Expedition Everest is just pure fun! That backwards helix in the dark really is one of the more intense moments on a Disney ride. I've heard from more than one person that they thought the ride went upside down during that portion.
I have so many laps on this thing. Back before Avatar when Animal Kingdom used to be dead I would just park on the single rider line and loop this coaster endlessly. My record was 13 times in a row. Not the most intense but intense for a Disney ride and infinitely rerideable.
I’m seriously super hyped for this ride! I’m riding it in a couple weeks and this and Guardians are my two most anticipated roller coasters at their parks
So, my first ride on Everest, I was in the front (asked for it), and it was okay, but I wasn't as blown away by it. The morning after, around the same time, we went on again, this time near the back, I was totally blown away. I wasn't a posG guy then like I am now, and I dug it, so i think I'd love it more now.
@@CanobieCoaster I did space mountain for the first time this year but haven’t gotten back to Florida to ride guardians of the galaxy but it looks like a great ride from what I’ve seen
Love this coaster! I rode it 4 times in a row (the final 3 in quick succession thanks to the single rider line) but I couldn’t marathon it further with the intensity of the backwards indoor helix which put some pressure on my sinuses. The release into the main drop after seeing the projection is such a highlight.
I remember visiting around 2004 or 2005 when the mountain was being built and it just looked jaw-dropping. The ride is cool for Disney. I enjoy the queue museum/outpost theming.
I got a few rides on this coaster in 2006. I really like the ride. Very suspenseful and a long ride with some solid practical theming everywhere. I also really like the backwards helix.
Just a really fun coaster. I love it. Reminds me of how I felt going on the Matterhorn as a kid(duh). Cant wait to take my kids on it when theyre a little older.
I actually not only got evacuated from Everest last week, but it was from the twisted track right before you go backwards. They announced 3 times the ride would start moving immediately and it never did. 4th time they said they were powering down. I wish I knew what happened. They really seemed like they didn't want to have to evac us from up there and I looked online, and I can't find a video of people getting evac'd from up there, they always eventually roll back to the next brake so they're on an even level.
@CanobieCoaster Nope. This was pretty late in the day around 4:30 or so. I checked queue-times the next morning and it was showing as back open by then. It was the only downtime in 7 days and the 1 time I rode it! Here's all the footage I took ruclips.net/p/PLKKwOlVHP03S6sXRRLmopI7D88YTNPeWf
I rode this coaster three times in the front and three times in the back on Memorial Day weekend and it is still a lot of fun. Both rows are equally exciting for me, and I only slightly prefer Guardians of the Galaxy cosmic rewind.
I love the themeing on Disney rides. Useless trivia, Expedition Everest debuted the same day I had my tonsils and adnoids removed, along with tubes placed in my ears.
IMO the best coaster at the Walt Disney World Resort, although when it comes to personal preferences, I do enjoy Space and Thunder Mountain a bit more. I'll definitely take this over Guardians for sure, hopefully Tron is more impressive
@@CanobieCoaster Guardians was just a flat out disappointment for me. $500 million my ass. I went into the ride with pretty low expectations, and when I rode it, I felt even more disappointed. It feels like a combo of Space Mountain and Rock n Roller coaster, but somehow feeling duller than either of those rides. The only moments that were decent for me were the backwards launch and the helix with the moon, the rest was just a mesh of random turns and s bends with little force to them. That being said, I feel like what made it such a disappointment to me was the story. When I ride something like Rise of the Resistance, Rock n Roller Coaster, Flight of Passage, or most other Disney rides, I feel like I'm actually involved in the story, like I'm actually in the movies. I feel like a Rebel escaping a First Order Star Destroyer, or a fan of Aerosmith hitching a ride in a Stretch Limo to get to their concert, or a visitor of Pandora linking to a Na'Vi Avatar on a banshee. When I rode Cosmic Rewind, I felt like I had no connection to the story, and it doesn't have to do with the IP, because the first Guardians film is one of my favorites in the MCU. But when I rode it, I didn't feel like my role in the story had any impact, we were just dragged in to watch from the sidelines as the Guardians fight this Celestial. It just felt... off.
No matter how impractical and unlikely it is, I still hold out hope someone, some day, will fix the yeti. And, based on the current management, I’m going to have to have “fix the yeti” on my tombstone.
I think I'd give Rock 'n' Roller Coaster the "most intense" label; also Everest's general smoothness makes it feel less wild and out of control than Big Thunder Mountain or Space Mountain, where a bit of jank is part of the thrill. But you do get some serious positives on the backwards helix. And Everest is my favorite overall. My biggest complaint about this ride, at least as it was the times I rode it, is that I think the strobe effect on the yeti is *too* strobey and fleeting--I understand the need to hide that the animatronic is nonfunctional, but I find I can barely tell that there's supposed to be any kind of creature there, and I really can't see it at all if I happen not to be looking in just the right direction. I'd rather get a good look at a motionless figure than, effectively, no look at all.
Eh RnRC has a solid launch and sea serpent roll but then it takes its foot off the gas real quick. It it's a toss up between the two; Tower of Terror is def better than both.
I'm guessing that this will be my favorite coaster at any US Disney park. I can't see anything else even coming close for me. My mom loved it. It seems like my kind of ride, more-so than Guardians. I did ride Space Mountain as my first ever coaster at age 12, but I hated coasters then, so I need to ride it again. I still don't see it topping Everest. I'm a former hiker/mountain climber who now rides coasters.
hey man i love your content, best roller coaster youtuber out there. quick question, are you doing a review on the guardians coaster at Epcot? would love to see what you think of that one. Thanks!
Being one of the most popular roller coasters in the world for the GP, I can definitely see why. It tells quite a story, the ride has been insane when it got built and all the issues it had but wow is it crazy. It may not be the most intense thing ever but it's definitely quite fun. The helixes pull slight Gs which and airtime out of the tunnel but I also love the reverse section. I have a question though, how do you know you start to grey out on the backwards section if it's already I'm complete darkness so you can't tell you loose your vision?
You heard about the defunct White Canyon wooden coaster at Yomiuriland in Japan ? That cyclone clone was built by RCCA,TOGO and Morgan, and is considered ond the worst wooden coaster ever built. I mean why Yomiuriland think was a good idea built a wooden coaster by RCCA and two manufactures that never built a wooden coaster before ?
Certainly my favorite Disney coaster. Haven’t been in many years but it’s just such a great experience coaster
Prefer Space and Guardians, but still good.

