You’re one of the few people I’ve seen willingly review the new Integra with CVT. The reality is that, living in the Northeast, I don’t want to be having to corral a manual transmission in rush hour stop-and-go-traffic, so I’d probably have to take a long look at the CVT (full disclosure - I’ll still test drive both). Thanks, and nice to hear from you! It was definitely a surprise for me (in a very good way), when I drove this. I have another video where I drove up a canyon in the CVT and it was a complete JOY in sport mode. Super responsive, so check that out. There was another canyon that I did not film because I ran out of light, but was a higher-speed road, and believe me, I was being held back by all the other cars, not the CVT. It performed amazingly well, and the suspension was great, and all in the base Integra I spent over 8 hours in it and was convinced within the 1st hour that this was totally acceptable. Within 3 hours I knew Acura was a pro at the CVT, and by the 5th hour, I was blown away at how good it was! If Acura could pipe in sounds that sound like gears shifting, I think most people would not notice it's a CVT. I call it, The Acura Dual-clutch CVT! After all of this, tho, I'm still in love with the 6MT, as this is the experience I love. I do get the stop-and-go traffic though :)

It's a fantastic engine! How are you with the sounds? As long as I crank the music up, I don't even notice it's a CVT, really. I call it, The Acura Dual-clutch CVT I thought it was so good!
@zayfuentez It does a pretty good job of it as well....the sounds tho.....if the SOUNDS are important to you, you wanna go with either the Integra 6MT or Type S. The TLX Is a great option if you really want an auto....but if sounds matter not, then CVT Teggy is great!
Got an A-spec tech Teggy after my lease on my 2.0t accord was up. And even after coming from that 10AT on the accord, the CVT on the integra is very impressive. I love the way it’s tuned and the exhaust sounds pretty okay
I totally agree with you! I was FLOORED at how good it actually is, and my two videos are proof that Acura found a way to make the world's best CVT. We should officially call it "The Acura CVT" because it really has created a quality experience while retaining the Integra spirit! Especially in Sport mode is such a good experience and really does liven up the whole dynamics!
I can't drive manual so interested about if I want to commit to CVT due to concerns about reliability and that it's not as good as traditional automatic
@DonThanh As far as reliability, I would not be concerned, even one little teensy bit. Honda has completely perfected the CVT and has proven over the test of time how reliable they are. The Civic, which is a super successful car has the CVT and has had great reliability. My concern with the CVT for the Integra was not about reliability, but actually the performance aspect...CVTs have not been synonymous with "Fun". The Integra is most definitely Synonymous with Fun so when the twain appeared, I was extremely confused haha! Because, why in an Integra? After driving this CVT Teggy, I have come to know that I shouldn't doubt Acura's decision, because it turned out to be a GREAT performer! Coupled with the 1.5l engine, which is a complete GEM, I actually call it, "The Dual-clutch CVT" ;) It's THAT good! I now understand why Acura was able to get away with it hehe. 8 months and 5000 miles in with the A-Spec Tech CVT. 30+mpg, great handling, love the ELS system. No issues with acceleration at all. Night and day difference compared to a 2014 Altima 4 cylinder I once owned where my foot would be on the floor and the car would hesitate to get up to speed.
Good to hear. The only CVT I owned was a 2013 Altima and it made me really hesitant to consider a car with one again. It's my only hesitation about the Integra.

I had fit and finish issues with the Integra and the dreaded sticky steering wheel issue, google sticky steering wheel Integra or civic and you’ll see what I’m talking about. Cvt was responsive but noticeable turbo lag on a hot day. Seats also weren’t comfortable. I no longer recommend the Integra. Driving a cpo sh-awd 2023 TLX a-spec now and it’s a massive improvement. Traded the Integra after a year and took a big hit on depreciation but it was worth it
In big citys manual transmission is a pain just two days in miami with integra MT and you will be trade in for anything automatic cvt or not . Trust me i lease my integra cvt and the manua transmission was cheaper $2000 and i got the cvt . Yes MT is more for enthusiasm but for normal people not . The cvt in the integra is pepy and in my opinion is very good.

I bought a base model 2024 Integra this week. My previous car was a 2015 VW Golf 1.8 TSI S 2-door 5MT and while I enjoyed rowing my own gears in that car, the CVT in the base model Integra isn't too bad, honestly. I just needed to adjust my driving style so that I hit the gas to get up to the appropriate speed. Also, I find that I feel less exhausted when I arrive at places compared to driving my manual Golf.
That's great! I really enjoyed driving this car and by the end of the day, I was a true fan of it. I'll definitely recommend those car to anyone who is opposed or doesn't want the 6MT, which is my favorite, but as you mentioned, it's really actually quite great! I was expecting a bad experience, but was totally surprised!
I think it would have been cool if they carried over the 8-speed DCT from the ILX into the integra, but the CVT is actually an incredibly comfortable transmission for putting around town. I have that in my current 2023 Civic EX 1.5T. Of course, the Integra can still be purchased with a manual transmission for those who want to row their gears.
My guess is that Acura looked into it, but they had CVT dialed in so well with Civic so they tried it....annnnnd Acura was probably like, "Wow! This is actually good! We don't need DCT...." hehe. My thoughts, not Acura's haha

