I was concerned at first that an expansion would lead to the Hello Neighbor or Bendy syndrome. But when I heard Dread X, those worries went away. They've had a good track record.
There's always the worry that a dev is listening TOO much to their fans and loses complete track of whatever story they were going for. Bendy and HN were perfect examples of that, too. Bendy was a mess, and I remember at one point, I think around chapter 4 or so, I put my Switch down and said out loud "what the actual f-ck is happening right now? Who thought this was okay to publish?"
@@Esuerc In HN's case I think they got too into the mystery/lore crafting since after chapter 1 everything steadily devolved into madness. They should have kept it simple with a dynamic AI that won't break against the house geometry. I don't think the devs here will fall into the trap.

@@maniacgreen8609 I worry this one is gonna do it wrong, what made the very first one creepy is that it took a long time to show something was "off" about the tapes. Went from creepy random unknown tapes to cliche writing and drawings on the wall but ooooo spooky just like in Slender.
Well it’s nice that you think it has potential. The game has never been creepy to me, it was obvious from the start what the format was like. Low quality kid-friendly cartoon that looks innocent enough but then “all of a sudden” the cartoon glitches and the characters start acting out of script and we find out there’s an evil entity in it the tapes that terrorises people. The game is pretty much just another analogue/digital horror game. It was never subtle to begin with but the latest version is too obvious with the spooky signs and writings.
Man, from a simple GameJam entry to a full fledged game picked up by a publisher! I love it when simple games like these are able to go so far! Of course it wouldn't have been possible if not for youtubers like Manly giving the game attention, props to the developers for making it this far!
I usually don't like this more simplistic 3d style, even in this context (though I respect its use it isn't my thing), but they really utilize these models effectively; they're a lot more expressive and readable than most low-poly models and they work well w/their surroundings to make a cohesive picture. the corrupted/demonic amanda is especially well-done, as is seeing wooly up-close. the voice actors are knocking it out of the park, too. amanda's sounds perfect as a mildly-patronizing but lighthearted Dora-type and excellently dips into annoyed/frustrated/angry with just the right subtlety. wooly's handles fear realistically - not too over-the-top nor understated - but still manages to do his job of blending into the sidekick role; he manages to convey which lines are being fed to wooly, which wooly's improvising but IC, OOC comments, etc. they feel very natural.
The dev is pulling off an amazing two-for-one with the style of visuals and audio - on one hand, it's simpler and lends itself to small teams and time constraints, which makes sense because this was originally meant to be a very brief game-jam game. On the other hand, the low-poly graphics and VHS audio are absolutely perfect for capturing the vibe of that era of really awkward and almost creepy cartoons when 3d animation was just beginning to become widespread. The game is really charming because it knows how to take itself seriously to get the right level of fear, but knows to loosen up enough to let the obvious Dora-the-Explorer parody shine through
@@drawingdragon Big agree! For some reason your videos haven't been in my feed lately. Love the gameplay vids.
Aww, I guess that happens weirdly sometimes. Maybe do the notification bell thing to make sure you see! :)
@@NaturalFlirtGamer yeah I made sure it was on. I watch his videos often. Not sure why it stopped suggesting his vids. Thanks for the help 🖐️
I'm interested to see where this goes, the premise is a tad generic but I like the presentation. Still I'm always happy to see a small developer be given a chance.
Never have I been early for this, I'm in for a good time
Will I regret watching this right before bed? Yes. Am I going to watch it anyway and totally enjoy it? Also yes.

No, I don't believe it was changed, though I believe the scene after you trying to burn the tape is new.
The scariest part is that you can type and scroll with a mouse on a vhs tape.
Manly's upload schedule's been pretty intense lately, it's fine if you want to take a break or smth
That aside, it's a really clever way to announce the release date lmao
