Hardy, I want you to know that as a 60 year old woman, what you expressed in this song resonates with a lot of women and men. From the perspective of a woman, you hit the nail on the head with the 2 lyrical lines, "I just asked her where he was" and "wait in the truck". Those 2 phrases are so powerful when a woman has been beaten and hunted down by someone. From a man's perspective, there are men out there that have NO patients for someone who beats a woman and want to do what you portrayed in this song. It is lyrical GOLD and touches both men and women deeply.
I grew up with four older sisters and it was in stilled in me by my father to never raise a hand to a woman. I have a daughter that knows her older brothers and I will always say wait in the truck.
I am a father with 4 daughters and an ARMY vet, so trust me, this song resonates. If someone puts a hand on one of them I would gladly sit in the cell. Thank you for some real emotion.
Two sides to every story. My sister was very abusive to her kids dad. Bragged about it to our family, but with other people, she made herself to be a victim. I disagree with what he did because he wasn't man enough to go talk to find out what happened. If that was my son and some punk ass stranger who didn't know my son killed him. He wouldn't have made out of jail, because I would have put a hit on his head.
@@ginohunter3198 No doubt there are folks who lie. I was talking about if this was my daughters. If someone put hands on them, they would be on the buisiness end of me. No "hit" put on them. Just me. The way I was trained. Then I get to see the lights go out right before I go. World of difference though. I know how to clean up.
Im sorry, I hear what you are saying BUT sometimes our kids make bad mistakes and should deal with the consequences. They can stay or leave. IF it comes down to it, hypothetically no body, no crime.......................

For those of us that have lived this, we thank Jesus for this story. Thank you, Sir. Lord, bless you .
I can't stop crying. I was that woman years ago. So beaten down and feeling helpless. I stuffed bags full of what I could carry, got my 2 daughters, and ran away. It was hell and he tried to get me back, but I put a no trespass out on him, and he left me alone. Not all women are that lucky. This video was powerful and beautifully sung.
He's singing about an unrepayable Act of Mercy. What's really heartbreaking is that it needs to get to that point in this country dealing with some men, so called. (& apparently some women too.) Bless you darlin'. I've been there.
I'm a domestic violence survivor and this affected me. It describes my life. My ex choked me out and caused permanent damage to my esophagus and I can't eat . I was on feeding tubes for 5 Years. I now had a surgery that connected my esophagus to my small intestine so I can eat some things. I'm lucky to be here. I'm writing my story. I'm a survivor through Christ. Bless this man and his message. God bless you all.
I am so very sorry you went through such a horrific ordeal. I'm sorry to all the women who deal with this cowardly act either presently or in the past. It angers and saddens me as a man that this happens so much in our society. We as men need to do better! Protect, encourage, and built up women, not abuse and take advantage. I hope you have found peace now, and for all those still going through it, I hope peace will soon find you.
This song and video had me sobbing. It took me 14 years to escape the maker of my whiskey scars. My brother begged me to wait in the truck..Thank God neither of us had to. Thank you Hardy and Lainey. Opened up those old whiskey scars, and made me even more thankful for the life that I have now.
I was lucky. It took me only 2 years to leave. I have to move 2000 miles away with only what I could fit in my car. I’m glad you got out. Now I have 2 sons and a daughter. My boys would never raise a hand to their girl. My daughter would never tolerate it. My sons would not tolerate anyone raising a hand to their sister. I would revoke someone’s right to oxygen if they ever put their hands on children in violence. There should be a registry for these kinds of people. Men and women.
WOW!!! ANYONE that has been a part of the abuse, feels EVERY word of this song. I am a 76 year old woman and the tears of healing flow because of this song. My brothers were the ones that saved me and my 5 little boys. Thank you. :)
This song is amazing. I was in a very abusive relationship. Not just physically but emotionally, mentally and verbally. The physical part hurt but those wonds heal. The emotional and verbally abuse was the worst part. It always stays with you. I'm so sorry Glory Bee it happened to you.. so glad you got away from that and your brothers saved you.
I am a survivor of a horribly physically abusive relationship. When I got wheeled into the ER after days of being beaten with 2 broken bones, basically no hair and a busted up face, the doctor said I looked like a war veteran. It was a war. This song to me is amazing. All of us in DV at one point or another prayed or wished for a savior. This song got me. So strong. So powerful. So. It's real life, folks. So amazing.
My sister and I said the exact same thing when this song came out! We were both married to abusive men, in our 20’s. It was almost the unspoken norm in small town, Okla. Fortunately, we had each other for support and recognizing not only our self worth, but the emotional damage it would cause our children, growing up in that environment. We were lucky, we got out, went to therapy, and learned what a healthy relationship is! Not everyone is that lucky. More importantly, not every battered woman is the stereotypical, uneducated girl living in a trailer, married to a whiskey fueled abuser. My hell was a 3,800 sq. ft. home that looked like heaven from the outside.
Thank you for your beautiful words! I'm thrilled to hear my sound resonates with you so deeply. Your passion and connection mean everything to me - keep listening and feeling!🎶🎵🌸🌺
When I first heard this song I sat there with tears streaming down my face, as a DV Survivor I realized I am her. It took years to get out but I did and never looked back, the system can fail us, the hotlines can fail us. My angel came in the form of an Apartment manager, the night before it escalated, I fled to a friends with my 4 year old son. I walked in and asked for an apt. She took one look at me and asked my story. I told her, and she gave me the keys right then and there, everything else just feel into place. Thank you for this song.
As a DV survivor who lost my twin boys ...this song makes me cry cause I wish someone would have helped me when I didn't know how to ask. Thank you for bringing back real stories though song we definitely needed this 💜💜