Just last month I got a '24 ASpec Tech with the 6MT. It's great. Only two nit pick things that the Integra doesn't have: 1. Homelink (all other Acura models have it as does the Civic Sport Touring) and 2. No rear wiper.
Homelink would be cool, but it drives the cost more, and since this is a gateway car, probably felt like it wouldn't be needed. I definitely would want homelink for convenience. The rear wiper tho, I don't want it. I'd rather have the sleek back window design ;) Congratulations on the new ride! I still love the Aspec Tech, even tho the Type S is unreal to drive. Did you have a chance to try that out?
I remember driving Honda HR-V with CVT a few years ago and thought that all CVTs are the same... Today I test drove 2023 Integra with CVT and was also kind of surprised about how well it performed. Even at 65 MPH, I was able to get some speed quickly without issues. Mostly this CVT when accelerating stays at around 5k RPM but does the job well.
Totally surprised me too! I've been in CVTs before and when I had a chance to drive it, I was so pleased that it was actually great, that I now call it "The Acura Dual-clutch CVT " haha! Did you end up getting the Integra, or are you gonna drive the 6MT first?
@@PlasmadaeDal I have a 2010 Acura RL which I like but wanted something different. I just test drove the Integra to see if I like it and I did. Unfortunately trade-in value for my car is too low for me to let it go. When I sell it, then I can purchase the CVT Integra. I wasn't good with stick shift to begin with :)
@Charkatak I would try to hold on the the RL.if you could! Always nice to have an older car that you're not too afraid to take in less ideal places. I would say the CVT is a sweet ride and a great daily driver and easy to live in. The 6MT is pretty easy to drive, I'd at least give it a try. @@PlasmadaeDal I watched your video from the link. I kind of able to drive a manual if there is no interference on the road, however if I need to stop suddenly, I forget to apply clutch :). I am trying to keep my RL but if I purchase Integra, I can't park 2 cars. Please tell me this: I looked at few Integras at the dealership and they had rubber floor mats, trunk rubber mat and splash guards. However, I am finding out that these cars don't come with aforementioned accessories even on tech trim. Is that so?
@Charkatak Indeed, you just gotta practice :) The accessories are not included with the car, only the regular carpet mats. The all weather though, usually the dealerships include them as a protection package so you end up with them anyway. The mud guards are an add on.
Road noise is perfection. It's the perfect balance of engagement. You don't want it too quiet for such a spirited drive like Integra, so road noise is totally great. Watch my other video about the Cabyon Carver....that was what really blew me away!
As someone who drives in a large city with 30 mph speed limits, intermittent photo enforced school and park zones, traffic lights or stop signs every 4 blocks, and parallel parking, a manual wouldn't be fun. I'd rarely get out of 3rd. Just bought Integra as second car.
I bet you are loving it :) The brake hold feature is pretty cool, too. While I am definitely a fan of the 6MT, but in some circumstances, it does have some advantages. My other video I posted at the same time is the whole canyon, and I was just blown away at how smooth and quick it was. In sport mode, the dynamics change quite a bit making the Teggy CVT a true canyon carver!
i’m really glad you said what you did about this being a good first 6SPD because i really like the A-spec tech package, but truly feel like getting the CVT would be a mistake. i’m willing to learn!!
Honestly, if you can get over the sounds of a CVT, it's actually really good! I call it The Acura Dual-clutch CVT! :) I was shocked at much I liked it. The other video I did on the Canyon ride with CVT. Blew me away!
I have a 2013 Accord 4cyl CVT. And it's awfully slow. A Sentra with 120 horsepower can overtake me and I have 185 or something. Not a fun car to drive either; feels more inline to a Buick than anything. Looking for an upgrade. I have bad knees especially on my left knee that keeps me from a MT. I used to drive a MT. I did lots of running and mountain jogging and fell on a rock with my knee and has been a problem ever since 2008. Some days is worse than others even to where I have to use a cane for half the day until it feels fine again. I'm afraid a MT would either agitate it more or if I have a bad knee day I there would be no way I could drive that day.
This is nothing like your Accord. Check out my other Canyon Video and you will easily see that. It's actually a BLAST to drive! One thing StreetSpeed717 can learn from this is that in general, if you don't bother giving a car a test drive, then you should not bother bashing it (like what he did with NSX)
One thing I was surprised most was that I thought the CVT in general was just horrible, so I would never give it a chance and assume it's subpar all around. I doubted Acura's decision since I heard it was gonna have that. And so many were disappointed with Acura's decision. After driving the 6MT for 12 months and 12k miles, I had to give it a try. What I found out is that Teggy CVT wasn't just good, it was pretty amazing at how great it was. In sport mode up the canyon, my mind was seriously blown. Acura truly is a car company that doesn't just make functional cars, but the direction they are headed seems to be rooted back in the direction of the 90s. No more are they focused just on luxury....but I really think they are focused on Performance. The whole mantra of Acura creates only amazingly balanced driving experiences. As for NSX, that is a super car that is special, even in the super car genre. It's a racecar that literally ANYONE can drive safely and have fun! And it's been that way since the 90s. Acura knows what they are doing, and I see some things they do may seem unconventional, but I trust their decisions will give me a super balanced and fun ride.
@scottbuckley6578 I am a Beliver! I think the 6MT is tons of fun, but if you are opposed to the shifting experience, this certainly fits the bill! Especially on the Beach highway and Canyon roads! Loved it, actually....something I was not expecting....at all. :)
No. There are a few reasons for me...1. Those cars are driven HARD, they are like rentals. I'm sure they would be fine, but for 32, you'd have a brand new vehicle. 2. The depreciation once you drive a brand-new vehicle off the lot is substantial, so think of 2k depreciation instantly. That puts you at 30k or less...and it's brand new, and you know it hasn't been abused by folks driving it hard. 3. There's nothing like taking delivery of a vlnew vehicle, knowing exactly how it's been driven, and all of that. I'd recommend new....over the life of the loan, not much different (of course, interest rates are RIDICULOUS right now). If you plan on keeping it for a long time, should be good. If you think you really want it, offer 24k OTD, and make sure they honor the 2 year warranty, etc. Keep me posted on how that goes!
