In other news, I saw Endgame a couple of days ago and it was some goooood shit. If only we could have gotten an MvC game based on that and Infinity War instead. I still want my playable Nebula, dammit.
Can you imagine what a playable Ant-Man would've been like? There was so much potential for newcomers, and while we got a handful of good ones, there were way too many recycled characters from UMvC3. I guess Capcom took the "recycle it, don't trash it" message from some of their arcade games too literally.
It really is a waste. I wouldn't have even minded a mostly MCU cast if we'd actually ended up with more of the MCU characters, but it just feels so paltry. No Star Lord? No Drax? No Nebula? No Vision? No Scarlet Witch? No Ant-Man, or Wasp? Hell, the base game didn't even have Bucky or Black Widow; that's how little they cared.
While I'm somewhat indifferent to Ultron Sigma as a concept, he's a pretty good boss, I should say. He looks cool and has a good moveset, even if it is derivative of two other characters in the roster (but it's justified, as he's a fusion). They had no excuse not to make him playable, though. With a few balance tweaks, he could've easily joined the playable roster. And Ultron Omega could've had his own mode, like Galactus before him. But like you said, no one knows what they were thinking when they left him as a sub-boss and nothing more. What intrigues me the most about the T-poses isn't how silly they look, but the fact that they're there in the first place. So that means that the victory screen renders are the actual 3D models and not just pictures? On a side note, some people have compared Ultron Sigma to Dark Kahn from MK vs. DC, as their concept and execution is similar. And they're both unplayable, amusingly.
That Dark Kahn comparison is spot-on, really. Particularly as MK vs. DC really wanted to be the MK equivalent of Marvel vs. Capcom, but oh lord it wasn't. As for the poses being 3D models, that doesn't surprise me too much that a game as lazy as this would cut corners to the point where they couldn't even be bothered to make proper victory pictures. And indeed, Ultron-Omega should have had a mode and Ultron-Sigma should have been playable. But most of this game is "shoulda coulda woulda" in general. Most of the decisions here are just outright baffling.

I wouldn't mind if they actually use that as a base for Sigma's armor/design in the next Mega Man X game (X9). In fact, if you ever played Mega Man X8, Sigma (at least the real one, early on the game, you would come across a copy of him bearing his traditional appearance) had an unique design wherein he resembles an ancient stone demon, so why not? Just take out all the Ultron/Marvel references, have a few adjustments, and boom. Also, in case you didn't know, Captain America and Winter Soldier actually have a special team super move in this game, and yes, they're only ones to have as such. A missed opportunity for all the other playable cast to say the least (ESPECIALLY X AND ZERO). In the case for Sigma and Ultron, they could have at least gotten a special team super move wherein they fuse and turn into Ultron-Sigma, granting access to all his moves for like 30 seconds or so (in other words, the only legitimate way to play as him without the use of hacks). Both Sigma and Ultron's lifebars remain as such (think of ARIA from Killer Instinct if she activates her Instinct Mode), so you have to watch out, should one of them have dangerously low health and it's completely depleted upon being damaged, the fusion will end quickly. I didn't actually know about that Cap/Bucky team super move, holy shit. That's badass. What wasted potential, but that's this game in general. An Ultron/Sigma fusion special would have been a really good idea, now that you mention it, but it seems Capcom had no desire to use good ideas in this game. As for those videos, I remember seeing Max's one and being amazed that Infinite had been hacked (and hacked online, no less) so damn quickly. As for the third one with Modok, I'm a little surprised you didn't notice that I responded to Datehack's/"Game Modding Channel"'s obnoxious comment in the comments section. Modok being vaguely usable is pretty novel though, but I guess it means he's also just a reused asset from UMVC3 as well.
Ultron Sigma, along with Thanos, were among the only decent things in the story mode (I also like Morrigan since we had a rare moment with doing more than just flirt). I have seen it speculated that Capcom's executives forced the story idea in given how bare bones it is, in an attempt to ape MK and Injustice. The sad thing is that Netherrealm's story telling is sadly overrated. Capcom's storytelling in it's fighting games is in some ways worse because it is just boring. The only thing they seem to do right is jokes. Well that and actually selling their villains as a threat. Street Fighter V actually let the player control Bison, Netherrealm has this odd aversion to players controlling villains, and MVCI did open up with Ultron Sigma demonstrating how badass he was. Maybe it's time someone else handled Marvel license for fighting games. After their work with Dragon Ball, I would like to see Arc take a stab, while hopefully keeping their fetish for players controlling someone who loses a fight in check. That isn't a surprise in their games, it's a thumbprint of theirs by this point so they need to STOP IT.
I mean, "less" is pretty relative as a term!. An atom bomb is less powerful than a hydrogen bomb, but they're both pretty devastating. Like both versions of Ultron-Sigma here.
Quite fun, I have to say. He's basically like a powered-up version of regular Ultron, with a few of Sigma's moves thrown in as well. His damage output and combo-potential are both pretty damn high, and I definitely found him one of the more fun bosses to play as.
He is, certainly, but they could have done a toned down version of him, or made it so that you could only him and no other characters, similar to the giant characters in Tatsunoko vs. Capcom.

I manually hacked the game on order to play as them. I'll make a tutorial on how to do it at some point but that won't be for a while, currently.