As a DV survivor who took our two kids and ran after 13 years of living that I have to say this song, video was kick in the chest. I've never heard this before but I'm an immediate fan. My nightmare died this Feb after hiding for 22 years from him. Our children are grown now and living beautiful lives. We all can make mistakes in who we give our hearts to but there comes a time when you have to accept it and change it at All Cost.
It's sending the wrong message. So it's ok to take another person life and it's ok for the strange woman to drive off with that man's truck at the end of the video. And people say Rap music is violent wrong!!!! This video and song is so stupid makes no sense whatsoever
Very well said, there comes a time when it's a wrap, price be damned! I know I'm male and it doesn't seem to fit but it is what it is, I got my kids out of toxicity and broke the damn wheel doing it! None of my kids will go through this cause they know you can move on!
@@rob2927 missed the whole damn point... He gave up everything to give Her a life worth living and why wouldn't that include his truck? Does this song give you the impression that he was gonna walk away and need his truck?
Same I left my abuser 5.5 yrs ago. Never looked bk. Looked over my shoulder alot but never bk. He died 2 yrs ago. This song instantly hit home . I cried when I heard. So many times I wished someone woulda rescued me
@@rob2927 I was laughing my ass off at this post. I know what you're saying. Everyone is like well he got what he deserved. Just shows most people believe murder is justice.
So... U want ur Boo dead??? how dare u... Jk... learn to be stronger and better. There are so many more single men out there than women... Why... Because alot of women fall trap to Genes + Alpha Male... AKA liking the Tough Bad boy.... AKA the Alpha Lion... Well... hopefully people grow out of that and realize that security and showing some vulnerable qualities isn't too bad... But that mostly doesnt happen... Its about the genes/Alphamale... Sigh... I gave up at 25 lmao... I got a cat... Im good with her... Everytime I was outgoing and loving Id get women, but as soon as I started realling loving the woman... I apparently scared them away by being to vulnerable. What a crazy world...
heh... Basically there are 100 guys out there like this man... for all the scum bags that women choose... I have to say... I have some sort of resentment against these women who keep playing victim with these men...
i love that the man did what needed to be done. in that instance. but that being said , i have watched many an ole boy get his face and body pummeled by a woman who balled up her fists like a man and beat dude half to death cause ya just don’t hit a woman. well i call bs on that in those circumstances. i have had a woman drunk and wanting to beat up on me before , and when she made fists out of those hands and came in swinging i knocked that ass out like i would any other man. weren’t no beating given or received just a flat stop to the fight. be mad but no one gets to beat me for ffee
@@davehunt55I agree women are abusers also. This song hits towards Men and Women. Just so happens woman is being abused on here. No need to be offensive. So I guess now they gotta make another video of a man being abused. 🙄🙄
Love this song. I am a DV survivor. My husband nearly took my life in March of 2020. I was in ICU for weeks.. He was sentenced in November of 2020 to prison. Luckily our neighbors called the police that night. Saved me and our 2 children. 💜 *edited to say- If you are a victim of domestic violence, please reach out to someone. If you have to ask yourself if you’re in an abusive relationship, chances are, you probably are. You aren’t alone in this fight. There is a light at the end of that tunnel. We do recover 💜
I am a survivor. This song hit me hard. We need more angels like this. Except to say just put in the truck and leave. ❤ My Dad was my Angel. Thank you for this song, it's a trigger to some pretty bad memories, but it needed to said and your song let's people know there are good guys out there ❤
I don't understand how you said that the traffic and the future of the past to follow your own by let me tell you something you look in the future and follow up and let the past few times when you find that right love to take the store away just know that it's a God sent favor because God sent it to you I know how it feels I'm sitting and watch some I've had to run in and grab these m************ off of women and look this is what I do I know it
This song gives me chills! I want part 2, the prequel where his mom tells him as a kid to “stay in the truck” while she runs into their house to grab what she can while his dad is out of the house. Unfortunately dad shows up and puts a stop to mom leaving. 😢Next scene is the police officer saying “stay in the truck” while two bodies are being rolled out of the house on stretchers. He couldn’t save his momma, so he vowed if he could ever save anyone else from that fate, he would do it at any cost.
From a DV survivor, thank you for the words that are so powerful for many of us. More importantly, thank you for using your platform to bring awareness to this problem. God bless you both.
I am also a Survivor of Domestic violence! My life was nearly taken in 2020 in the presence of my children.. I was told I'd never walk again.. I was in the hospital for 3 months, sent to the Mayo clinic..I'm still in physical therapy and still struggle daily with the now many chronic conditions that I face everyday, but I thank GOD every single day that I'm still alive and here to be a Momma to my babies! This song did way more than hit home! Way to go HARDY, this song will touch many lives! Keep on keeping on my fellow WARRIORS!💯❤
A legend? That's a brainwashed hardy fan right there lol bro doesn't even do a mil streams... shhhhh just cause u enjoy it doesn't mean everyone does. Amd clearly they don't. When he's know as Morgan's opener lol
@@RK-10 bro what makes hardy a legend is that he’s not catering to the trends he’s putting out music that he likes. He’s content being a song writer and his artist platform is just a way to express himself if a song goes #1 that’s great but he’s not stressing over it. Plus’s with 11 number one songs out there I’m sure there’s a few hardy songs u like even if he’s not singing.
Stop lookin. Let it come to you. Trust me. Spend this time you have, TO HEAL!! Learn to love and to be by yourself!! I was 33 before I was finally happy. That was 14 years ago. I DAMN SURE wasn't looking at the time lol. So stop looking and BE OPEN to things you aren't normally open to.❤❤❤
THE LAST THING WE NEED IS ANOTHER COUNTRY YAYHOO GLAMORIZING GUNS AND TAKING THE LAW INTO YOUR OWN HANDS!! JESUS! YOU TRUMPKKKULT THINK YOUR RIGHT TO PLAY COWBOY IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN KIDS GRADUATING HIGH SCHOOL OR MAKING IT THROUGH KINDERGARTEN!! A REAL MAN DOESN’T NEED A GUN TO SHOW STRENGTH!!
Lainey's 'thank you' at the end of the third verse hits so damn hard. It's like she's not only thanking him for rescuing her; she's thanking him for restoring her faith in both herself and in people. Even as she loads up in his truck, you can see her struggling with her own self-doubts. But as she raises her eyes and sees the Cross, she puts it in drive and rolls on. That's the most tragic thing about those in the throes of domestic abuse. Regardless of how it ends, the victims are left with no other choice but to pray, lean on Calvary for strength and move on as best they can. Thank you, Hardy. Be blessed friend.