The Honda/Acura fans will have a hard time with decision making. Buy a manual so that Honda gets the message to not discontinue, or buy a CVT so that they can prove how Honda's CVTs are great CVTs?
Yes, and it's totally worth it. It coats more money for them to make a 6MT than auto, but the only reason they have this option is for pure fun....and it totally is. Go test drive one and you'll see what I mean it's so good!
@@PlasmadaeDal They used to call them standard transmissions because manuals came with the car unless you ordered or bought one with an added cost automatic transmission. Now some don't charge for either transmission for certain vehicles, unless it's an extra cost upgraded one. But some are just hard to find manuals, because they don't make too many, and some dealerships charger exorbitant prices for them. For the Integra, Acura is charging a lot. I don't doubt it's nice, but for me, it's fine with the CVT, as a luxury version of the Si with the hatchback utility. If I got this, it would be my daily driver or toy car, but I am not so much a due hard enthusiast as some others. I older now, have some other interests and don't have the time and expense to enjoy driving around like that, but I'd I did, and had the money, I definitely would get a Type S instead, but that's overkill for me. But it's great that we have the choices. 👍
It's not that the 6MT is $5,000 more, it's the trim level: "ASpec with Technology" that costs $5,000 more. The ASpec Tech comes in either a 6MT or the CVT. Both are the same price in that trim level.
@jjacob25101 Yes, Acura does a lot of research to justify doing things like 6MT. They have algorithms that will help offset the increased cost of the manual, right? The bottom line is, 6MT is produced less, because more people want an automatic, and because of that, costs more to make the 6MT (lower production means it costs more to make). So the trim levels help offset. They totally could do a 6MT at base trim, but that is a lost opportunity for them. The 6MT is more special, and more special is often more money in the auto industry. It's still better to pay more, because 6MT = Enthusiasts car, and why would an enthusiast want less of a car? Not me, I want the best option here, but at the same time, it's a balancing act, right?
Looks pretty similar. The Civic has slightly less horsepower, but similar amenities. I would bet the Integra has a little better ride and insulation, but they are fairly close. I haven't driven the touring, but the Civics are fun to drive by nature. I think where the Integra beats this is the Acura experience is better than Honda. Not that Honda is bad, but just better overall. The Integras come with 2 years of free oil changes from Acura and bumper-to-bumper warranty, which Honda doesn't do. Plus, once you're in the base Integra, your path to other cars are pretty sweet, like the 2.0l Integra....wow! The CVT Integra will be one of the most sporty rides around. As far as CVTs, the Integra has done something that makes you wonder if it is...it'll be noticeably faster and more responsive, but as a daily driver amenities are similar. If you're considering both, you need to go drive in each and see which you like better. They both have something to love, and i love both styles a lot. I chose the Integra manual, and it's quite a bit nicer than the base ;)
You are absolutely correct. A CVT makes no sense in this car. No LSD. For that money and a hatchback get a Civic sport touring. Yea you loose 20hp and the looks, but you get more amenities in that top trim.
I would have been skeptical for the rest of my life until I actually drove it. The CVT they use in this is the very best available, and not only that, I think it is a Honda innovation to the point of it being totally acceptable, and even good! I now call it, "The Acura Dual-clutch CVT"!
@Precyze I think a big amenity if you can call it that, is the design. The Integra just looks better, and more sleek. That's not to say the Civic touring is not attractive, because I really like the design too! I just think the Integra looks better. The other thing is, when you buy Acura, you are getting a better experience overall. The sales process, the service, and you'll like the smaller dealership than Honda, I feel. The other thing here, is the engine....the 1.5l engine in the base Integra is impressive! It's the same engine as what is in the Civic Si, so I think this is a huge amenity. Lastly, the trunk in the Integra is MASSIVE for a car in its class. Huge! So if I was to choose the touring, VS Integra Base, I'd make CERTAIN to try both before you make your final decision :) Thanks!
ive had the 2024 Aspec w/tech CVT trying to convince my Waifu to lets us switch to manual, however in the Washington DC area traffic is always present and it sucks and we have speed cameras everywhere too. I will say tho, I love the Integra and just trying to figure out if its safe or worth using the paddle shifters at all? Thoughts??? But the integra is sweet as long as you arent trying to flex against more serious type race or street cars but its a refined, smooth chill ass city cruiser for sure and super convenient to multi task while driving in stop and go traffic if you are super OCD or ADHD like me 🤣 Cheers! @deegee8042 The performance Red looks stunning, I agree. Acura nailed the colors on the Integras for sure. As far as the paddle shifters, I never bothered trying during test. I was so surprised at how well the CVT performed that it was enough for me! My other video of the canyon drive also solidified it for me. My friend who tested with me did try the paddles and liked them and I know Acura tried to make it fun. True, the 1.5l Integras are not powerhouse, but they are plenty of power for most people and its PLENTY FAST. My only gripe with CVT is the sound. I can't get over the CVT drone! If you have your music loud, may not even notice, especially in Sport mode. The 6MT is absolutely more fun. Even if I was in stop-and-go traffic, I'd opt for the 6MT. I still absolutely love my Aspec 6MT. Speed cameras?!
@@PlasmadaeDal yes bruv speed cameras everywhere, as in if u go at least 9miles or over there will be a giant flash that takes a pic if your tag and u get at least $40 ticket, all over DC, Maryland and Virginia and it sucks, that and we also have horrible traffic hence why I have little interest in investing too much money into a race car when I can rarely open up without consequences
