    Let t = x^2-2, then -P(x)P(-x) = -(x^2+1)^2+x^10 = (t+2)^5 - (t+3)^2 := R(t) has roots ±r_i and the answer -(2^5-3^2)=-23 follows by Viete

    Bro this is great, honestly I got a bit confused at the substitution part where you used r(i) and x(i) but that one substitution made this polynomial question so much easier and you could suddenly use the root formulas

      Its a standard variety, iguess , but still to be dealing with such variations is a tough and brave decision in its own

    Thank you for this, but wouldn’t it just be easier to factor the polynomial P(x) using the divisor rule and synthetic division, and then plug the roots into the polynomial Q(x)?

This is his older sister, I'm in my first year of uni and I think my brother is extremely talented and smart ◡̈ I personally just do not find math very interesting so I don't spend time studying it, I'm more of a humanities person, but still understand all these problems that he's covering (had to do them for my HSC)