Faith in people would have been FULLY restored if Mr Hardy had been delivered a not guilty verdict by the jury in that trial he had before prison. He didn't do anything wrong. We need more jury folks willing to make a stand for what's right.
I heard this song for the first time this morning on my drive home from work. I had to pull over because I was crying so hard. No one stood up for me. 10 years of my life gone but I made it out alive. I don't generally advocate violence but from the bottom of my heart, thank you Hardy for this song. 💞
I was driving home just 40 min ago and heard this song for the first time today too. Ditto pulled over waited until the tears stopped and drove home, went into the office looked up the video, cried again wiped away the tears and made this post. MY GOD Hardy, this is the best song I have heard in almost a decade. I would have pulled the trigger too. NO WOMAN EVER NEEDS TO BE TREATED THAT BAD.
I'm still sitting here crying, too many never had someone to stand up for them.... no one stood up for me either and I'm a survivor, walked away 22 years ago, he still stalks me.
I cry every time I hear this. I am a survivor. I spent 15 years waiting for the day he would kill me. My freedom came from my neighbors and an AR. They gave him a choice of a train or a field. He chose the train, but died a few years later of a widow maker heart attack anyway. That train couldn’t escape God! I was finally free and thank God every day for those southern Louisiana Men that saved me!
This song touched my SOUL. Coming from a woman who was nearly taken from this world by the hands of a man who said " he loved me" this brought me to tears and I NEVER cry. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for this song. It's so comforting knowing that there are still men in this world who stand up for those of us who have had our voices ripped away from us. I lost 11 years to torment but gained the ability to see abuse from a mile away. Keep writing these because the world needs to hear it!! 👏👏👏
I couldn't have said this better myself. I lost almost 7 years but I did get away from him and it has made me see people (men and women too) who are abusers and who have been or are being abused. If anyone sees this that is going through this, you can get out. There are people to help that will keep you safe - please research well and find out your options for your area. Prayers and be safe all!!
What u have written here honey is 100% true.. This song hit me in a way nothing else has. Sorry this happened to u and many OF us. I'll never let a man do that to me again. As I'm sure u won't either. 💓
I'm so in agreement with you I cried the same way the very first time I heard this song. And felt such a relief to know that someone actually had enough heart and soul to put into words that we as women need a voice of reason to speak up for us especially when when we're not able to. At least I made it through it 14 stab wounds and I'm still here today. A stronger and better person with an eye for danger.
That's about the only justice that works in DV situations. Courts don't do crap. Restraining orders don't work. And the police are minutes away when seconds count. I worked with a lady who's daughter was murdered by her husband. She was divorcing him due to DV. She had a restraining order, and it did not good. He beat her to death. He beat her so badly she wasn't even recognizable. Then he dumped her over an overpass bridge like she was trash. The messed up part is, he somehow hid his past, and was in prison before for attempted murder on his previous girlfriend. He should have never been let out of prison. Our justice system fails the innocent at every turn. And it's even worse for guys who are victims because police and judges don't believe a man when he is saying that he is being abused and beaten. Not bad mouthing women at all on that. Just saying. My cousin's ex-wife beat him to a bloody pulp all of the time. Luckily he was able to finally get away from her, but the law did nothing to help because they didn't believe him. They kept telling him that he was doing it to himself to try to play the victim. And I remember specifically one time, he called the cops on her, and they arrested him instead of her. In situations like that, if you want to have a life, you have to take a life, because a good person is more important than a monster. This song should serve as a warning to any person that thinks it's okay to use violence on another person like this. Because I can guarantee you, that if I was in the situation described in this song, I'd be saying, "Wait in the Truck".
I’m sorry you went though that. I can sadly relate. I would have given anything for someone to beat tf out of my ex husband but I’d feel guilty for the rest of my life if my savior went to jail for life. 😢
I get worked up every time I hear this song. Can't say why, but this song hits home for me. I didn't have a judge under the seat, but I didn't need one.
Heard this on my radio driving on the interstate. Had to pull over, I was sobbing. As a DV survivor, this song hit me hard. I left because I knew if I didn’t, I was going to die. Then I became a police officer and was able to help other victims who were too terrified and broken to help themselves. Thank you HARDY! Domestic violence has to be stopped, even if, sometimes, it’s from a judge under the seat.
So sorry to hear that. I love Hardy and hope this song can help cathartically for women who have been abused. My mom was assaulted literally a year ago outside a grocery store . Somehow no cameras or anything . I’m 55 and this song expresses the anger I feel . Whoever the douche was who hit my mom, I hope he gets his at some point .
@@henrycastleman3778 Anyone who would put hands on a woman, especially an elderly woman, has a special place in hell reserved for him. I hope she’s doing ok.
This song has me in tears... my day of justice has never come, probably never will. These words mean so much, it reminds me that even though I may never gain my freedom, others might. Thank you for this song.
I hope you get away from your nightmare, you deserve a good life, nobody should ever suffer this way. Maybe start trying to make friends when the abuser isnt around and try to find someone who can help you move far away from them.
@NyraBrowniez thank you. We aren't in immediate danger anymore, but he sold my identity and broke my bones then went on the run with more than 10 warrants for the abuse.... he went on the run on 2016 and hasn't been arrested yet. I don't know if I'll ever stop looking over my shoulder and feeling unsafe. I'm raising 2 young children from the abuse so I have to be strong and brave for them. Hopefully our day of justice will come, I have faith. 🙏
Always remember, real men get mad, not violent... also your always stronger than you think. Don't put up with shit just bc he's a dude, they drop just like everyone else.
@@stewiegriffin88Always remember, women are just as abusive, without violence. Stand strong, no matter what gender. Just because you hit him and he hits you back does not make you a victim.