@deegee8042 That's a bummer! The 6MT will at least give you all the feels of engagement and fun while not having too much power to be worried about. The Aspec definitely is fast, but on a smaller scale hehe. What people say is slow car fast. With those speed traps hidden all over, sounds like you'll be trying to find some canyon roads outside of DC on the weekends! I like to get to the canyons every Saturday morning, if I can, because like you say, Regular city driving just doesn't quite cut it. However; the other option you may want to consider is the ITS! It's not quite as comfy as the Aspec, but it's a LOT of power but comfortable. No memory seats like the Aspec tho :/ It's got some race car in it, but still being really nice. I still believe the Aspec is one of the very v3st daily drivers on the market!
Yea bro I agree, canyon and little random windy roads are whats up and thankfully we do have some here and there. I had a red integra years back when i was 24 ish and I think its cool I have one again 😅 . I would love to stick with the Integra I love it. If i can i would like to swap to the manual…. If I cant the CVT will do and I would also do some minor mods eventually like adding 40-50lbs of hp/trq, some exhaust, tinting windows and maybe a wrap/body kit, and rims when they get old or scratched, which a sadly got a teeny one against a curb 🤬
@deegee8042 No way!! I love Integras as well, as you may have guessed from my other videos. I still have my OG '98 GS-R, and still drive it! When Acura announced the new Integra, I was suuuuper excited! These cars are so great! I'm really curious what the future holds ;)
I totally get it....but this is not the regular experience you get from the Accord or Civic CVT...this thing is great! If you were blasting the stereo, you won't really even notice. It's so good, I call it "The Acura Dual-clutch CVT"!
Nice review.I prefer the manual but all these subsribers and you tubbers that bag on the cvt in the Acura and try to claim its slower than a Honda fit are not realistic.Its mathematically impossible that it's slower than a Honda fit
@gwapogreg5837 Hahaha! The CVT is definitely not slow. I was expecting the transmission to be nearly terrible, but once I drove it, I was supremely surprised in a positive way! I've had other people drive the Integra CVT and I ask them, "Does anything seem weird with the transmission? ", and not that they are big enthusiasts like me, they do know cars, and what fun is (they love Integras too!) And they could not tell me anything was wrong or weird. I told them it was a CVT, and they didn't care at all. With the music blasting, it's very subtle that it's even a CVT because the thing MOVES! It's powerful and fast enough for most people as a CVT variant. I think we've all been scarred from the past and can't let go! For me personally, I love the 6MT Aspec so the CVT would never cross my mind, but even driving the CVT up the canyon was a blast! (I just can't get over the fact that it is an Integra ANNNNND a CVT haha and the sound of the CVT ...otherwise, performance is great!) This car was my first time driving with a CVT, so to me, it felt just like a typical auto transmission. I didn’t understand the hate of this engine type, turns out the Integra did it right. Also, now I can use my other paw to eat ice cream. 🍦 😹
You doubted Acura for a year….. *BRO, you do realize the original integra was based on the civic platform too right.* Have you forgotten what the civic is, a simple reliable transportation. Also the CVT is intended for the people who want that added fuel efficiency. And the original integra was also an economy car.
I know, I know! And every time I hear CVT, I cringe, BUT! Teggy CVT is very good! And I really enjoyed myself. Check out my canyon carving video in the CVT--it was so fun! Economy is an attribute of Integra. And even the 6MT isn't too bad!
Edit: I traded my Subaru for a performance red Integra few days ago. They announced they will be canceling the performance red colour for 2025, so I had to get it quick!
Hahaha! Thanks for the feedback. What is a craft beer guy supposed to sound like for someone who is not familiar with that description? I have other videos that may be better, I'm sort of new to this, but have a passion for the cars... I do need to say, this really is a stream of consciousness form of video, and so the more I drove the car throughout the day, the more I liked it. This video was a span of probably 6 hours of driving in total and took the parts of the journey for me at the time (over a year ago). Watch something more recent and see what you think ;)
the 2023 Accord EXC CVT isn't bad either. I think Honda perfected it. don't wanna give too much praise just because I drive it, but mine isn't bad at all. the 1.5t is my concern and I wish Honda made 2L car without the hybrid, but I hope going forward they solve their oil dilution issue. It just scares me that my car has this boogieman of an issue.
Yeah, I think we all wish the CVT was never born, but now that it's here, at least Honda makes the best , right? The Engine I'm sure will be fine with proper maintenance :D
@JoseRivera-li8tr I wouldn't say it's the likely boogie man. Honda/Acura make some of the best engines in the world, hands down. As long as you replace the oil and take care of it, you should be fine generally. Obviously there will be anomalies, but those are edge cases that sometimes can't be explained. Honda has enough experience that it's usually the drivers neglecting their engines that cause true failures. It's seriously difficult to pinpoint those issues sometimes, but still get reported as an incident.
@@PlasmadaeDal You want to talk K- series. I agree 100% But the LB15 series has tiny head studs, and questionable injectors with high failure rates. There is a reason they are on backorder. Maintenance will only get you so far when there is a flaw in the design. Unless they redesigned them for the Integra
@JoseRivera-li8tr Anything is possible, I guess, but these are old issues we're talking about and Acura isn't gonna bring back one of the biggest names in automotive history (The Integra), only to provide a ticking time bomb scenario. To date, there are no recalls whatsoever on the 2023 Integra, so with it being out roughly 20 months now, that's pretty dang great! 😀 I've got 17k miles on mine and still drives just like the day I bought it (Amazing ;) )! Alas, time will tell (5-10 year timespan), but there is no reason to hesitate buying the Integra, it's high quality and high throughput with excellent reliability projected. No need to worry about these past reports, Honda/Acura takes all of the incidents and addresses them, and the Integra is one car they are relying on selling the most of (being their gateway product). And they received the award, "Best Car of North America" in 2023--this is a showing of quality. Trust me, Acura can't afford to produce terrible products, they need to succeed and the only way to do that is to continually improve their products. The 2024 Integra Type S was also engineered with the same sort of dedication, and that car is nearly flawless in both aesthetic design and engineering! It's actually pretty amazing what Acura has poured into Integra, I've been very impressed. No car is perfect, but let's wait and see! It only gets better from here!

