What I loved about this act (and Act 3 in Diablo 3) is how it felt like you are just a piece in an army, fighting another army, not a wanderer doing everything himself without any help. The whole screen filled with combat, fireballs, explosions etc. and this music, it was truly epic.
Act V was my favourite. It was very fast paced and the fact Harrogath was under siege and war was everywhere around it at that time made the whole Act very fun to play at.
I used to like running back and forth saving all the npc barbarians, so when you get close to the top there will be like 4 or 5 of em fighting with you.Well, unless they get stuck on a bush or random obstacle on the way up...lol.
My favourite part is 4:00 and onwards. It fits the tone and visual of the heroes fighting Baal's minions while going up the snowy Mount Arreat so perfectly. It really pulled me in.
James Salvatore They did bring him back as an addition last year actually. He isn't very expensive but in D3 he's worth it. All of his summons now summon automatically and he's very cool to play with.
Alexandre Savoie-Amirizian the only thing the D3 necromancer has in relation to the D2 necromancer is the name. It's literally not the same class at all. It's terrible now seeing as the best build is just running around waiting for something to die so that you can spam corpse lance...
Well this is one of the first composition to show how you build warlike tension , the code that were used back then will continue to be used forever because they works quite well .
I once reached Act V with a bone army necromancer build, and boy, oh boy it felt sooo epic listening to this music in the background (especially 1:30 )while I was fighting the swarm of demon armies in the ruined fields along with my fellow skeleton warriors, mud golem and my trusted desrt mercenary as well as some of the occasional surviving barbarians still braving the attacks of Mephisto's army
Yes. This game is amazing, especially the multiplayer, and sells for under $10 in most places (the original game was released 9 years ago and the expansion 7 years). Get both.
the sountrack since Uelmen left is utterly generic wank. I was blown away by this score. Obviously D1 is beyond Iconic, and D2 perfectly amped up the gothic horror, and made it feel like a diablo game, but this was such an unexpected turn. They've tried to capture this with D3's soundtrack but they have absolutely failed
Great song but it misses a part actually, there should be a nice build up theme at the moment you walk out of harrogath. At any part actually, if you know which one i mean ^^
EVERYONE likes gustav. We all know John Williams does too :p Besides, sampling from the greats is a good thing, it shows our appreciation. Just like the Jaws theme is basically the low strings part from Rite of Spring by Stravinsky
Anyone know where exactly in the game this piece is played? And what the one at the end of the game is (during the cinematic where Tyrael throws his sword into the Worldstone)?
@ForsakenZOL =D i didnt know that. the only version i have on my pc is this. can u tell me plz where can i find, her or download the official verison?? i never heard of that version. answer me plz =) i apreciate
Why do the Expansion songs sound so much more generic then the rest of the game's songs? Sounds more like something out of final fantasy then something from Uelmen.
if you play other Blizzard games then you should flogg yourself for not playing D and consider yourself lucky..it's 40 bucks in most places here in houston, tx

I agree. Act V in D2 and Act 3 in D3 were amazing because they were actually war acts and they were intense and fun to play in.

Necromancer's Army vs the Siege >:D bring it on
Dude. The memories... hate that blizz decided not to bring back the original necro in D3.

if u mean Xul then no hes now a hero in HOTS but they did bring back necromancer but a bit diferent

"It takes more than a siege to stop me."
This definitely is an homage to Gustav Holst's "Mars" movement from "The Planets".
All good soundtracks are either descendants of Holst or Stravinsky. But this is a good thing.
HOLY COW LEVEL ITS TRUE
Well this is one of the first composition to show how you build warlike tension , the code that were used back then will continue to be used forever because they works quite well .
During some parts it reminds of The Mummy’s theme.
Matt Uelmen is a beast

Could easily get into a WW2 movie in the Eastern front. So powerful track.
actually it kind of reminds me of MOHAA soundtrack in north africa
"The time has come to cleanse my homeland!"
What u want starts from 1:40
This tune was the inspiration for that piece of music.
This piece seriously reminds me of Mars by Gustav Holst. I bet it was the inspiration.

I absolutely love this track. Masterpiece!
01:31 The only game which has similar music to CONAN THE BARBARIAN is this game. FU Blizzard for fucking up part III !!!
getting back to the Diablo 2 made me realize that I prefer this track over Diablo 3 theme
The song is awesome. And the pic too.
There's no comparison: this is way better than all diablo 3 game music.

For me the best song of Diablo, play with Slovak Radio Philharmonic, legendary....

We got some Holst- Mars in here
Yup!
Great Song!!
The new diablo 3 theme song(Overture) seems to rip from Around 1:45
I feel act 5 is a bit odd compared to the rest of the game with music and stuff. But I like the contrast, and its still really good.
3:47 to 4:05 is utterly gorgeous.

Siegefried! Funeral March!
Not sure if that was an actual song or just a musical snippet recorded just for that cinematic (likely).

Nothing like Wagner to lend your game and story some gravitas. An absolute classic.
Did this guy compose the Sound track for Total Annihilation too?
