Thanks for this informative video. I am failing to add the decoder to my acccount. I would like to use this to replace ou old Explora but I get an error message when I try to add it to our account. Would please advise on the correct steps?
We have 4 TV 'S on one property plus extra view. On our current explora we use an eye on each extra TV to change channels. Will we have this facility with the new Ultra decoder to change channels from the tv,s in other parts of our house.
As the Explora Ultra, and all other new generation decoders, do not have RF modulators any longer the TV-Link (eye) is not compatible with these decoders. The functionality can still be achieved by adding an external modulator with IR control to the installation - www.spacetv.co.za/product/tv-link-modulator-ch-21-69-double-side-band-avm01/
@@lfdp2023 thank you. I will confirm with one of my buddies tomorrow as he is an installer and will install one with a 4K tv to confirm. Till now, it has not been confirmed for my own peace of mind
The Explora Ultra Decoder does not perform the task of a router but has internal WIFI and therefore do not require the external WIFI dongle as used with other models of decoders
Dstv explora ultra work with build in wifi! Do i still need a wifi router? Will it work on farms where there is no selfphone signel or any wifi tower nearby?
yes you would indeed require a router to establish a connection with the DSTV Explora. The reference to the decoder's Wi-Fi receiver operating at frequencies ranging from 2GHz to 5GHz indicates the need for a Wi-Fi router to transmit signals effectively to the decoder.
The Explora Ultra has to be connected to a High Speed internet connection to be able to access the streaming services such as Netflix and Showmax Streaming services are also subscription dependent
For decoders with imbedded Smartcards the IUC number is present on a white sticker on the decoder. This can also be found in the “HELP” menu on the decoder
The Explora Ultra is fully compatible with Extraview installations The Heartbeat signal required for Extraview application will be transmitted / receives via the satellite connection port. Heartbeat will travel via the SMART LNB to other decoder/s
The Explora Ultra does require a active connection from a Satellite dish or communal distribution network to function - the decoder cannot work via WIFI only
Disappointed from Developers on oversight on RF slot so that the Explora Ultra can be the Main Decoder since we got Xtraview and can't be this new Decoder the Main Decoder. They need to come up with a latest version WITH RF slot
It has become an international trend for decoder developers to remove the RF modulator from set top boxes. The Explora Ultra can be used as the primary decoder in an Extra View setup. A MultiChoice Accredited Installer can be contacted for assistance in setting up decoders in ExtraView
Disney + is available on the Explora Ultra when connected to a high-speed internet connection as it is a streaming service - it is also subject to an additional subscription charge
Onboard WIFI (no need for external dongle) Apps available NetFlix, Amazon Prime, RUclips, ShowMax and DSTV - Can be used as streaming box without dish by using the apps
The Explora Ultra does not have a physical smart card. All new generation MultiChoice decoders make use of embedded smart cards To activate decoder use the Serial No and IUC No shown on the sticker on the bottom of the decoder. - IUC = Smart Card Number
How do you connect another decoder, ie old explora for extra view?

Where do you insert the smart card
It's an electronic Smartcard
Can I ask which store did you buy it at ?
Good day Katlego, follow the link provided: www.spacetv.co.za/product/dstv-explora-ultra-decoder-recmcexplora3-ultra/
Is the netflix thing exclusive to the ultra or can I upgrad my old explora firmware?
It's exclusive to the ultra
Does the decoder output in 4K?
In other words, is the 1080p output scaled up to 4K?
I think it outputs 4k hdr
@@lfdp2023 thank you. I will confirm with one of my buddies tomorrow as he is an installer and will install one with a 4K tv to confirm. Till now, it has not been confirmed for my own peace of mind
Some of the content is 1080p scaled to 4k. Currently there is no 4K content available on DStv but it might be available in the future
@@SpaceTelevisionSA assumed the upscaling happens on device? Have you guys done a video on this?
@@SpaceTelevisionSA so what content is 4K then as you said some 1080p content is upscale. So what content is 4K ?
Inshort the decorder can serve as a router?
The Explora Ultra Decoder does not perform the task of a router but has internal WIFI and therefore do not require the external WIFI dongle as used with other models of decoders
Hi is there a SIM card slot like the model 3a?
I’m faced with the same problem
Any advice, my decoder works with a 1m HDMI cable but not a 5m.
Issue could be related to the hardware (decoder /TV) or be based on the quality of the HDMI cable. It could also be a faulty HDMI Cable
@@SpaceTelevisionSA thanks for replying to my question
So with this decoder you cannot run a cable from the decoder to another room?
It doesn’t have an RF output port but you can run an HDMI extender or a longer HDMI cable.
You can use a rf modulate

@@Kern_gr it can connect to internet on its own? without wifi that is
How do I connect Netflix and Showmax? It keeps on saying currently unavailable 😢
The Explora Ultra has to be connected to a High Speed internet connection to be able to access the streaming services such as Netflix and Showmax
Streaming services are also subscription dependent
I find it very useless, you have to pay extra for 3rd party apps and you have to be on a higher package. 😢 android tv box is way better than this.
how do i get the smartcard number from the explora?
For decoders with imbedded Smartcards the IUC number is present on a white sticker on the decoder. This can also be found in the “HELP” menu on the decoder
No RF slots I see, therefore no extra view connection?
I think a diplexer can be used for such connection

Is it worth the upgrade though?
Not really
@@Kern_gr I would guess if you still have a "dumb" tv it would help bringing streaming apps to it?
If you own a smart tv, then it isnt worth it.
How to setup the installation wizard
Hi how do you connect to play please make a video
Can it support 4k...
The Explora Ultra does support 4K when 4K content is / becomes available
Does it use smart card
The Explora Ultra has an embedded SmartCard
Can I just operate this with wifi without a satellite dish?
The Explora Ultra does require a active connection from a Satellite dish or communal distribution network to function - the decoder cannot work via WIFI only
Hi pls assist I’m using communal dish is it possible to connect ultra explora to communal dish?
Do it come with card
Hi Jakes, The Explora Ultra has an embedded SmartCard
Is the remote backlit on the ultra and 3B decoders??
