ultramet have one just over a week now and no ads pop up. During set up there are a few Mi apps i choose not to update and i never used the Mi browser.
Funny how all these "unbiased" review channels talk about this phone as if it's perfect specs for it's price, but has the ads as a major drawback. However none of them mentions you actually can get rid of them, and be left with a perfect phone for only 200 eurobucks. Thanks for making this video! ps: SaveAfox is such a nice channel :)
You complain having ads with this price range? I would prefer ads just to lessen the price that you can disable later. Well, it really seems that commonsense is not so common these days.
Well how about Poco reveal the phone has ads when they sell it to keep the price lower? And if you pay a bit more you get the phone without ads? That's what Amazon does . Also Amazon only had ads on the lockscreen. This is everywhere possible. It's called perspective.

Hi Gavin. My X3 arrived today. Removed the ads using you easy to follow steps. Liking the phone more thanks to you! Cheers! ps. I added the tik tok ad as you did, but there was no verify step. Not sure why..
Also additional things you could do is turn of the notifications from mi apps from settings and also select your region as Germany or Spain the ads wont come. Another option you can do is use a tool called "ADB Debloat for MIUI" but be careful what apps you de bloat, do not debloat the security and the cleaner app as doing that will force the phone into bootloops. You can select other apps (but i suggest see the list of apps safe to remove once). This also frees like 1.5GB of storage in your phone. But this has one downside is that everytime updates come the system apps will be installed again. But i feel thats a thing worth taking a sweat for. Takes only 4-5 minutes.
These are good suggestions. I didn't include them, as I wanted to keep it simple the guide simple enough, so everyone can do them. BTW I am in the UK, and the Poco X3 still got ads. I also thought, some of the Mi apps might be useful for others, so its a balancing act of including stuff that everyone can do without causing harm etc.. Appreciate the feedback !!!!

Nothing to do with Brexit. Just a bit sneaky especially with ads when installing an app from the Play Store. It's probably how the price is kept low. I do wonder if Poco will get fined for this at some point, as they haven't declared on any marketing material that the phone comes with ads.

Not gonna lie, I'm using the Redmi Note 9 Pro and I followed your instructions and seems to works fine. I hope that this will not do some system crashes or somewhat. But at least it works on my phone. 👍
The only thing, I haven't done was turn off msa,I think that is going to make a good difference now. Was having fantom add called: Free Games. Could not access the app at all when you long press on the notification. And if you press the add it would take you to a free games website. I think this was implemented by Xiaomi, and made to the user not be able to turn it off. turning msa off might have done the trick.👍

Hi Gavin, rather late to the party but I've just stumbled across your fantastic video. Firstly thank you so much for this, as I would never in a million years been able to remove all the ad options on my Poco X3 PRO, without it. Just 2 quick queries though, my Poco is now on MIUI version 12.5.2 and as your video is over a year old now (but still relevant) I'm wondering if the following ad options have changed since the making of your video. Step 7 - Mi Video now (4.54 mins into your video) the "Personalised Recommendations" box is no longer there so unable to turn off. Similarly, Step 9 - "Folders" (5.44 mins into your video) I'm unable to see Is the "Promoted Apps) option so again unable to turn off. Are both of these issues as a result of the latest MUIU version 12.5.2 removing these options?
Thanks Colin for your feedback. The video is still relevant even now. Depending on which country you got your Poco from, it’s possible Xiaomi removed the option from your version. So you should be ok.

Some you can. Some can be stopped so the don’t appear. All just pop them into a folder. If you get a bit more advanced, with ADB and a PC anything can be removed.
A comprehensive and useful guide BUT could have been improved by attending to the following: * Move in closer, especially at the top part of the screenshots * Use a better camera to improve icon sharpness * Remove the light reflection out of range of the screenshots * The screen was a tad too dull to see clearly * Slow down the instruction steps a tad for beginners It’s stated in another review that removing ads affects the navigation generally. What are the downsides - if any - to fiddling around with the pre installed data?
Hi Kevin, appreciate the feedback. My focus is always on the quality of the content versus anything else but understand your points totally. I simply ran out of time to re-record without the light reflections. I’m not aware of any problems. I’ve carried out these steps on all my devices. And if you read the comments so have 1,000s of others now. Removing ads should help protect your privacy more, use less data and speed up things. This is a non intrusive method. Other more complex exist where you root the phone. I don’t agree with this way personally.

You can pay RUclips and not have ads. Same if you buy an Amazon Kindle. Should be an option or declared if price is funded by ads. The other issue is what and who is getting your data.

As for getting data part again personally I would like some more legislation in this area. User profiling means companies can overtime learn more about us than even we ourselves are consciously aware of This is bit Orwellian and I would rather avoid that future.

I’ve not personally used the M3 yet, others have as you will have read in the comments, these phones all follow the same system. I used this method on many previous phones.
I have a xiaomi black shark msa will not turn off i tried 16 times any other way.? I pay 900 bucks for a phone and i have to look at ads when i go to my app folders or frickin anything it's ridiculous.
or....simply use pi-hole in your internet connection like in your home, and block all those ads, for mobile solution, setup a vpn server and install dns server / pi-hole which will block all the ads, aggresively

You're missing something somewhere. It's just a logical step by step. There is another option within the app that needs turning off. It's either named ads or recommendations. I use the file manager and don't get ads.
Finally, not clickbait video that shows how to actually disable ads.
I don't do click bait ever. Just helpful stuff and honest reviews

I have a xiaomi black shark msa will not turn off i tried 16 times any other way.? I pay 900 bucks for a phone and i have to look at ads when i go to my app folders or frickin anything it's ridiculous.
Keep trying it. Maybe use a vpn, then try it. It will eventually work. One of my devices took 10 attempts
I like for the info but man you need to zoom in your camera it is difficult to see what you were doing

or....simply use pi-hole in your internet connection like in your home, and block all those ads, for mobile solution, setup a vpn server and install dns server / pi-hole which will block all the ads, aggresively
There are many complex solutions but they aren't for everyone. 😀

They can be removed as well. Turn off ads and personal recommendations within the file manager settings app. Look carefully.

You're missing something somewhere. It's just a logical step by step. There is another option within the app that needs turning off. It's either named ads or recommendations. I use the file manager and don't get ads.

They go back to default ads after 90 days or reboot restart the device you'll see it sucks. 👎🧐🤔🤨