I heard this for first time on CMA awards. As a DV survivor it was very triggering for me in a good way. I left 23 years ago when I was 34. He died last year. This song made me realize I don’t have to be afraid anymore. I have lived with a slow burn of fear since I left. Thank You Hardy (and Lainey) for helping me breathe again.
I actually feel for DV survivor...it's not an easy way to live...it can actually make you commit suicide when you have put in all your effort to make it work... I'm sorry if i may ask l, what really failed in yours?
"a slow burn of fear since I left," I think every DV survivor can relate; you can physically leave and mentally heal, but that fear is in the back of the mind.
I grew up watching the same stuff you did and scared to death dad would go after my sister and me. It made me realize I don't want this kind of love and thankfully the first and last guy who tried to ht me was 27 years ago and I left him and moved on.
This song hits hard. I’ve been that woman walking down the road, hurt and confused. I’d definitely call her rescuer an angel. (Angels in the Bible were warriors, why not a modern day warrior angel with a truck.) ❤️ Love this song so much. Thank you for bringing attention to domestic violence with your powerful song.
Same 😢 me and my now husband cried we were both abused before we found eachother But when we were in it we didn't see an out until we both stood up for eachother and now we here happily married 15 years later thank you God is all I can say ❤❤

Literally…a perfect written song! My dad was a morning drive jock and program director of a chain of stations. He decided what got airplay. He’d listen to a song for maybe 15 seconds and either took it off or continued to listen! I’d cry over the ‘tossed pile’ and say ‘Daddy you didn’t even give a chance’” And he would say “Baby, Daddy knows what he’s listening for”. Took me years, but I honed my ear, and I get it! And TRUST….THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN STRAIGHT SMOOTH IN ROTATION ON EVERY STATION! It’s a perfectly made song. Entirely!
I absolutely love this song. My oldest daughter would play it over and over. I had to ask her to stop, because she was going to make me not want to hear it anymore. I’m so happy she got the message. Hardy had a terrific partner in Laing. I also love Lainey’s heart like a truck. Both will go far. I also love Hardy’s redneckin

