  • Finally got around to running the 6 way wedge on the ‪@EastonmadeWoodSplitters‬ 37D log splitter. With the right size log the 6 way wedge unlocks maximum output and just dominates when splitting firewood.

    If I split for myself or boiler, I’d probably just use 6 way the whole time, when we use the 6 way my friend Aaron always says “6 way push it threw and forget about it”. Nice video Dan!

    The way they designed that wedge is clever, having the wedges staggered like that. You don’t have all the wood hitting at the same time. One study you sound do? Do triangles burn better than squares? Will a stick of wood cut square last longer due to surface area? When you showed your stack a few days ago squares stack better, or do you get better “air flow” with triangles in the stack. Great content grew up burning wood and miss some of it.

    • @Back40Firewood
      @Back40Firewood  4 месяца назад

      Those are some interesting questions and ideas...I will say I think I like stacking the square pieces better. Not sure about how they burn however.

    Great content as always! IIRC you lowered the speed of the conveyor - maybe the original speed would've kept up? I think what would help more is if the conveyor was lower and there was a steeper dropoff angle from the tray or if the tray was shorter (or the rounds were cut longer) so that the splits would be pushed further onto the conveyor.

    Nice looking firewood. Nice size. For some reason I’m not really a fan of box wedge looking wood. I know. All burns.
    I’m wondering if the cross bars on the conveyer are on wrong. Seems to me that the saw tooth part should be pointing up. Not toward the exit. And the flat part pointing to the exit of the conveyor. Might grab the wood better. Just a thought. I’m no expert.
    Have a great day. 👍🏻👍🏻👋👋

    The splits do not seem to be of a consistent size, but it is quick. For your own personal use it does matter, but for selling to the public you must do a lot of sorting to get the “right” size.

      @@Back40Firewood The six way has it's place, like bulk firewood, but the box wedge is more more conducive for bundle and ambiance firewood. Irregardless it is a high production tool 👍 Love your videos

    I think the four way does it better. There seems to be a lot of waste - spilts too small to sell - and there are some huge splits which you were continually having to re-split.
