Calculating Molecular Weight (number and weight average) for polymers

  • Molecular weight is an important for polymers. Since polymer processing typically produces a distribution of different chain lengths, both short and long, we need a tool that calculates the average molecular weight. We can do this based on number average or weight average. Degree of polymerization can then be calculated to determine the number of mer units along the polymer chain based on average molecular weight (number or weight averaged).