Well, crying listening to this. One of the deepest songs I've heard in a long time. I was never a victim of domestic violence, but I was raped and my husband found me. He has a scar on his hand from trying to get to him. He would have killed him if I hadn't stopped him. There are very few men who would do whatever it takes to protect someone who has been through hell. My husband and I have a stronger relationship from what happened. There is always something good that can come from something heartbreaking.
wait you stopped him from hurting your rapist? sure you weren't having n affair n hollared rape when caught? suspicious to say the least...lesson guys women lie at the drop of a hat!
I'll take this song as a sign from above. . My maiden name is Hardy and the man that saved me from my abusive ex husband is a Clough. It's been almost 7 years and I love this man more than words could ever explain and not once has he ever put his hands on me. He's my angel for sure.

Young man, that is the same exact spot I was in a whole bunch of years ago. I'd lay in bed crying, yes I'll admit it, at 15yo asking God to just take me and end all the suffering caused by the hands of my mom's choice in men. It may not feel like it right now, but guess what? You hold all the power. My greatest achievement in life wasn't finally kicking his ass, how much money I made, the size of my house, or the car that I drove. It was ending a multi-generational cycle of domestic violence. You have that power right now. Sounds like you've found your man stripes. Wear them proudly. Strength, honor, duty, loyalty.

I was a victim of domestic abuse and I always wanted to hear someone say “just wait in the truck”! It’s a horrible situation to be in and you just pray Karma comes for them one day. This song is amazing!!!
Yeah justice does come for some especially when it’s done around me because I don’t even ask a fucking question. Just break shit on his face like he’s done to her. You break a man’s soul and he has no fight left. Sorry for the foul language.
As a survivor of domestic violence, this shook me to my core. Country is not my favorite genre, but you’re one of my few favorites. I got justice against my abuser this year and this is one of my power songs now. Thank you so much, Hardy. Thank you. 💜

Gives me chills. This was my life for 4 years. Leaving was the best decision I made. Thank you, Hardy. 🖤 You sing about all the hard things in life most people don’t want to talk about.

What a song, a good storytelling. I am a black guy who loves country music with series of story tellings. The first time i heard this song on 100.7FM in Oxnard, California i had to pull on the side of the road and cried like a baby. This song need to be played on CMA award please!!!!!
I tear up every time I hear this song. After a career as a cop trying to make things right and be there when the downtrodden and beaten needed someone, this really strikes a chord. Thank you for this song, for helping let out the pain.
You are dead on with that. Been too long with music these days , when I heard it the first time I thought to myself- this is what country music used to be.
Thank you for your beautiful words! I'm thrilled to hear my sound resonates with you so deeply. Your passion and connection mean everything to me - keep listening and feeling!🎵🎵🌸🌺
Country music is supposed to be written and sung exactly like this! Its how Johnny, Willy, Waylon, George and all the other greats have done it! Awesome
We love this song. I am a Black female. I have never been in a DV situation but I now far too many women who have. I was never so proud of my husband as I was that Christmas morning when he beat our neighbor's arse. The guy first beat his wife bloody. When their son (on his 18th Christmas birthday no less) tried to intervene, he started chasing the boy with a tire iron. I shouted for my AF vet husband, but did not expect the beatdown he gave the guy, who was white. Thankfully our neighbors stood in solidarity with my husband. We lived in a very diverse neighborhood. All the races came together and said no to DV. The police took the abuser away. She and her son moved back to her home state.
You have no idea how much this song saved my life. After finally getting out and still healing almost a year later, I still feel this song in my soul. Thank you for helping me realize not every man wants to see a woman drown alone.
As I sit here and watch and listen to this, my chest is getting tighter and tears begin to flow down my cheeks. This one hits HARD. Thank you HARDY for not being afraid to step out of the box once again with this masterpiece.
I just lost my oldest daughter about 10 hours ago. She was a big HARDY fan. I also know she had been in a couple of relationships in the past where she was a victim of domestic violence. She would have loved this. Rest in peace michelle. Mama loves you.
My goodness, this really hits hard. My condolences 🙏🏼. Nothing I say will probably help but be sure to remember the good times and the bad times because that is what makes us love each other. ✌🏼🙏🏼
I love the fact that it's been 60 months. And she's still driving the truck that picked her up and saved her. Knife, change and cigarette lighter still left in the same place. Trucks, next to a dog, the second best friend ever!
Some things are "ours" but not ours. I inherited my Uncle's '69 Roadrunner almost 4 years ago and it still has his things in the console and his cigarette butts in the ash tray. It's not my car, I'm simply looking after it ;)
As a survivor of years of DV, it's a "hidden" subject not talked about enough! Thank you HARDY ( and Lainey) for the song and video! So proud to call HARDY a fellow Mississippian! This song and artist should win EVERY industry award! Thanks again!
@Hardy He went to prison and she got out of prison. In a real life story we might learn he grew up watching his mom endure this as that would explain his resolve to react. He had no angry emotions, just resolve to protect her. It did not have to be someone he knew to protect her. In a movie I would hope he would get released for good behavior and they get married and they both live their love for each other as it was meant to be experienced by God on earth.
@@jack-of-all-trades1234 I think I heard in an interview it’ll be out before the years up.. We just passed the 2 year anniversary of a rock so I hope it’s soon
This guy has some range when it comes to writing good music. Lyrically you're fantastic and the vocals back that shit up. Thank God. This could be a damn good short series.
Yeah, but I think country would have more of a following if every damned singer didn't have the "derp de derp a derp" inflection in their voice. They all sound the same. Every. single. one.
@@daxmiller35 I'm not a big fan of today's country music but there are a few good ones out there. I think we experienced late 80's and early 90's country music and nothing can live up to it.