After all of this, tho, I'm still in love with the 6MT, as this is the experience I love. I do get the stop-and-go traffic though :)

It's a fantastic engine! How are you with the sounds? As long as I crank the music up, I don't even notice it's a CVT, really. I call it, The Acura Dual-clutch CVT I thought it was so good!

@zayfuentez It does a pretty good job of it as well....the sounds tho.....if the SOUNDS are important to you, you wanna go with either the Integra 6MT or Type S. The TLX Is a great option if you really want an auto....but if sounds matter not, then CVT Teggy is great!

Got an A-spec tech Teggy after my lease on my 2.0t accord was up. And even after coming from that 10AT on the accord, the CVT on the integra is very impressive. I love the way it’s tuned and the exhaust sounds pretty okay

I totally agree with you! I was FLOORED at how good it actually is, and my two videos are proof that Acura found a way to make the world's best CVT. We should officially call it "The Acura CVT" because it really has created a quality experience while retaining the Integra spirit!
Especially in Sport mode is such a good experience and really does liven up the whole dynamics!
I can't drive manual so interested about if I want to commit to CVT due to concerns about reliability and that it's not as good as traditional automatic
@DonThanh As far as reliability, I would not be concerned, even one little teensy bit. Honda has completely perfected the CVT and has proven over the test of time how reliable they are. The Civic, which is a super successful car has the CVT and has had great reliability.
My concern with the CVT for the Integra was not about reliability, but actually the performance aspect...CVTs have not been synonymous with "Fun". The Integra is most definitely Synonymous with Fun so when the twain appeared, I was extremely confused haha! Because, why in an Integra?
After driving this CVT Teggy, I have come to know that I shouldn't doubt Acura's decision, because it turned out to be a GREAT performer! Coupled with the 1.5l engine, which is a complete GEM, I actually call it, "The Dual-clutch CVT" ;) It's THAT good! I now understand why Acura was able to get away with it hehe.

8 months and 5000 miles in with the A-Spec Tech CVT. 30+mpg, great handling, love the ELS system. No issues with acceleration at all. Night and day difference compared to a 2014 Altima 4 cylinder I once owned where my foot would be on the floor and the car would hesitate to get up to speed.

Good to hear. The only CVT I owned was a 2013 Altima and it made me really hesitant to consider a car with one again. It's my only hesitation about the Integra.

I had fit and finish issues with the Integra and the dreaded sticky steering wheel issue, google sticky steering wheel Integra or civic and you’ll see what I’m talking about. Cvt was responsive but noticeable turbo lag on a hot day. Seats also weren’t comfortable. I no longer recommend the Integra. Driving a cpo sh-awd 2023 TLX a-spec now and it’s a massive improvement. Traded the Integra after a year and took a big hit on depreciation but it was worth it
What percentage do you drive on highway vs city?
In big citys manual transmission is a pain just two days in miami with integra MT and you will be trade in for anything automatic cvt or not . Trust me i lease my integra cvt and the manua transmission was cheaper $2000 and i got the cvt . Yes MT is more for enthusiasm but for normal people not . The cvt in the integra is pepy and in my opinion is very good.

I bought a base model 2024 Integra this week. My previous car was a 2015 VW Golf 1.8 TSI S 2-door 5MT and while I enjoyed rowing my own gears in that car, the CVT in the base model Integra isn't too bad, honestly. I just needed to adjust my driving style so that I hit the gas to get up to the appropriate speed. Also, I find that I feel less exhausted when I arrive at places compared to driving my manual Golf.
That's great! I really enjoyed driving this car and by the end of the day, I was a true fan of it. I'll definitely recommend those car to anyone who is opposed or doesn't want the 6MT, which is my favorite, but as you mentioned, it's really actually quite great! I was expecting a bad experience, but was totally surprised!
I think it would have been cool if they carried over the 8-speed DCT from the ILX into the integra, but the CVT is actually an incredibly comfortable transmission for putting around town. I have that in my current 2023 Civic EX 1.5T. Of course, the Integra can still be purchased with a manual transmission for those who want to row their gears.
My guess is that Acura looked into it, but they had CVT dialed in so well with Civic so they tried it....annnnnd Acura was probably like, "Wow! This is actually good! We don't need DCT...." hehe. My thoughts, not Acura's haha

Just last month I got a '24 ASpec Tech with the 6MT. It's great. Only two nit pick things that the Integra doesn't have: 1. Homelink (all other Acura models have it as does the Civic Sport Touring) and 2. No rear wiper.
Homelink would be cool, but it drives the cost more, and since this is a gateway car, probably felt like it wouldn't be needed. I definitely would want homelink for convenience. The rear wiper tho, I don't want it. I'd rather have the sleek back window design ;)

I remember driving Honda HR-V with CVT a few years ago and thought that all CVTs are the same... Today I test drove 2023 Integra with CVT and was also kind of surprised about how well it performed. Even at 65 MPH, I was able to get some speed quickly without issues. Mostly this CVT when accelerating stays at around 5k RPM but does the job well.
Totally surprised me too! I've been in CVTs before and when I had a chance to drive it, I was so pleased that it was actually great, that I now call it "The Acura Dual-clutch CVT " haha! Did you end up getting the Integra, or are you gonna drive the 6MT first?
@@PlasmadaeDal I have a 2010 Acura RL which I like but wanted something different. I just test drove the Integra to see if I like it and I did. Unfortunately trade-in value for my car is too low for me to let it go. When I sell it, then I can purchase the CVT Integra. I wasn't good with stick shift to begin with :)
@Charkatak I would try to hold on the the RL.if you could! Always nice to have an older car that you're not too afraid to take in less ideal places. I would say the CVT is a sweet ride and a great daily driver and easy to live in. The 6MT is pretty easy to drive, I'd at least give it a try. Watch my tutorial on it and you'll be a pro in no time!

