Sri Rangarajan Narasimhan strongly reacts on a case by case basis. So he is not against any person. He is only against incorrect interpreations of our sastras and itihasams. I think he is right and these misinterpretations should be contested and should not be left alone.

As a reader of the book Ramayana by Dushyant, I was shocked to read about retas of shiva responsible for lord Karthikeya's (Muruga) birth, while we still believe that Muruga originated from the sparks of Shiva's third eye 😭. Infact I didn't feel it like a spiritual book, rather a history-geography book.
When child grows up it will understand that spiderman, superman are all fiction. But if the child says the same thing for Rama and Hanuman we will get upset. So we can't compare .

I agree with Mr. Narasimhan in all points, the yuga calculation in the book is absurd and this questioner (Kiran) decided to support the book and asking utter most useless questions (Proved another useless Genz). Keeping kids in the frontline and they started battle against Sanātana Dharma, will never gonna win. Dear Kiraan In the chapter (Sarga)in Balakanda inwhich Rama's bith is given it also says that "sakshat Vishor ardha bhagam" meaning The real Vishnu taking 50% of his sakti has born as Rama. Kooraththazhvan in his stotra ' Athimanushasthava" has portraied elaborately the imoppsble deeds performed by Rama in mortal form. So, on the one hand Jayasri madam and others when they want to establish scientifically Rama;s date , they question even simple details in Ramayana like the height of Rama. It is said Sri Rama was 96 inches in height which is eight feet. We know historically, Rana pratap and Porus were around 7'6" in height, The Bijapur General killed by Saatrapati sivaji was7'6"', the mughal genaral killed along with horse in stroke by Rana pratap at Haldighat 7'9" etc are well recorded. Sage vyasa in Adiparva states that as the Pancha Pandavas were of divine origigin they were a head taller than ordinary people. In BrahmandaPurana which Dr. jayasri Madam quotes often states(ch.31,32,33) that very tall and hefty people arranged themseveles as Kshatriyas and offered as protectors of the society. There was even a anthropological group called Meganthropus Javanese man who were Jaints who lived in Java. All puranas and itihasas uniformly mention that the Rakshasas,even during Mahabharatha period were tall and hefty people reamed along with other ordinary people. In fact a forest of questins and doubts rise when we listen to Dr.Jayasree Saranathan's " Bharathathin Kathai " . Compared to this her openions on details on Ramayana.
Next time please get his recommendation on which English book can be read for Ramayana and Mahabharata. I have made a note of his suggestion regarding the kids book for Ramayana. Thanks for that.
A challenge to Rangarajan. The Transport Minister of Tamilnadu has categorically stated that Ramayanam is a fiction and no such person called Ram ever lived. This statement of a minister is more dangerous than the present controversy in which RN is embroiled. It is the best time for RN and his ardent followers to file a case in HC submitting the proof of existence of Lord Ram with Unimpeachable evidences gathered from Acharyas and settle the matter once and for all. I pray to the devotees of RN to take up the issue against minister in a Court of Law that the minister had hurt the Hindu Sentiments by denigrating Ramayana as a false concoted story and the person Lord Ram never lived. You will be doing a great service to your Acharyan RN.

Everything is possible. Faith begins where logic ends. I think we should agree with these epics. Eg. Fire spitting dragons are said to be a myth. But there is a bombardier beetle that can generate in its stomach 212 ° F by mixing 2 chemicals. Who knows? Rama could have performed many feats and lived for thousands of years.

It's a genuine question that is hurting me so much, i have many related questions, that clearly indicates that Bhagwan Shri Rama was a great example of human life and there is no need for him to live such a long life as claimed (remember i am not discounting the possibility of Bhagavan to live a long life), Bhagavan Shri Rama would not go against the Vedic scriptures and Vedic scriptures only says "Jeevema Saradha Satham" and the thirumaalai quotes the same in the third Paasuram "Vedanool Praayam Nooru Manithar tham puguvarralum" and Bhagwan Shri Ram in my humble opinion has no reason to spend 1000's of years. It's my genuine doubt and no one is answering it convincingly.
@@OurTemples i have other Slokas in the same Srimad Valmiki Ramayanam but they are generic and does not directly pointing at Bhagwan Shri Rama. Eg. Ma Sita Devi quoting a general public opinion of her times to show her happiness (the correct time of Hanuman Ji coming) it's at that time it's spoken (this may not tally with what people quote from Purana, about different life spans at different Yugas). This is in the Sundaragandam. And is one of the first sloka where joy is expressed by Seetha Mata to Hanuman after seeing him where she expresses her joy. कल्याणी बत गथा इयम् लौकिकी प्रतिभाति मे | एहि जीवन्तम् आनदो नरम् वर्ष शतात् अपि || And it's simply reminds me of the famous Tamil phrase "நெனத்தேன் வந்தாய் நூறு வயது" A similarly quote is done exactly in a very similar situation by Shri Bharat Swamy who was ready to do the agnipravesham and stopped by the same Bakht Hanuman Ji कल्याणी बत गाथेयं लौकिकी प्रतिभाति मे | एति जीवन्तमानन्दो नरं वर्षशतादपि ||

Everything is possible. Faith begins where logic ends. I think we should agree with these epics. Eg. Fire spitting dragons are said to be a myth. But there is a bombardier beetle that can generate in its stomach 212 ° F by mixing 2 chemicals. Who knows? Rama could have performed many feats and lived for thousands of years.
It's possible to live thousands of years - but what is the evidence in the same Srimad Valmiki Ramayanam is the question - only 1 sloka for that, tell me what happens every 1000'th year of Rama ?!

@@OurTemples this is not asked or I have not come across Dushyant Sridhar speaking or quoting this sloka. It's a genuine question that is hurting me so much, i have many related questions, that clearly indicates that Bhagwan Shri Rama was a great example of human life and there is no need for him to live such a long life as claimed (remember i am not discounting the possibility of Bhagavan to live a long life), Bhagavan Shri Rama would not go against the Vedic scriptures and Vedic scriptures only says "Jeevema Saradha Satham" and the thirumaalai quotes the same in the third Paasuram "Vedanool Praayam Nooru Manithar tham puguvarralum" and Bhagwan Shri Ram in my humble opinion has no reason to spend 1000's of years. It's my genuine doubt and no one is answering it convincingly.
@@OurTemples i have other Slokas in the same Srimad Valmiki Ramayanam but they are generic and does not directly pointing at Bhagwan Shri Rama.

Ma Sita Devi quoting a general public opinion of her times to show her happiness (the correct time of Hanuman Ji coming) it's at that time it's spoken (this may not tally with what people quote from Purana, about different life spans at different Yugas).
This is in the Sundaragandam.
And is one of the first sloka where joy is expressed by Seetha Mata to Hanuman after seeing him where she expresses her joy.

And it's simply reminds me of the famous Tamil phrase "நெனத்தேன் வந்தாய் நூறு வயது"
