Thank you for crowing the reeds, then describing in words the "definition" of that crow characteristics and then a quick and easy fix that most people could have a good chance at executing correctly. I think this will be helpful in training my ear to understand the reed problems and no nonsense fixes.
Baking soda, ultrasonic cleaner distilled water and a tooth brush. I do use hot water (as hot as you can stand)only for the insides of a reed. Water pick if you have one.
Thanks Fabian Danubio for your message - I can't see it anywhere now though I got the email! The instrument is a Leitzinger! And you can find more info on it at www.tomhardybassoon.com/leitzinger.php and on my blog musicmatters-bassoon.blogspot.co.uk/2013/05/my-leitzinger-bassoon-adventure.html
Thickness is relative! But a FLEXIBLE and responsive reed is going to be easier to allow vibrato as opposed to one that takes a lot of air pressure just to speak at all!

Excellent video, thanks for posting. I stopped several times to run to my reed desk and try things you discussed. Very helpful!
Thanks guys, I got a scales test tomorrow
Thank You for this video ! It was interesting to watch and listen 😊

Is there a correlation with reed thickness and ease of vibrato? Thanks

Do you still make and sell reeds?
you look a bit like our mayor :)
Aren't they reeding too much into it? 😉