I am trying to keep my RL but if I purchase Integra, I can't park 2 cars. Please tell me this: I looked at few Integras at the dealership and they had rubber floor mats, trunk rubber mat and splash guards. However, I am finding out that these cars don't come with aforementioned accessories even on tech trim. Is that so?
@Charkatak Indeed, you just gotta practice :) The accessories are not included with the car, only the regular carpet mats. The all weather though, usually the dealerships include them as a protection package so you end up with them anyway. The mud guards are an add on.
I didn’t get to watch the whole vid, but how’s the road noise? I had a 2019 ILX and found it too loud at highway speeds.
Road noise is perfection. It's the perfect balance of engagement. You don't want it too quiet for such a spirited drive like Integra, so road noise is totally great. Watch my other video about the Cabyon Carver....that was what really blew me away!
As someone who drives in a large city with 30 mph speed limits, intermittent photo enforced school and park zones, traffic lights or stop signs every 4 blocks, and parallel parking, a manual wouldn't be fun. I'd rarely get out of 3rd. Just bought Integra as second car.
I bet you are loving it :) The brake hold feature is pretty cool, too. While I am definitely a fan of the 6MT, but in some circumstances, it does have some advantages. My other video I posted at the same time is the whole canyon, and I was just blown away at how smooth and quick it was. In sport mode, the dynamics change quite a bit making the Teggy CVT a true canyon carver!
Wish they used a DCT like the ILX
Lots of people love the ILX DCT. But being a skeptic-turned-believer, I now call this The Acura Dual-clutch CVT :) It's THAT good!

Honestly, if you can get over the sounds of a CVT, it's actually really good! I call it The Acura Dual-clutch CVT! :) I was shocked at much I liked it. The other video I did on the Canyon ride with CVT. Blew me away!
I have a 2013 Accord 4cyl CVT. And it's awfully slow. A Sentra with 120 horsepower can overtake me and I have 185 or something. Not a fun car to drive either; feels more inline to a Buick than anything. Looking for an upgrade.
I have bad knees especially on my left knee that keeps me from a MT. I used to drive a MT. I did lots of running and mountain jogging and fell on a rock with my knee and has been a problem ever since 2008. Some days is worse than others even to where I have to use a cane for half the day until it feels fine again. I'm afraid a MT would either agitate it more or if I have a bad knee day I there would be no way I could drive that day.
This is nothing like your Accord. Check out my other Canyon Video and you will easily see that. It's actually a BLAST to drive! Sorry about the knees, I haven't ran for two or three years myself due to massive running as well haha, totally get that. The clutch on the 6MT Aspec is silky smooth. Worth a test drove for both!

One thing StreetSpeed717 can learn from this is that in general, if you don't bother giving a car a test drive, then you should not bother bashing it (like what he did with NSX)
One thing I was surprised most was that I thought the CVT in general was just horrible, so I would never give it a chance and assume it's subpar all around. I doubted Acura's decision since I heard it was gonna have that. And so many were disappointed with Acura's decision. After driving the 6MT for 12 months and 12k miles, I had to give it a try. What I found out is that Teggy CVT wasn't just good, it was pretty amazing at how great it was. In sport mode up the canyon, my mind was seriously blown. Acura truly is a car company that doesn't just make functional cars, but the direction they are headed seems to be rooted back in the direction of the 90s. No more are they focused just on luxury....but I really think they are focused on Performance. The whole mantra of Acura creates only amazingly balanced driving experiences.
As for NSX, that is a super car that is special, even in the super car genre. It's a racecar that literally ANYONE can drive safely and have fun! And it's been that way since the 90s. Acura knows what they are doing, and I see some things they do may seem unconventional, but I trust their decisions will give me a super balanced and fun ride.
Have experience with driving some nissan and dodge cvts and there nothing like what my 2023 civic is

