of a guild (and a node) is not "As many as possible". My own view is that AoC is going to be much more suited to small groups of friends going to the same node, and then creating raid size Guilds, once people have committed to a node. I also think that getting your Node economy right is going to be MUCH harder than people think. An alliance of seven forty player guilds with specific economic and PvP bonuses, is going to be vastly superior to a 300 player guild.
Im already in a guild that i played BDO and classic WOW with. I try to be loyal so im sticking with them for now. If there's only like 3 people logging in a month after A2 launches though I'll probably check to see if you guys still have any openings.
@@RitchieSH I'll get a good idea of how active my current guild will be during phase 1. We'll see how many enjoy the testing environment and how many go back to killing Death Wing un Cata Classic lol
Hope they add some way to identify Roleplayers (like a word or symbol next to the player's name) because this game will have a lot of opportunities for roleplay
Think talent trees. You get points as the guild levels, and you can take those points and either spec them to increase the guild size, or generate various passives. The idea is hopefully to help smaller guilds still be competitive and compete with the zergs
@@RitchieSH Zergs should sadly win unless you just outplay them. I don't see zerging being that big of a issue since they are limiting guilds to 300-500. Zerging can be really fun. Small groups can still snipe people in the open and tend to be the best at it. Small op groups. I understand the size thing just the combat thing is very new and meh.
Ahhh yes getting into a guild so You can build community and have like minded players will be very important. Also make sure to hear back from a few guilds. Don’t go with the first one that peaks your interest.
At this point, I’m beginning to believe that Ashes of Creation is just a giant Ponzi Scheme. “8+ YEARS in development?? They’re charging over $100 to ALPHA test their game? No dungeon or raid finder”? UI and gameplay looks eerily similar to LOTRO (15 year old FTP)?
