- The ANC has announced that ten political parties with seats in the National Assembly have signed the Government of National Unity (GNU) Statement of Intent.
The parties are the ANC, DA, Patriotic Alliance, IFP, GOOD, FF Plus, UDM, Rise Mzansi, PAC and Al Jama-ah.
The ANC says the 10 parties secured over 70% of the vote in the 2024 elections thus ensuring broad representativity and a strong mandate to govern.
In a statement, the party says any further parties wishing to join the GNU will be subject to clause 24 of the Statement of Intent, which states that there be discussion and agreement amongst the existing parties, whenever new parties want to be part of the GNU.
Meanwhile, President Cyril Ramaphosa is expected to announce his cabinet soon.

Have you gone to see the poor areas where the DA governs. DA needs to fix their mentality that they now living in a democracy and they need to govern well for all, if they want to be taken seriously.

I'm clear in mind that you need these white guys to develop your economy for you with it concomitant benefits. Who said he needs to shout and swear? The issue is gossip has been turned into reporting. He is coming with gossip and drawing inferences from those gossips and thereafter parade and present them as analysis.
We have Twitter for gossip. At SABC we need reporting that is grounded in facts and not gossip. If we want gossip we will go to YFM.

I don't think DA will walk away, DA is the second largest party in the country and this a difficult criteria to be used by President Cyril Ramaphosa in selecting and applying the scenario where there is powersharing not majority rules. They must work together.

Call it what you like, It CAN only be better than what we had and debates in Parliment and Nothing will be past unless all parties involved in the GNU agree so why worry. SA needs this to be a teamwork solution, Our party leaders are now squabbling over their positions , CR still has the prerogative to choose the plum portfolio's for the ANC yet he knows that their failed track record on service delivery and growing the economy brought his party to only a 41 % . Cyril realizes that needs only choose the best people for the job and not all these party leaders are really suitable ministers. All the failures of this GNU to govern will result in collective responsibility . The MK opposition will be watching to see if this collective has the ability to lead and if it fails because of big egos they will surely benefit by from an ineffective President whose grand coalition is a lame duck.

In fact, according to them, the people who created the DA were the people who used to represent the conservative clan of the NP, which was the party of the apartheid regime itself. In my opinion (even though the DA does have issues), the best political parties we have in South Africa at this moment are the DA, the IFP, and Action SA. I think the DA hasn't done enough for their poor so far, but they are capable of keeping the economy strong and functioning. The ANC, EFF and MK can't address the needs of the poor OR keep the economy functioning well. What money will be given to the poor if there is no money to givee when the economy has collapsed.

Political demography has indicated that the DA has many black people who have joined it out of frustration with the ANC 's brazen corruption. There are millions of people who went to vote for the DA and other political formations just because they had become frustrated with the factionalusm going on in the ANC. When Ramaphosa closed the taps of looting, they left the ANC and offered themselves as a viable option to solve the mess that they have created.
