    Mashallah great talk!
The word "saddain" is actually "suddain" in 7 out of 10 qira'at. Check for example moroccan recitations (Warsh qira'a). I heard the word "sudd" can actually mean fog, which would make much more sense.
Regarding Harut & Marut and the portal in Babylon, it's actually interesting that the word Babylon, in Arabic Babil means door to God (Bab=door, Ilah=God)
These are just to remarks from.a non scholar. Maybe you could dwell into that. Barakallahu fekom

They keep skipping over the point that prophet salah a.s was told to run to a tree the trees split he ran in between the tree and disappeared and the tree went back as if it had never split. Prophet Saleh jumped into a portal.

What is this nonsense? Talking about Quran and hadith based on assumptions and geusses, for the sole reason to sound interesting and intriguing. Islam is not some hollywood entertainment business where everyone just derives his own fantasy story. Its based on evidence Quran and sunnah and prominent scholars. Some things are hidden by Allah swt and a lot of details/names/locations have not been disclosed by Allah swt, because they serve no purpose and value in your deen and dunya. Allah swt himself warned us of people who busy themselves with details/unseen world, guessing and storytelling, and undermine the core message that Allah swt tries to deliver with stories and incidents.
