  • This is a short collection of wildlife, nature and landscape recordings, highlighting some of my favourite scenes for August.
I came across this family of bearded tits while out for an evening walk along the coast. Their characteristic calls caught my attention, as did their wings twinkling in the sunlight. I was fortunate to get this footage before they flew off.
To get these shots of the chalkhill blue butterfly, I visited the site of an old Iron Age Fort, the butterflies were reintroduced here a few years ago and are doing well.
Another family I came across, while out for walk on the beach, were these ringed plovers feeding in one of the pools. They were difficult to spot against the rocks, but every so often they would make a quick dash, then stop and listen for creatures moving in the mud.
The grey heron, fishing in the early morning sunlight, was filmed from a public hide which allowed me to get these close ups. The green sandpiper was taken later from the same spot.
This video was recorded in 4k on a Panasonic FZ82 except for the heron which was filmed on a Panasonic G7 with a Leica 100-400 lens. The majority of the audio was recorded with the built in microphones.

Thank you, for such a beautiful videos, they are so inspiring, the colors are so picturesque .
Do you use any flat profiles for filming, nd or cpl filters? How much time you spend for color grading and filming in average.

I do use a variable ND filter on the F82 to avoid fast shutter speeds. I haven’t tried other profiles, I prefer to use a standard colour profile. I might spend a few minutes tweaking a couple of the clips if I’ve messed up the exposure or the lighting conditions changed. But generally I try and set the correct exposure and white balance on the camera, so I can use the footage without adjusting it later.
Thanks for the interest, I hope that answers your query.

Wonderful video, congratulations! Your panning is really fluid, what kind of tripod and head do you use?

Apologies for not replying. I use an old Manfrotto tripod with a 501 head. You can adjust the friction for both the tilt and the pan. There is a newer HDV version but I still prefer the old one.
