I sweated this question because I didn't have an answer. I like the Mets. My friends poke fun of this. They like the Yankees. I wanted to be a Marine. My brother said join the USAF because "it's better". We don't always have a conscious reason for our decisions. I applied to a large department and hiring comes in spirts. They hadn't hired in 4 years and then were putting on over 300 cops. Applicant Investigations were overworked with annoying paperwork. They were also hiring civilian and school crossing guard positions. They appointed some cops without their backgrounds being completed. That violates State Civil Service Law now. It was easier to pass someone than starting all over and begin with someone else. I'm from a large department with an Applicant Investigation Bureau. Surprisingly, they never asked why I wanted to be a cop. They have 8 positions but only 6 are filled. Then, they're entitled to days off. I've seen them working till 11 pm and on weekends. In smaller departments, line personnel do this work. I doubt they really want to do it either. We want to appoint the best people. Nobody is a squeaky clen. Act and dress your best. Sell yourself. Don't be paranoid. We want to help people, not DQ them. If you lie, you're dead. Lying is unforgiveable.
I have my online assessment tomorrow and I would just like to say you have given me the courage to go in wholeheartedly and smash this assessment. Thank you so much ☺

Interesting thank you
Where else can I get away with it?
Does the same advice apply for the application form question?