Do you think a certified service loaner Acura Integra base with 6K miles for a little over 28K is a good deal?
No. There are a few reasons for me...1. Those cars are driven HARD, they are like rentals. I'm sure they would be fine, but for 32, you'd have a brand new vehicle.
2. The depreciation once you drive a brand-new vehicle off the lot is substantial, so think of 2k depreciation instantly. That puts you at 30k or less...and it's brand new, and you know it hasn't been abused by folks driving it hard.
3. There's nothing like taking delivery of a vlnew vehicle, knowing exactly how it's been driven, and all of that. I'd recommend new....over the life of the loan, not much different (of course, interest rates are RIDICULOUS right now). If you plan on keeping it for a long time, should be good.
If you think you really want it, offer 24k OTD, and make sure they honor the 2 year warranty, etc.
Keep me posted on how that goes!
The Honda/Acura fans will have a hard time with decision making. Buy a manual so that Honda gets the message to not discontinue, or buy a CVT so that they can prove how Honda's CVTs are great CVTs?
Seriously, right? In both areas they are complete gems. My preference will be 6MT of coursez but the CVT going up the canyon was awesome 👌 👏 👍
They are charging $5K extra for the 6MT when I checked a few days ago on their website.
Yes, and it's totally worth it. It coats more money for them to make a 6MT than auto, but the only reason they have this option is for pure fun....and it totally is. Go test drive one and you'll see what I mean it's so good!
@@PlasmadaeDal They used to call them standard transmissions because manuals came with the car unless you ordered or bought one with an added cost automatic transmission. Now some don't charge for either transmission for certain vehicles, unless it's an extra cost upgraded one.
But some are just hard to find manuals, because they don't make too many, and some dealerships charger exorbitant prices for them. For the Integra, Acura is charging a lot. I don't doubt it's nice, but for me, it's fine with the CVT, as a luxury version of the Si with the hatchback utility.
If I got this, it would be my daily driver or toy car, but I am not so much a due hard enthusiast as some others. I older now, have some other interests and don't have the time and expense to enjoy driving around like that, but I'd I did, and had the money, I definitely would get a Type S instead, but that's overkill for me.
But it's great that we have the choices. 👍
It's not that the 6MT is $5,000 more, it's the trim level: "ASpec with Technology" that costs $5,000 more. The ASpec Tech comes in either a 6MT or the CVT. Both are the same price in that trim level.

@jjacob25101 Yes, Acura does a lot of research to justify doing things like 6MT. They have algorithms that will help offset the increased cost of the manual, right? The bottom line is, 6MT is produced less, because more people want an automatic, and because of that, costs more to make the 6MT (lower production means it costs more to make). So the trim levels help offset. They totally could do a 6MT at base trim, but that is a lost opportunity for them. The 6MT is more special, and more special is often more money in the auto industry. It's still better to pay more, because 6MT = Enthusiasts car, and why would an enthusiast want less of a car? Not me, I want the best option here, but at the same time, it's a balancing act, right?
how does this base Integra compare to Honda Civic sport touring hatchback?
Looks pretty similar. The Civic has slightly less horsepower, but similar amenities. I would bet the Integra has a little better ride and insulation, but they are fairly close. I haven't driven the touring, but the Civics are fun to drive by nature. I think where the Integra beats this is the Acura experience is better than Honda. Not that Honda is bad, but just better overall. The Integras come with 2 years of free oil changes from Acura and bumper-to-bumper warranty, which Honda doesn't do.
Plus, once you're in the base Integra, your path to other cars are pretty sweet, like the 2.0l Integra....wow! The CVT Integra will be one of the most sporty rides around.
As far as CVTs, the Integra has done something that makes you wonder if it is...it'll be noticeably faster and more responsive, but as a daily driver amenities are similar.
If you're considering both, you need to go drive in each and see which you like better. They both have something to love, and i love both styles a lot. I chose the Integra manual, and it's quite a bit nicer than the base ;)
You are absolutely correct. A CVT makes no sense in this car. No LSD. For that money and a hatchback get a Civic sport touring. Yea you loose 20hp and the looks, but you get more amenities in that top trim.
I would have been skeptical for the rest of my life until I actually drove it. The CVT they use in this is the very best available, and not only that, I think it is a Honda innovation to the point of it being totally acceptable, and even good! I now call it, "The Acura Dual-clutch CVT"!

@Precyze I think a big amenity if you can call it that, is the design. The Integra just looks better, and more sleek. That's not to say the Civic touring is not attractive, because I really like the design too! I just think the Integra looks better.
The other thing is, when you buy Acura, you are getting a better experience overall. The sales process, the service, and you'll like the smaller dealership than Honda, I feel.
The other thing here, is the engine....the 1.5l engine in the base Integra is impressive! It's the same engine as what is in the Civic Si, so I think this is a huge amenity.
Lastly, the trunk in the Integra is MASSIVE for a car in its class. Huge!
So if I was to choose the touring, VS Integra Base, I'd make CERTAIN to try both before you make your final decision :)

ive had the 2024 Aspec w/tech CVT trying to convince my Waifu to lets us switch to manual, however in the Washington DC area traffic is always present and it sucks and we have speed cameras everywhere too. I will say tho, I love the Integra and just trying to figure out if its safe or worth using the paddle shifters at all? Thoughts??? But the integra is sweet as long as you arent trying to flex against more serious type race or street cars but its a refined, smooth chill ass city cruiser for sure and super convenient to multi task while driving in stop and go traffic if you are super OCD or ADHD like me 🤣 Cheers! P.S. I think performance red looks best for the Integra
@deegee8042 The performance Red looks stunning, I agree. Acura nailed the colors on the Integras for sure. As far as the paddle shifters, I never bothered trying during test. I was so surprised at how well the CVT performed that it was enough for me! My other video of the canyon drive also solidified it for me. My friend who tested with me did try the paddles and liked them and I know Acura tried to make it fun.
True, the 1.5l Integras are not powerhouse, but they are plenty of power for most people and its PLENTY FAST. My only gripe with CVT is the sound. I can't get over the CVT drone! If you have your music loud, may not even notice, especially in Sport mode. The 6MT is absolutely more fun. Even if I was in stop-and-go traffic, I'd opt for the 6MT. I still absolutely love my Aspec 6MT. Speed cameras?!
@@PlasmadaeDal yes bruv speed cameras everywhere, as in if u go at least 9miles or over there will be a giant flash that takes a pic if your tag and u get at least $40 ticket, all over DC, Maryland and Virginia and it sucks, that and we also have horrible traffic hence why I have little interest in investing too much money into a race car when I can rarely open up without consequences
@deegee8042 That's a bummer! The 6MT will at least give you all the feels of engagement and fun while not having too much power to be worried about. The Aspec definitely is fast, but on a smaller scale hehe. What people say is slow car fast. With those speed traps hidden all over, sounds like you'll be trying to find some canyon roads outside of DC on the weekends! I like to get to the canyons every Saturday morning, if I can, because like you say, Regular city driving just doesn't quite cut it. However; the other option you may want to consider is the ITS! It's not quite as comfy as the Aspec, but it's a LOT of power but comfortable. No memory seats like the Aspec tho :/ It's got some race car in it, but still being really nice. I still believe the Aspec is one of the very v3st daily drivers on the market!
Yea bro I agree, canyon and little random windy roads are whats up and thankfully we do have some here and there. I had a red integra years back when i was 24 ish and I think its cool I have one again 😅 . I would love to stick with the Integra I love it. If i can i would like to swap to the manual…. If I cant the CVT will do and I would also do some minor mods eventually like adding 40-50lbs of hp/trq, some exhaust, tinting windows and maybe a wrap/body kit, and rims when they get old or scratched, which a sadly got a teeny one against a curb 🤬