I'm a survivor of domestic abuse and the first handful of times hearing this song made me cry like a baby it touched me to my core it is an absolutely amazing song I wish I had myself a Hardy from this video when I was going threw what I went threw!

As a songwriter myself, I must say this song moved to my favorite all time best list; to the top 3 after the very first time I heard it. I still have to be private when I listen to it. Because, I start balling like a baby. My Daddy abused my mother violently and was never punished for it. God punished him with a double stroke paralyzing his body and kept him with bed sores in a nursing home for 7 years. You and Lainey have created a classic unforgettable classic. With meaning and propose. The song is awesome and captivating! My hats of to the two of you. Songs with true meaning are so rare these days. God bless you both. For your boldness, sincerity and truth telling. Love you guys!
finally a song that isn’t just about drinking, fishing, hunting, etc. Incredible story telling and an amazing music video. Hardy is on his way to being the best big thing
The realism in the way the story is portrayed is so refreshing and spot on... No boasting ego, no big fake tuff guy attitude... The regret and fear in his eyes when he shoots that sob is real... You absolutely NAILED this song, video, harmony, melody, concept, storyline.... Bravo sir
I was in the army for 20yrs and went to battle over in the middle east a few time and saw things ppl should never have to see in their live. I thought i would never cry again after things i saw and things i had to do for my country. But this song brought me to my knees crying harder than I've ever cried before out of anger. I would do this for someone, even a stranger without remorse at all and trade my life to give them life.
As someone who’s been abused twice I heard this song on Christmas Night and I have listened to it so many times I literally shake…. i had to pull over after the first part about whiskey scars because I was literally sobbing so hard…I wish I had found someone to save me but I had to fight tooth and nail to get the strength to leave and I don’t think that anyone who hasn’t been through the abuse can understand how powerful this pain is and this song just honestly captures the trauma and emotions of the pain…
So happy you got away! People fail to realize that when people are oppressed, their will is no longer free. We see this on a large scale with people who are enslaved as in Communist countries-the power lies with the bullies and violence is a pretty good deterrent. In families, it is just as complex, with the dependency that we have on each other, children can be involved, and you have to have help and a plan or you will never find the chance to find the will and the strength. May bless you with a wonderful New Year!❤
Such a haunting song.
Both Hardy and Lainey create such vivid images with their voices

Hardy, I want you to know that as a 60 year old woman, what you expressed in this song resonates with a lot of women and men. From the perspective of a woman, you hit the nail on the head with the 2 lyrical lines, "I just asked her where he was" and "wait in the truck". Those 2 phrases are so powerful when a woman has been beaten and hunted down by someone. From a man's perspective, there are men out there that have NO patients for someone who beats a woman and want to do what you portrayed in this song. It is lyrical GOLD and touches both men and women deeply.
And I am one of those men who has no patience for a man who touches a woman or a child. I'm 63, old school
I grew up with four older sisters and it was in stilled in me by my father to never raise a hand to a woman. I have a daughter that knows her older brothers and I will always say wait in the truck.
Exactly why they keep writing these songs over and over again.
I agree totally
17yrs old, that is how my parents are raising me. I fell in love with this song as soon as I heard it.
I am a father with 4 daughters and an ARMY vet, so trust me, this song resonates. If someone puts a hand on one of them I would gladly sit in the cell. Thank you for some real emotion.
Thank you for your service
Thank you for your service, God Bless you.
Act of mercy in the moment. So beautiful!
Good on you for taking those steps. Hopefully it keeps the cycle broken for your children.
Good bless you Angel!
I hope and pray you're doing better now miss, God bless you
I'm a domestic violence survivor and this affected me.
God bless you and Amen
So very sorry for the horror you went through. I also have been abused.
I’m so sorry. You are so worthy, I wish you knew. That man is sick. I can’t believe this happened to you 😢
i did it.... god bless you and how you have came out of what we are lucky to come out of....I am i domestic violence and mental abusurer survivor..
Now, if more men stood up for women like this in nowadays this world will be a whole lot better place. Can I get aman

My moms brothers saved her. Shhhhhhh 😁
Hello 👋 how are you doing?
This legitimately might be the best country song written in the last 10+ years. Need more of this instead of trucks, beer, girls, etc. Way to go HARDY
It should get a Grammy.
Very well written and delivered
It’s good but Morgan Wallen is better
Totally agree!
@Mike Bastiat It's not about trucks just because it has truck in the song
I am a survivor of a horribly physically abusive relationship. When I got wheeled into the ER after days of being beaten with 2 broken bones, basically no hair and a busted up face, the doctor said I looked like a war veteran. It was a war. This song to me is amazing. All of us in DV at one point or another prayed or wished for a savior. This song got me. So strong. So powerful. So. It's real life, folks. So amazing.
I'm with you girl! :) Glad you are a survivor!

