I remember seeing this on Don Kirshners Rock Concert as their US introduction. I was all in on this album. I played in bar bands back then and their sound was awesome. Gritty and rough but great guitar tone.
Pyro was a great Album, but High N Dry is a masterpiece front to back. Listen to High N Dry, then jump ahead to Hysteria. What a meltdown of aggression, and serious riffs. Allen losing his arm was what really canned Def Leppard musically. If they could have replaced Willis with Vivian Campbell in 1983? Holy shite!!!
def leppard were designed originally to be one of the worlds greatest rock n roll bands......they started strong but pete willis was part of the original formula
Siempre he sido fan de def Leppard me encanta joe Elliott su voz su entrega de todos en el escenario.recordar a Steve Clark aunque se fue en 1991rip.escucharlo me emociona con su guitarra.
Def lep lost this sound without the clark/willis combo......sad. those 2 are or were on the same level as Allen collins and Gary Rossingron with skynyrd. Those combos dont happen very often.
I wouldn't say Genesis, more like an all girl choir on steroids, throw in some 70's glam rock stolen riffs and a heafty dose of disjointed songs with computer inserts, and top off with an obsession with writing lyrics that consist of stating the diference between men and women, all sung in a comical drawl by Bully Elliott.
Yes, def leppard wrote "let it go" before quiet riot brought out "metal health".It seems like it's a rip off of "let it go". I dont know what def leppard think out it.
if Pete had stayed, they'd been harder on Pyromania, but even in a guitar for the practicing musician interview Def said they're more Duran Duran than Maiden .... they could have gone either way, they choose. High n Dry is in my top 5 growing up. Screaming for vengeance , Peace of Mind, For those about to rock, shout at the devil and Randy Rhoads..off the top of my stoned head..
I spoke with Joe Elliott very briefly in the late 90's. They had just brought Vivian Cambell on board. He said that were longer going to do any older material than Pyromania. It was pretty disappointing to hear. In my opinion, the early stuff up to Pyromania was real heart and soul of Def Leppard. I never had much interest in them after that. BTW - Vivian is world class guitar player.
Not gonna say Pete over Steve, loved em both, I really liked the grittier sound of Pete though. Wish it would have worked out for him and the band. RIP Steve, you are missed.
How hypocritical of the band to fire Pete for being an alcoholic while keeping Steve, who was an equal alcoholic and drank himself to death. No disrespect meant to Steve, but that was a dick move.
Most likely. He liked Hamer. Not many musicians played Hamer back in the day. I know that K.K. Downing and Glenn Tipton did. Can't remember any other names.
@@TheDSMIVTRSame! They've also become progressively more boring over the years; Diamond Star Halos is absolutely terrible. Pete Willis-era Def Leppard actually ROCKED.
Pete Willis.....thumbs up!!!!!
Mike Price u and I are one brotha'.
His songwriting is the reason I liked DL through Pyromania. They lost me after that.
Pete Approves! 👍👍

Best lineup of Leppard
I remember seeing this on Don Kirshners Rock Concert as their US introduction. I was all in on this album. I played in bar bands back then and their sound was awesome. Gritty and rough but great guitar tone.
Steve clark was the soul of Def Leppard. it was lost after Steve passed.
steve and pete.absolutely
rip steve love pete too what a team !!
Pete Willis should never be forgotten, dude had killer sound.
Willis/Clark> Everything thereafter....
My all time favorite Def Leppard song. And one of their heaviest!
Pete Willis you the man 🤘
def leppard were designed originally to be one of the worlds greatest rock n roll bands......they started strong but pete willis was part of the original formula
Yeah they should have stuck to their original plan. Mutt wanted to make maximum money on a pop album before he bolted, he then left them high and dry.
Solo was Steve, the outro was Pete. Team work. 👍

Just bought a new Shirt cuz of this song!!! What a Sound!!! GO!!!!
Better late than never Phil 😂
Whatever your opinion..... THEY were for real!!! They are Still going!!! Fuck yeah!!!
I miss Pete
I miss Steve more - both were crucial to their early sound
Pete seems to be having fun here, many videos seem like he isn't enjoying it this much. He was a big crush of mine back in the day.
This album great, next great, Hysteria almost great, then all downhill from there.
DEF LEPPARD JUST HIGH`N`DRY ALBUM!

or even Richards/Taylor from the Rolling Stones. 🎸
Agreed. Or even Downing/Tipton of Judas Priest.
Pete's songwriting is the reason I liked DL through Pyromania. They lost me after that.
Pete Willis the best!
Not for my money. I love my sweetheart Phil.
@@JennyCollen-td4fqPhil is "poppier" than Pete was; I liked Pete's style better. He gave Def Leppard that gritty working-class feel.
this album .......fucking bad ass
Damn … I had such high hope for these boys in the early 80’s. Once Willis left they ceased being a more intricate AC/DC and morphed into Genesis.
When they were still taken seriously
Exactly. 👍
I still take them seriously, I don't know what the problem is. They're still a great band
Great song
When Joe sings the verses, always reminds me of Metal Health by Quiet Riot
Yes, def leppard wrote "let it go" before quiet riot brought out "metal health".It seems like it's a rip off of "let it go".
I dont know what def leppard think out it.

I like your list but I'd toss out Shout for Scorpions Blackout
Willis co-wrote many tracks and played guitar on Pyromania... Collen was just brought in to do solos...
Mr the beast Pete wills an the amazebwsh steamin Steve Clarke
Willis
Seen em at the Orange Pavillion in San Berdoo on this tour, anyone out there remember that one?
My uncle took me to see Ted Nugent. The opening act was Def Leppard. Been a fan ever since.

Steve Clark had an enabling alcoholic father... Sid Vicious had an enabling addict mother. Neither did their kids any favors.

Pete Willis over Steve Clark any day . Hey Pete is sti alive . Bad move early by the band .(Joe)
Wrong

Meh...They may have stayed heavier instead of going commercial. Maybe. Maybe not.

Sounds like AC/DC
Roberto Borja Borja I agree
Mutt Lange produced both of them, so...
but so much fucking better..
Drummer before he lost his left hand..

Is that Double Cut-away Steve is playing a Hammer?
SirJamalong Yes. That is a Hamer Special.
