The only criticism i had of Ole was his organisation of the defence. We had a great attack (like under Fergie) but feegie also organised the defence. If he'd done the same we could have been a force. Sadly he was sacked before his time. I'd honestly bring him back to see what he can do because every other coach/manager fails so why not take another chance with someone who knows what they're doing?
The only thing he did wrong was let the egos get too big and it became too much for him. Part of that comes down to the fact the recruitment policy changed after his first year. They went back to the big names after his first summer when one reason they have him the permanent job was to sign the British core and players who weren’t at their peak just yet like sir Alex would do. He was trying to build a good team ethic but he was let down. Granted, no one is gonna say no to Ronaldo and Varane but if he kept building a team to develop rather than the big names with big pedigree that he was given then maybe he’d still be here and the team would be developing nicely. Plenty were brought in when the priority should have been something/someone else (I.e CB RW and CDM were needed for 2020 and we got a Cavani Telles and Donny and spent all summer thinking Dortmund would call us back about Sancho - loved Cavani don’t get me wrong but he wasn’t what we needed, especially since Ole didn’t get ANY of his main targets)

They dont show all of the 0-0 draws we had that season. The struggles to break teams down who defended deep. The games where Ole would keep the same 11 players on the pitch for 90 minutes without making any subs. Then there's Fred and Mctominay in midfield. This season was mostly painful to watch

And CR7s arrival had also undermined Bruno, who was our penalty and free kick taker and an absolute Portuguese magnifico. But CR7 being the biggest Portuguese player ever and one of the greatest of all time just ruined Bruno's place and connection with the fans.

He ended up with a front line of Rashford, Cavani, Greenwood and Bruno absolutely tearing the crap out of defences. Solskjaer was getting impressive results with McFred, Maguire and Lindelof and Pogba! We were always conceding but always scoring more.
Every manager must learn on the job, and overcome his difficulties. That won't necessarily be easy. It could take 3+ years of getting comfortable with a league to start having the right ideas of how to master it, and the right mix of players to achieve it. You people seem to think it's easy. Solskjaer was NEVER meant to do as well as he did. It was and still is a quite remarkable debut (at a big club) in the toughest league in world football. Manchester United is a very big ship that is notoriously difficult to steer.

You people seem to think it's easy. Solskjaer was NEVER meant to do as well as he did. It was and still is a quite remarkable debut (at a big club) in the toughest league in world football. Manchester United is a very big ship that is notoriously difficult to steer.