I’m so sorry you went through that.
Justice served! Should get a medal for doing the Lord's work!
"I never though my day of justice would come from a Judge under the seat" is peak songwriting, if you understand the reference. Genius lyric.
My favorite line as well: Lainey sings the heck out of it. Been trying to figure out that reference though!
@@thebenjichord1599 The Judge is a line of revolvers made by Taurus Firearms. In the video, he carries a revolver, presumably that one.

That’s Godly 💙
It's payment enough to get that guy out the gene pool
As a survivor it gives me the chills when I hear, I always prayed for an angel that never came
I'm so sorry. May God of heaven and earth heal you.
Where’s he at ?
Sometimes you have to be your own angel 😇

It took years to get out but I did and never looked back, the system can fail us, the hotlines can fail us. My angel came in the form of an Apartment manager, the night before it escalated, I fled to a friends with my 4 year old son. I walked in and asked for an apt. She took one look at me and asked my story. I told her, and she gave me the keys right then and there, everything else just feel into place. Thank you for this song.

Why so many hearts

So... U want ur Boo dead??? how dare u...

Lord, I'm waiting on my angel!!!!!

Faith in people would have been FULLY restored if Mr Hardy had been delivered a not guilty verdict by the jury in that trial he had before prison. He didn't do anything wrong. We need more jury folks willing to make a stand for what's right.

God bless 🙏
This song touched my SOUL. Coming from a woman who was nearly taken from this world by the hands of a man who said " he loved me" this brought me to tears and I NEVER cry. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for this song. It's so comforting knowing that there are still men in this world who stand up for those of us who have had our voices ripped away from us. I lost 11 years to torment but gained the ability to see abuse from a mile away. Keep writing these because the world needs to hear it!! 👏👏👏
Hello Lynn 👋 hope you had a great weekend??
I’m so sorry you had to go through that a man should never lay a hand on a woman praying for you
I couldn't have said this better myself.
As a DV survivor the "Justice from a Judge under the seat" line gives me goosebumps every time. Absolutely love this song. 💜💜
😭
I get worked up every time I hear this song. Can't say why, but this song hits home for me. I didn't have a judge under the seat, but I didn't need one.
Same! It almost came to that for me
Heard this on my radio driving on the interstate.
All the people, cops included, around here share your sentiment. Settle it before the cops have to. Let them be cleanup, not mediators.
Thank you
Amen and glad to know I'm not the only DV survivor who was sobbing during this song!
Don't give in life & just stay strong
@NyraBrowniez thank you. We aren't in immediate danger anymore, but he sold my identity and broke my bones then went on the run with more than 10 warrants for the abuse.... he went on the run on 2016 and hasn't been arrested yet. I don't know if I'll ever stop looking over my shoulder and feeling unsafe. I'm raising 2 young children from the abuse so I have to be strong and brave for them. Hopefully our day of justice will come, I have faith. 🙏
You don't deserve that dear!!! 😪
Stay strong, and you have my prayers 🙏!!!!
I hope you find your escape.
This means so much as a survivor of domestic violence. Thank you Hardy ♥️

