Please be aware that normal shipping costs will apply when using your code."
Super excited for V3, more so than TOW, will hopefully be back to posting and gaming in Perth soon. All I want is some tightening of the rules, less auto include units, more consideration for AT guns, MMG, HMG’s and squad based LMG. Would be nice to see the National characteristics get a rework to be more accurate and balanced….
All I care about is that they don't Efff up the system I like and enjoy Bolt Action and have many armies for it, I also had many armies for 40K and have sold them off because those rules were stuffed up too often
Possibly a bit out of left field but I'd like to see anti tank guns get a nudge. I'm old to platoon level WW2 but new to BA, I've noticed the ubiquitous German pak 38/40, allied 37mm/57mm/6 pdr, etc, are completely absent from the meta. - their bracket in the selectors dominated by howitzers. I dig the models as centrepiece units for an army..
I think this is quite likely, and something I'd be fond of too! They made a point in the article that you'd find yourself fielding units you would normally overlook. AT guns seem to be high on that list, alongside machine guns!
@@gorcinkurejsepi3804 heh.. very true re the MGs. I play a lot of Rules of Engagement (Great Escape Games), where fixed MMGs are 'kings of the battlefield.' Needless to say, it was a bit of a shock when I discovered in BA they were, one could say ... 'peasants of the battlefield?'...
I always thought the following, and partially applying to tanks too... 1. AT guns should count as small target if they are set-up and don't move (they can turn on the spot) from where they started the game. Possibly this would be an extra points cost (+5pts?) Large guns like the 88mm FlaK could get this too but would have to pay maybe a few more points and wouldn't get it if they have a gun sheild 2. Single-shot weapons like AT guns and tank guns get to 'range in' if they hit a target in the previous turn and in the following turn the target and shooter haven't moved. Ranged-in single shot weapons receive a +1 to hit. This applies to AT rounds only due to their flatter trajectory and faster shot flight
I would like them to print cards for each faction army (like those vehicles get in the box) with references on them to the specific rules and the period they operated in. But infantry as well so it’s easier to learn and less rulebook flicking.
That is something they previously tried with vehicles, to include a data card, but it didn't see widespread inclusion across any of the infantry boxes. I guess the trick with the infantry is there was less guarantee which infantry choice the generic box would represent. I'm sure there could be a way.
I think my list would have to be.. 1. A cleaerly written rule book with index 2. Pins on a target unit when charging them in combat should make a difference 3. Officers should be able to do more (have several ordsr type2s possible not just 'Snap To') 4. Get rid of free units. Should be a themed/ flavoured list to choose from and players then choose units, but if going at an infantry army (like soviets) then they get a points reduction for those units 5. Lots of tweaks to weapons obviously like MGs used by infantry (dump loader rules, can split fire if have an MG and LMG cause D2 pins, MMG cause D3 pins), i think snipers would hit on a 2+ but going Down should make a difference, air observer rukes change, etc stc this is potentially rhe longest list of tweaks 6. Over view/ redone on army ruies 7. Scenarios review/ rewrite 8. I think Crossfire and flanking rules are needed, as well as minus/ penalties for units being. Make it a bit more historical that way. 9. Even out having big vs small units for pins. So a unit that receives as many hits from shooting as there are models in the unit cause an extra pin in additon to the one caused for hitting it in the first place. This would even up big squads against several smaller ones i think and make them viable again. 10. Some form of falling back or running away a bit. I like the cut and dry approach of BA but there's times when a unit falling back feels right/ better than just being removed
Excellent assessment of WLGs release. I too read that the platoon selector will be more of a menu as opposed to a one mortar/one MMG/one artillery piece…. Something more like the juggernaut format or Chain of Command idea. Thus if you want to spend your points on three medium mortars, fill your boots. That would break up the cookie cutter armies and make for a more dramatic game.
Yeah, I think so too. That just makes sense to me. I love what they're doing now though - if you buy any of their current starter sets between now and September, you'll get a code for a free copy of the V3 rulebook!
They should update K47 to be fully integrable with 3e Bolt Action, things like the same guns having different ranges is silly for 2 games with the same models from the same company, I knew about BA for years before I even heard of K47 and it's awesome, but nobody seems to play it. I like the whole dieselpunk vibe it's got going for it in particular.
What I really wanted to say on the show, but lacked the cojones - the Reaction sequence in K47 should be in BA. I can see it falling on either side of Alessio's visions. It will slow down play, but adding another decision point, however, it 'feels' very 'right.' Time will tell!
I hope the new list building system will have diffrent special rules, rather than the normal army special rules. I play an elite Soviet shock army in Berlin. Having a free 12 man inexperienced rifle squad and a commissar in my list is just stupid. It doesnt fit the theme, nor is it historical.
