It’s a shame Ryan that you feel the need to explain yourself to the ignorant few who don’t understand you or how RUclips works
Keep up the good work on your success in Thailand.

Bloody hell, the person who commented on your lifestyle, must have a charmed life when you don't have to leave home to earn some money. Some people travel away every week to earn money for their family. For years too. Sometimes people have to. But in your case, you're home with your family most of the time. It's not like you're taking trips all the time. We understand real life. You do what you have to do and want to do.

I appreciate your being secure enough to address whatever you want to address. Just banning and blocking seems week to me and I think seeing ourselves through the eyes of others can be beneficial. As for relationships, there is no magic formula, and besides, things change over time as well. We have been together for 26 years and our love continues to grow and evolve, even to this day.
Chiang Rai is my neck of the woods, so what are you going to be up to in our little corner of Thailand?

    Dude,
You have almost 70,000 subscribers over 2 channels.
You have 9,978,124 views across Life in Bamboo.
There are going to be detractors.
There are sad, lonely and jealous people who seem to thrive on dishing out callous negativity via their keyboards. You don't have to explain yourself to anyone, let alone those types with a propensity for negativity. I feel empathy for them and their outlook. I feel grateful for you and your channel.
I'm working on a way to get back to my wife and family in Thailand and let me tell you, when I am in my darkest moments, almost defeated and I can't see a way to get back, I put your videos on and it instantly revives me.
Focus on your supporters, not your detractors. Make the best videos you can for them and realise how many people you have inspired through this channel. Remember how many of those 9,978,124 views have taken positivity away from what you've made 🙏🏻

Me and my wife decided very early how we would like to treat home vs. workplace and who will tackle the 'burdon' to bring in (most of) the money to sustain our life. The result of that was that I was away 5 days a week for most of the weeks for more than 15 years. Raising kids during that time but not maintaining a farm. :)
Alternative would have been to move home several times and pluck the kids (and my wife actually) out of their comfort zone (school, friends, hood).
This is how our city life in Germany in a convential job worked. Therefore leaving your family (not alone) for a relatively short period of time once in a while to earn your income... seems fine to me. :)

I think it says a lot about western work and consumer culture where you have to work and be away from the family and you cannot grasp spending time away from them (maybe a beachside worktrip is so enviable). Regardless, the end goal is to give your family a future and better life. Not to mention Otis and Hugo are having the best childhood with dad at home not at work all week. Ryan, some of the negative reaction you get from your Vlogs must be down to the sensationalist headlines you use! So dramatic and misleading. You wrote “I left my wife” on one of your vlogs which just wasn’t true, as, in the society you left behind, it means you and her are no more an item. I know you do this to attract viewers but you should expect more negativity if you continue to do so. Why not say “trip to Phuket and beyond “ or something similar? Less dramatic yet still a puller. A negative title pulls in the wrong types who don’t understand the oriental way, nor will they, whereas the other will bring the right audience for your content. Just my opinion, as I found those titles shocking at first sight, and also maybe a little misleading . Did you used to read the Sun or the Mirror? 😂😂

    • @thenakedguru
      @thenakedguru  Год назад +2

      Hi Indus,
I hear what you are saying but please check out my video library, you will notice that many of the titles, perhaps 40% are not negative and are as your suggest, they dont however get recommended by youtube as they do not get clicked, as you can see from the number of views on normal titles, you have probably seen the most sensationalist as youtube recommended them, this is how they make most profit. As i mention in this video, very happy with the critique, it is to be expected. Here i simply address the issue in case of anyone genuinely concerned about the topic. My rules are as follows, no sexual innuendo, no naked girls and any Thai person that appears on the thumb or in the vlog gets compensated. RUclips is a highly competitive market already without such rules but we feel this is the best way. Cheers

I have one foot out of the Rat Race, escaping the Matrix as you put it 😂 I have took redundancy, and am one step closer to travelling around Thailand full time.
That's why I like your content with everyday life, Thai culture and various aspects of Thai life such as prices of land, food, travelling etc.
I must have watched about 20 videos and then you said something I did really laugh at - being from Horwich because I'm a Bolton lad too 😂 We have a certain simple charm and can fit in and get on anywhere with anyone - we are just simple Mill-folk lol

The sad truth is Ryan, is that there are some people who will only be there as long as you have something they need. We rarely lose friends, we just gradually figure out who our real ones are. I used to feel like my side of the story needed to be told to keep the facts right. Now, I don't care what people choose to believe. Just live life as the person you are. It's your life and family, not theirs 🙏

Hi. I would like to ask you a question about visas. I'm 34 years old, married to a thai woman and have 2 daughters that hold dual nationality. We're looking to emigrate shortly to Thailand.
I'm so short on time on arranging my visa before I have to leave for my new job in Asia.
My question is how difficult is it sort out a non immigrant O visa based on marriage once in Thailand?
I'm thinking of just entering Thailand on a visa exemption as I'm British. Then go with my my to either Vientiane or Savannaket to apply for a non immigrant o visa for myself.
I want to apply here in London but I think it's going to be tricky.
    Any advice much appreciated.