Nice review.I prefer the manual but all these subsribers and you tubbers that bag on the cvt in the Acura and try to claim its slower than a Honda fit are not realistic.Its mathematically impossible that it's slower than a Honda fit
@gwapogreg5837 Hahaha! The CVT is definitely not slow. I was expecting the transmission to be nearly terrible, but once I drove it, I was supremely surprised in a positive way! I've had other people drive the Integra CVT and I ask them, "Does anything seem weird with the transmission? ", and not that they are big enthusiasts like me, they do know cars, and what fun is (they love Integras too!) And they could not tell me anything was wrong or weird. I told them it was a CVT, and they didn't care at all. With the music blasting, it's very subtle that it's even a CVT because the thing MOVES! It's powerful and fast enough for most people as a CVT variant. I think we've all been scarred from the past and can't let go!
For me personally, I love the 6MT Aspec so the CVT would never cross my mind, but even driving the CVT up the canyon was a blast!
(I just can't get over the fact that it is an Integra ANNNNND a CVT haha and the sound of the CVT ...otherwise, performance is great!)

This car was my first time driving with a CVT, so to me, it felt just like a typical auto transmission. I didn’t understand the hate of this engine type, turns out the Integra did it right. Also, now I can use my other paw to eat ice cream. 🍦 😹
Yes, I was sad, sad, sad when I heard an INTEGRA was gonna have a CVT, but once I drove it, I was blown away! Plenty fast! Enjoy the ice cream!

If you had an Acura Integra S I would understand why you're so critical. But you just have the 2017 honda civic sport.
It's quite a unique drive...CVT performed quite impressively. Integra Type S though is a different car altogether I think 😀

Hahaha! Thanks for the feedback. What is a craft beer guy supposed to sound like for someone who is not familiar with that description? I have other videos that may be better, I'm sort of new to this, but have a passion for the cars... I do need to say, this really is a stream of consciousness form of video, and so the more I drove the car throughout the day, the more I liked it. This video was a span of probably 6 hours of driving in total and took the parts of the journey for me at the time (over a year ago). Watch something more recent and see what you think ;)

the 2023 Accord EXC CVT isn't bad either. I think Honda perfected it. don't wanna give too much praise just because I drive it, but mine isn't bad at all. the 1.5t is my concern and I wish Honda made 2L car without the hybrid, but I hope going forward they solve their oil dilution issue. It just scares me that my car has this boogieman of an issue.
Yeah, I think we all wish the CVT was never born, but now that it's here, at least Honda makes the best , right? The Engine I'm sure will be fine with proper maintenance :D
The true boogieman with this motor (1.5)is the injector and head gasket failure rates. A shame since its very efficient and powerful for what it is.
@JoseRivera-li8tr I wouldn't say it's the likely boogie man. Honda/Acura make some of the best engines in the world, hands down. As long as you replace the oil and take care of it, you should be fine generally. Obviously there will be anomalies, but those are edge cases that sometimes can't be explained. Honda has enough experience that it's usually the drivers neglecting their engines that cause true failures. It's seriously difficult to pinpoint those issues sometimes, but still get reported as an incident.
@@PlasmadaeDal You want to talk K- series. I agree 100% But the LB15 series has tiny head studs, and questionable injectors with high failure rates. There is a reason they are on backorder. Maintenance will only get you so far when there is a flaw in the design. Unless they redesigned them for the Integra
@JoseRivera-li8tr Anything is possible, I guess, but these are old issues we're talking about and Acura isn't gonna bring back one of the biggest names in automotive history (The Integra), only to provide a ticking time bomb scenario.
To date, there are no recalls whatsoever on the 2023 Integra, so with it being out roughly 20 months now, that's pretty dang great! 😀 I've got 17k miles on mine and still drives just like the day I bought it (Amazing ;) )!
Alas, time will tell (5-10 year timespan), but there is no reason to hesitate buying the Integra, it's high quality and high throughput with excellent reliability projected. No need to worry about these past reports, Honda/Acura takes all of the incidents and addresses them, and the Integra is one car they are relying on selling the most of (being their gateway product).
And they received the award, "Best Car of North America" in 2023--this is a showing of quality. Trust me, Acura can't afford to produce terrible products, they need to succeed and the only way to do that is to continually improve their products.
The 2024 Integra Type S was also engineered with the same sort of dedication, and that car is nearly flawless in both aesthetic design and engineering! It's actually pretty amazing what Acura has poured into Integra, I've been very impressed.
No car is perfect, but let's wait and see! It only gets better from here!
