- This is the second minivan I've built into a tiny house - Gladys. She's a 2005 Honda Odyssey, and she's great. I learned so much building my first van and continued learning more while I lived full-time van life for about a year. Now with a new and improved design for this new van, I'm so ready to return to #vanlife.
I documented most of the build-out with these videos:
The bed: • I Bought a New Van!!
The desk: • Building a desk in the...
The kitchen: • Building a kitchen in ...
And here's a tour of my last van, Sheila: • Tour of my minivan tin...

I love that table/chair back set up. great idea.
ridiculously simple, and good choice with the Honda. I liked you gave credit for the table to where you got the idea from. Good luck stay safe.
I take away a lot of great ideas that would work in any van build. Thanks for sharing your creation! Cheers
Wow what a great set up!! It can be easily seen that a lot of thought went into it! Thanks for the tour!
Thank YOU! It was definitely months of refining and redesigning.
Gladys is awesome! You gave me a few ideas for mine. I like that you have had a year in van life to learn what works and what doesn't. New subscriber!
I can’t believe how much you are able to fit into your van. There’s so much more and more and more. Wow! Awesome video!
Wow some really cool ideas I've not seen before. Awesome setup, thanks for sharing!! :)
Nice van build. Thanks for sharing!
Great Van setup 👍 I really love the way you put boards n latches for easy access to your storage.. Thanks for tour 😁
Awesome secret setups....now where to shower? And thanks for leaving the doggy tail wag in.......lol hercules!
Amazing how efficient you are with such limited space. Awesome build dude.
I absolutely LOVE your build!!! Thanks for sharing! Happy and Safe trails!
Amazing 😃. Congratulations and enjoy it ! 👍🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I love this, and I am saving the video for some of your ideas! I especially love the gray water set up!
Great set up. I’ve been thinking about turning my minivan into a camper instead of buying a larger van.... this set up would work great for me I think.
You have the very same van I have. This is awesome and thank you for sharing your life / build on RUclips.
Excellent and practical build. Solar setup is special
You deserve so many views for this, for real. Hope this vid blows up for you!
I appreciate this so much. Thank you!
Nice job! My favorite part of the video is when the dog came in and his tail kept hitting the camera🥰
No idea why your channel popped up on my algorithm, but I love it.... humorous, enjoyable .....will stay around
Wow! Great job. I love Gladys!...Now I’m going to go find Sheila and check her out too!
that ridiculously comfortable drove me crazy but i have no choice but to agree. happy for you
Great build, and nicely presented. Happy dog too!
Good on you bro love from liverpool uk 👊🏻
You did a great job! A very nice presentation, too. Thank you for sharing-
Great build! One of the better ones I have seen!
Yes, I remember when she made the table. Your living a dream!!! I am 66 with 2 small pup's, I am inspired to do the van life, need someone to build it out though! Great job !!! New sub ✌ #keepinitreal ❤
Great build! Have fun on your adventure! 😊😊
So clever in the design of your build!
Great job. So functional. Best wishes!
What a fabulous job you did ❤️ and happy travels to you
I love that your dog's tail wags into the camera. I am in the process of doing my first van build. I won't be able to do full time vanlife, but I plan to use it a whole lot that's for sure~!
also if you haven't checked out Bruce Park's vids, you should-his builds are pretty brilliant too!
Great video & use of space 😊..😍 your Van build 😊
One thing I recommend is, cooler is heavy, thus, should be on the bottom.
You have to give up the storage underneath.
If I do, I block the windows setting storage cabinet for lighter things, such as clothes.
If you want to leave the cooler that position, make a cooler cabinet around the cooler.
Great build! You are so creative!
Oh, to be 20-something again. Sigh. Well done, kid. You're living the dream.
You can do this in your thirties as well
it’s never to late
@@GULLAHTV33 That made me smile. Oh, to be 30-something again. I'm in my 50's :) But I've seen women in their 70's living/travelling in vans, so there's still hope for me!
@@SurvivalistChick I suspect Chris was trolling you, but jokes on him...in our fifties, we have the time and resources to do this without having to concern ourselves with getting a job down the road. The previous video that I watched had a fifty something guy living in his van, sleeping in a hammock...nice.
Sadly, Matthew quit 2yrs into vanlife.
Great build with great ideas! Thanks for sharing.
Great job! Your van is cool and your video was well done. Best wishes on your travels!
You have done such a fabulous job! All I need is a van! How do you stay warm? Thank you for sharing.
WOW! You have an awesome build. It is certainly one of the best I have ever seen. Thanks for the tour.
......superb build ✨
Very nice sweetie! I miss living in my campervan it was awesome!
Great filming!
You totally rock dude👍😁🕶
Nice simple build love it.
Great setup!
Absolutely love. It! Great ideas. I don’t understand why a lot of van dwellers don’t like doing the simple thing. You didn’t need store bought air compressed lifts. A piece of wood to act as supports and boom! Subbed!