To keep a relationship fresh, it's great to be on your own sometimes, I used to travel a lot for my business in Europe and the USA to Asia, I always loved to go and always looked forward to going back home to my Wife and two Kids as well.
Whatever somebody makes of it; it's in their head only........

For me it’s obvious you took the decision to leave Otis, little Hugo and your wife far from Phuket and the south. In a couple of years will be more adequate for them to enjoy the islands (in my opinion). Apart this you had planned vlogs and also interviews, so what’s the sense living them in a Resort to wait you coming back after a long day… You did the right thing for me. Quite obvious I repeat..😉🙏

I did not know that you went on trips for You Tube business purposes. I thought you needed a break from living in rural Thailand which is completely understandable. After a winter in Thailand i like to have my own culture for a few months. I perceived that Damo also appreciated the break. I’ve been married for 33 years, and both of us need time away from each other. I like to watch videos from your trips…. You are my go to when I’m doing a jig saw…..and my husband is in another room watching other programs.

I’ve been watching since you were in lockdown and have never once questioned anything you all do together as a family, the love and bond you all have together as a family is to be envied and obviously the most important thing in each other’s lives.
You don’t have to explain to any of these narrow minded people your reasons for what you do as they are forming opinions on glimpses.
We met you in Pai May 22, heard you playing your saxophone by the river, we will be in Chiang Khan in June 23, funny if we hear you playing your saxophone by the Mekong 😄

Don't people have the right to live their lives as they want anymore? 99.9% of all farangs could never live in rural Thailand for the long term as you do. As a farang in rural Thailand it can also be a need to leave for more "civilized" areas now and then. Meet other westerners, just get a break from it all. Surely the locals don't have the same need or situation. Anyone who's followed your chanel seriously knows what a good husband and father you are. I dare to say had I had a father like you my life would have been a lot different. Mind you, I'm older than you... Keep up the good work and thanks for so many lovely episodes bringing the real Thailand to us.

I imagined a scene from old days, where the Man goes out hunting, conquering, or spiritually working for months and years, and not a single person in the Clan would've said: "There ya go, he left her."
You gotta do what you gotta do, she got to do what she got to do, you together are raising a brilliant Clan, all is good!
Besides, show me one Really Functional Familia, where there isn't a need for personal space, even, not to mention the business side of things, and all of that.
But that is an experience, one should spend in union with another for at least 5 years, in order to really comprehend the Human Bondship.
    I salute you Chief.

this is misunderstanding many farang never even visited or lived in rural Thailand tourists just go pattaya samui or phukhet and live in a complete goldfish bowl of commercial holiday. Many of the girls in the bars come from these villages. 100% agree thai grandparents take care the children so good and thats why single mothers go work in the commercial bars to make money in nan soi cowboy and pattaya. The family connections are so strong thats why foreigners never understand and then they bitch about having to taking care the family group as there is no pension or unemployment benefits in Thailand. !00% everything is family driven and this is the problem when you enter into a relationship in Europe/US and in Thailand which are very different. Great channel keep up good work and kind regards from isaan

Obviously some do not understand the culture and family of Thailand
The family and extended family is the base for support and help, something you understand with the lack of social support from the state like you get in the west,
Maybe that’s why we put our relatives in the west into old people homes ?

It sounds like your critics are not westerners. What you are doing is what every American man and womens does inorder to take care of their family. Don't be concerned with it, maybe they"ll learn how other cultures, both men and women go on business trips as part of their normal work life .

I'm sure I don't have to tell you this but listen to your wife as only she can tell you if she is happy not me nor anyone else. What would happen if your wife had to travel somewhere for her fashion business would she also be wrong for travelling and leaving the boys with you ? Obviously not. You and damo are responsible for your family finances nobody else if you have to travel then you have to travel. That's my opinion but only you and damo can make these decisions for your family as its nobody else's business.

Mate, in west oz a large number of people do fly I fly out on the mine sites. I done it for 4 years. Why? Because it was an opportunity to earn a good income for my family. Missed birthdays and a couple of Christmas ‘s. it was hard to leave the kids as they were young but it got us ahead. We are divorced now but that was 9 years after I finished fifo.
