Probably the best video I've seen. I've been in reef hobby for about 20 years and the most important part people forget is( it is you the tank owner that is solely responsible for the creatures in the aquarium if you let one die from lack of knowledge or laziness or food . Ask yourself would it have been better if I left that creature live out its days on a reef). 20 years ago i was guilty of this too with a lack knowledge in books and my own.

Wise words. Many beginners will spend hundreds on equipment and not a dollar on a good book.

Agreed. Im about to make another video soon on some things you mentioned in this video. Super important to realize what you want in your tank. There’s too many people in this hobby that will preach about things that will sway you away from certain things, I.e. “evil” soft corals. and how they could ruin your tank, and for good reason. But messages like that ultimately led me to having a tank with corals that I didn’t necessarily care for and a bunch of money lost. Now I’m starting to realize what I want and pick corals based on if I can care for them and if I enjoy them instead of what are some corals that everyone likes.

One of our tanks is a soft coral tank its amazing the way they sway in the flow also a neat fact one of the sinularia corals in the hobby is extinct in the wild.

@@peterhowells8509 Yeah, Generac is an expensive way to go. Personally I am thinking about getting an immediate battery backup for powerheads, and just getting a nice generator that I can start up and plug into my house.

Question how many small or big clams do you need for a few dozen large fish like talking 30 to 40 pounds large.
Oh ya scallops how do you care for those.

Love it. On that note, if you have time, could you give me a quick eval on my fish stock list for a 75g? 1 Bartlett's Anthias, 1 Chalk Basslet, 1 Rainford Goby, 1 Mandarin Dragonet, 1 Royal Gramma, 1 Ocellaris Clownfish, 1 Royal Pencil Wrasse, 1 Magma or Conde's Fairy Wrasse. I am aware that the dragonet and pencil wrasse require special care.

my intentions were imaginary 😂. i did have intentions on what livestock i wanted at certain parts of the rock scape. and certain fishes i wanted living in it.
i also think brands are important. just because of their reputation & also their reliability. and budgets are always a question.

The first decision every reefer should consider is buying nothing but fish and coral that are tank reared and not kidnapped from the precious reefs of our planet.Stewardship first.