Great ideas, and we all appreciate that you shared i it with us. I'll be sure to follow. Thank you. ✌🏽
That's awesome! I really like it!
great bucket idea
Awesome....great build,
That’s peace love the journey
Well done‼️👌🏼😀
Amazing video! I loved the little montage in the beginning where you display all the layout possibilities! ^^ Lovely layout!!
Great job. I am hoping to do the same. I'm"elderly" so any help from the van life folks would be greatly.
I could give you ideas as well if you'd like
Check out Foresty Forest for some great ideas on a minivan build.
that is a lot of gear exposed and visible from outside. kinda dangerous without window coverings
So clever. I have a large classic 1991 Mercedes wagon I restored and I just don't want to part with it. So you have given me an idea to convert it into a van, sort of. Thanks.
You & your minivan setup are looking good, world pandemics don't bug you! Thanks for some great ideas for my 1997 aerostar.
That awesome to hear!
Really love this.
I'm so glad! It took a lot of designing and refining.
I love the dogs tail lol
Great job
The exploring alternatives build was my favorite build for a high roof van. The minivan build on
Budget Build Bureau's channel is my favorite minivan build so far. I plan to do a very similar layout and design to it. Check it out if you have the chance.
Cute dog, nice van setup...
Love it 😊
I'm doing some changes to my van this year and your video gave me a great idea to do without solar for now. I've been using a battery pack that I charge with an extension cord.
Nice build
Gorgeous
Great ideas. Im going to try and squeeze my full size supplies into a 05-6 ody when i find one.
Love this build. You are crazy creative bomb....
Wow!!!! Amazing!!
Awesome build Matthew! I'm a new subscriber. ✌🌞
Wow really great
cool setup
I’m loving Gladys especially the different name you sound like me lol
Do you think it's possible to put a maxxair fan in the ceiling of your van? It's much like my van (inside structure part) and that's what I want to do. Your build is clever and I like it a lot!
Very ingenious!
Nice build Matt, question... Is that same build possible if the bed was made to be a sofa with a pull out into a bed? I really like your buld buddy
L
that's a deep, deep V, my man
I like ur set up.
Very nice design!
Thanks so much!
I LOVE YOUR BUILD and the dog! Please get a cover cap for your toothbrush though👍🏾
Great job!
Is it an odyssey?
Truly amazing
Gladys Is Beautiful.
OK love Jackson you have made it so organized and with all the extra storage young people should watch this and maybe they don't have to worry about high rent or their parents having to add on I hope your book is about this
This video just popped up in my recommended feed and I'd like an update to one year later pls
Awesome!!!…❤️😊👍
I love your home
Very nice job. Few questions would you rather live in the van or do u have apartment as well. Also dont the extra car battery's need to be in vented box? And what if u made the bed fold like futon wouldnt you have way more space? Very good video and great mini van build!
Very nice!
Once I saw that you had a Honda Odyssey I was interested since I have a 2004 Odyssey that I want to fix to live in if circumstances warrant it, but I have no interest in travelling.
I'm also interested in knowing if the 3rd row seats were removed completely to provide more storage space. I also wonder how the Odyssey has been mechanically and if you have needed to do the big timing belt job on it.
He removed the 3rd row seats. That's where the well is at the foot of the bed. The bed legs on that end must be considerably longer than on the front end. I'm building out a 2003 right now and plan to follow his design.
Where should I find used van for good deal and reliable car
Wish you more success & more young guys like you be independent.
Very nice. I was wondering about your choice of vans because the model year had a lot of troubles with transmission issues. Maybe you don't travel too far or yours is exceptionally good. The compartment under the food storage looks like it was for folding the seat into the floor but I'm sure that this was not an option on this van. How big is it?
Thanks for being so unselfish and doing the video.
Thank you so much! Yeah, the transmission is definitely an issue, but this van was available, so I went with it. It's great with everything else. And the spot under the food storage had a neat little rotating, circular storage thing, almost like a lazy-Suzan, in it, but it took up space and I took it out. It's about as big as the spare tire. That's where it was stored in my last van which was an older model, so I'm sure Honda just kept the design.
@@60matthews81 Thanks and good luck with the transmission. I have a Town and Country AWD that I took 2 of the 6 seats out and sleep there in that 22inch wide space but it's only occasionally when I travel to save money. Now one of my kids wants to come over the summer and we started looking at all the videos to see what could be done. We might use it totally 4 weeks then it's my spare again or bad weather vehicle.
Amazing built man .. what about toilet and shower situation. How do you do that
Go one step further and remove the passenger seat that'll be like another room. Amazed how much you were able to fit what you need and still have space. Good job
I've been considering van life; my biggest problem thus far is in which van to buy. If you have any recommendations, I'd appreciate it.
You mentioned wanting an electric water pump, this might be a good solution for $15 if you jerryrig the hose to whatever length needed for your current water supply. Amazon search: Water Bottle Pump 5 Gallon Water bottle dispenser USB Charging