I've seen that part get multiple people sick.

You can still do that with the single line.
Friggin rad....

Enjoy!
I saw this being built when I was 5 and remember the scale of it so vividly
The construction photos looked amazing.
This is my favorite Disney coaster. Such a fun one with amazing theming!

Those Gs on the helix are no joke.
YES, on the dancing yeti I felt like I was free falling
It's trippy.
This is my all time favourite Disney rollercoaster, the theming is incredible and the surprises are so great! I definitely agree with your opinions
Great ride. Prefer Space and Guardians though.

Interesting. Never gotten that type of airtime.

This video makes me want to return to Florida so badly, this and of course my passion for seafood, especially crab.
It's a good reason to return.

I like Guardians and Space over this.

That's fair the others may be more intense overall. But this one seems to cause more issues for people with that backwards helix.

I can tell the feeling.
I think that Rock'n roller coaster or space mountain is more intense.
I went here last in 2006 and that was my first launched looping coaster so yes I agree
This one has a case because of that helix.
Great review, but you said that the ride goes to 412 feet!!
I think I did say 112 ft, but it just wasn't annunciated well.

I never rode it, but I heard that was awful.
How about this vs Verbolten?
I hope TRON beats this in terms of intensity.
I think Verbolten is a bit more intense.
Do you think TRON Lightcycle Run will surpass Expedition Everest as the most intense coaster at WDW?
I'm not sure. Haven't watched a full POV of that one deliberately.
such a stupid move that joe rhode has retired and not giving any closure to fixing the yeti animatronic.
Yeah it’s a shame
I don't think it makes financial sense for Disney to fix it.
What’s the thrill of this vs Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure?
I think the helix on this one is more intense than any moment on Hagrid's.
If you’ve ridden it, what do you think of this vs Indiana Jones et le Temple du Peril?
Indiana Jones was a bit jerky. Liked how the ride looked though.
Are we getting a Guardians review any time soon?
Maybe in the next month.
I disagree. If I rode it, R&R coaster at HS would be more intense because of the inversions
This helix is more intense than the inversions.
50 mph
Yes
you need to add an epilepsy warning to this video
Thanks, I'll add that to the description.
I think this is a boring coaster compared to Space Mountain
I prefer Space, but this is far from boring.