Really man this song and video is trash. This video and song is terrible. It makes no sense whatsoever 🤣🤣🤣😁🤣😂 how u going to kill a guy u never met over a strange woman you never met and then at the end of the video that Conn woman get to drive off in his truck. Also why was that guy trying to run to the back of his trailer when his shotgun was right beside his TV. 😅😁🤣😂🤣😂
wahhh!
God, if only someone had said those 4 words to me when I was little… wait in the truck. Just wait in the truck
I f****** love this song
❤
I heard this for first time on CMA awards. As a DV survivor it was very triggering for me in a good way. I left 23 years ago when I was 34. He died last year. This song made me realize I don’t have to be afraid anymore. I have lived with a slow burn of fear since I left. Thank You Hardy (and Lainey) for helping me breathe again.
I must confess this dude sings very good songs that touches the soul of man
I actually feel for DV survivor...it's not an easy way to live...it can actually make you commit suicide when you have put in all your effort to make it work... I'm sorry if i may ask l, what really failed in yours?
God bless you sister.
You're safe now, baby. You're safe.
"a slow burn of fear since I left," I think every DV survivor can relate; you can physically leave and mentally heal, but that fear is in the back of the mind.
As a daughter that watched her mom be abused by her dad and who was hit herself, this gave me chills. The world needs more men like this. Bravo.
I grew up watching the same stuff you did and scared to death dad would go after my sister and me. It made me realize I don't want this kind of love and thankfully the first and last guy who tried to ht me was 27 years ago and I left him and moved on.
No it doesnt need more men throwing their life away for a woman they just met.
Men who kill people?
No it fucking doesn’t hahaha
amen
This song hits hard. I’ve been that woman walking down the road, hurt and confused. I’d definitely call her rescuer an angel. (Angels in the Bible were warriors, why not a modern day warrior angel with a truck.) ❤️ Love this song so much. Thank you for bringing attention to domestic violence with your powerful song.
@hardy7310 this song brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it.....thank you for this it's good to know there are still good men out there❤
Same 😢 me and my now husband cried we were both abused before we found eachother
But when we were in it we didn't see an out until we both stood up for eachother and now we here happily married 15 years later thank you God is all I can say ❤❤
And Thank you to the two who sang this story oh so well ❤ one for the history books
As soon as I hear her sing I lose it… beautiful song
You're right, the protag of the song is an angel to me, an avenging angel (and such a subset is in the Bible).
This song is so desperately needed. In recent years hatred towards women, especially women leaving abusive guys has skyrocketed. Hardy, I am grateful for you having the courage and being a REAL MAN to release these lyrics! I hope that you know how many women this helps! Country music needs to encourage REAL MEN like this!
Not sure what you mean in recent years....I'm a mam and I now have full custody of my 2 daughters...I was hit in the face at least 10 12x in 2 years never responded....never...I wasn't raised like that and I never should've told her bc she took advantage of it...not all men are bad..it's an unfair lable...she abandoned them 3 years ago and it seemed all the women judge could do to give me custody...men are the ones who are hated and tried to make obsolete by this sick modern culture...I love my daughters I live women and anybody who acts like a human being..and i am a real man
Yeah the me too movement has made men disbelieve women
My ex HUSBAND had come home drunk... AGAIN..
I tried to keep him quiet...making him fresh breakfast, (at two a.m.) ..he pounded the SHYTE outta ME, regardless..

Who died,?
Well, crying listening to this. One of the deepest songs I've heard in a long time. I was never a victim of domestic violence, but I was raped and my husband found me. He has a scar on his hand from trying to get to him. He would have killed him if I hadn't stopped him. There are very few men who would do whatever it takes to protect someone who has been through hell. My husband and I have a stronger relationship from what happened. There is always something good that can come from something heartbreaking.
May God bless your husband 💖
wait you stopped him from hurting your rapist? sure you weren't having n affair n hollared rape when caught? suspicious to say the least...lesson guys women lie at the drop of a hat!
Bless you both 🫶🏻🙏🏻
Your husband did what most men would do so to say very few men would do whatever it takes is ignorant and stupid.
Bless you both!

These stories need to be told.
This guy has some range when it comes to writing good music. Lyrically you're fantastic and the vocals back that shit up. Thank God. This could be a damn good short series.
40% of cops beat their wives like in this video. This is why we have 2A and say ACAB.
Such a powerful song and video to depict the strength of a random, righteous man bringing true justice to a corrupt world... 10/10
He's not righteous he's an idiot he's gonna spend the rest of his life in prison for a random stranger who should have left the guy beating her and gone to the Police but hey Ni##@ might change her might change.
We need more gentlemen justice these days.
I'm a survivor of domestic abuse and the first handful of times hearing this song made me cry like a baby it touched me to my core it is an absolutely amazing song I wish I had myself a Hardy from this video when I was going threw what I went threw!
Thank you for your beautiful words! I'm thrilled to hear my sound resonates with you so deeply. Your passion and connection mean everything to me - keep listening and feeling!🎵🎵🌸🌺
And if you want more in the same vein there is always Kenny Rogers.
Martina McBride also has some.. ah.. "stories" in her songs. I don't know new country, but I know the kind that Hardy sings, grew up with it.
The realism in the way the story is portrayed is so refreshing and spot on... No boasting ego, no big fake tuff guy attitude... The regret and fear in his eyes when he shoots that sob is real... You absolutely NAILED this song, video, harmony, melody, concept, storyline.... Bravo sir
It's an ego boost to women
Just wait in the train is just as good.
@@carlospomares3225 Nah, just gives them another unreasonable expectation of men... Like that's what we need 😂
Or it let's women know some men actually still care and aren't abusive🙄🙄🙄
@@tajacollins8569 yes, because most men don't care and are abusive 🙄
If I had a father or a boyfriend like you, I knew I woulda been safe. This song brought me to tears. Now instead I became my own protector.
May bless you with a wonderful New Year!❤
I can't believe I've never heard this song!! Love it!!
@@Greeneye623I really relate to this song
Your sooo strong. Good job baby girl
@@Greeneye623 I feel this. So hard.
One of the most powerful song I’ve heard in a while. Will be a no. 1 hit for sure
Yea, no shit. When it comes to country music that hits ya right in the feels, leave it to Hardy to do so. This song is one of a kind.