Having points values costing the ability to cause pins would be nice. I see a popularity for scenario generators for casual games. Updating the Soviet army book from V1 would also be nice. More useful smoke would be nice. I agree with Gorcin about templates ... yeah beaten zones. Overwatch!
i wish Warlord can do something like Warhammer for example "US Airborne Codex" then you have their named divisions and heroes like 101st Airborn or 82nd Airborne and have special rules for the units and able to take allied or support units like an Armoured platoon etc etc. Having special rules for Allies, Nation, Outfits and their Divisions will give so much depth in list building and how things are played. You get a lot more personal touch to the game itself. Imagine having a unique special rule as the Allies where you get some bonuses, and as for US where you dont get penalty for firing and movement PLUS for being airborne unit you get to deep strike plus for being in the 101st airborne you get not only stubborn but get to reroll morale checks, and then for having heroic characters like Major Winters you get upgraded to better order tests. I mean that will make the game so much better to me.
The product line probably won't get altered to much outside the existing release schedule as it is all still valid. There is also plenty of choice on the market
IMO, it's really a miss opportunity to put the D10 in the game. I know many still want the D6 to remain but a D10 mechanic give so much more flexibility. Every player of Gate of Antares that played Bolt Action are telling me that they would really like the same mechanics in BA. At least, I hope they will give maybe a second activation (without movement) for vehicle like tank and change the open top rule to something more logical. Like troop inside a armoured vehicle should not get pinned unless they get ''out'' of that vehicle in the same turn that they get fired on. Or maybe the pin should only affect the operator of the MMG on top of it and not the driver. He is in a ''armoured vehicle'', he know that low caliber bullet won't pass the armour of is vehicle. That rule is really pissing me up :P
Dan is in the d6 camp on this one. Whilst I like flexibility of d10s and have used them in homebrew systems as well, the d6 plays into streamlining and simplification which is a core value of bolt action's design. Changing d6 to d10 has some other subtle impacts as well to tables, randomized movements, exceptional damage etc. Not saying any of those would be worse off for the change, but it does increase the overall number of changes
I totally disagree on the scenario generators. With the rise of solo play in the last few years cross the various wargaming/ttrpg/boardgaming hobby since COVID randomizer tables a high in the minds of many designers based on the designs that are releasing. .: I expect these are an include to meet all needs for random scenarios.
They should get a choice of which rules like the Brits get. And veteran tanks should get a fire then move ability (but can still move then fire as normal if they want) as there's historical accounts of the Panzer Lehr foormg their tanks then easing the clutch and repositioning several yards away in Normandy, bot like the yanks get the gyrostabiliser rule. Also more 35pts Regular LMG teams, probably one per main infantry squad, and drop the LMG optionfor the infantry as that's why you have the LMG teams. The replace NCO rule should go all the way up the command tree and so an NCO should be able to take over from a Lieutenant Cheaper tanks I'd say, especially when you see a StuG the same price more or less as a Panzer IV, never kind them being a bit pricey as it is. I play Company of Heroes on PC and so some of the doctrines in that are a good way to go for the Gerries (and any of the armies to be honest) Also as sure as day followed night a Gemrna counterattack would happen, and so no negative modifier or even a +1 for their reserves to come on would be apt I think. The Gerries led the way in throwing ad-hoc Kampfgruppe together for this very practice. Probably some supply or logistical improvements for later war maybe, or ways to make troops cheaper. More generally I thinka Battle Shock (-1 to Morale) for a pokt less per man would be the sort of thing I'd be thinking of. Maybe a low ammo squads that have to roll every time they fore to see if they get low on ammo and this take a further pin or something like that too. Those are reaching in to more scenario play, obvs.. .. There's tons of tweaks and changes like that but that would be my sort of list. Looking forward to V.3 either way!
i want konflict '57 bolt action cold war goes hot.... tired of using k47.. dumb zombies and werewolves... give us the wonder weapons of ww2 in 1950s... wire guided missiles, night vision, and retro history.. laser guns, needlers (flettchette rifles), and gyrojet guns

I hope the 3rd edition starter set is Eastern Front containing a new early war German infantry kit and a new Soviet infantry kit.
really sad they left templates in...
just write the rule that says HE hits max out at the number of models in a unit, its really that easy
Nope, templates have a reason
@@redneckgopnik8164 yeah and its a terrible reason cause it slows the game down and is annoying, it adds nothing fun at all
agreed. i hate the time wastage and the targeting shennigans (artillery are not snipers!) that comes with template use.

Star Wars legion tried this and sadly it just gets forgetting about as FAQ and errata can lead to the card being obsolete, that and it causes clutter.
