Thanks for this! I didn't even realize I was doing it wrong - using it like a guitar capo and needlessly pulling strings out of tune

Hi Jeff I bought your books and use them every day! Great instruction manuals, easier than Earl whatshisname book.

Just after the 9 minute mark, he said he's at the 7th fret for the key of B. But wasn't he really on the 9th fret?

I have a Shubb Capo, which can be Flipped Around the Opposite Way to do the 5th Fret +.
And because I have an Old Framus Banjo, which the String Spread is Even due to No Graduated Widening Down the Neck, when Using my Reagan 5th String Capo, I had to Sandpaper the [soft] Brass to make the String Slot Entry Shorter, as the 4th String was Hitting the 5th.

Terry is no longer making the Reagan capo but you can try our Strum Hollow capo based on the Reagan design strumhollow.com/collections/banjo-capos/products/5th-string-banjo-capo

If it takes you a few hours to capo, you should consider a different instrument

  • @Oueax

Way too much overcomplicated. You put on a capo, just before the fret then tighten it. Loosen the strings before then tune your instrument with the capo ON. I got angry watching the man babbling with the capo tension...
