I'm always astonished that tourists are clueless about mainland Greece, which is actually the best part of the country. Greece is very mountainous with heavy winters and full of ski resorts.
Your friends are awesome. I was in US Air Force and stationed on island of Crete back in the 80's for almost 8 years. I've seen many Dolpins taking ferries between islands.

Hi Gabriel, that looked like an amazing meal, and the atmosphere was very relaxing along with a nice drink you can't go wrong. Nicole and Christos have found peace of mind in the Greek Island of Paros, foregoing much of the pretense of living in a complex city with all its trappings. I believe many want that but don't know how to escape that life.
Relaxing Greek lifestyle is starting to look so appealing! Post-covid continuous WFH has destroyed motivation for so many people, including myself - this laid back lifestyle looks ideal!

Stay with the Ionian Islands. They are so much closer to you. You earn at least 2 days of vacation, if you just stay there. Gabriel has made some wonderful videos about those islands, last year. Check them out....

It's funny most people don't know that there you can ski in Greece or even that it does snow in some parts of Greece every year. On mount Olympus if you dare the climb there is also a ski resort. Dinner looked good, did you enjoy this fish?
It snows in Athens every year. Hell it even snowed in the islands last year, if you google around you will see maybe even Paros covered in snow, surreal!

This is a wonderful video, Gabriel! Thank you! So happy you see you enjoying yourself with friends! This brought back such great memories of 2017 when I sailed some of the Greek Islands for six weeks. Every island had this same kind of atmosphere. Great people, wonderful food and wine, exquisite outdoor restaurants and cafes, fantastic views and gorgeous sunsets! I didn't have a dolphin experience in Greece but I did have a swordfish experience! I was standing at the stern, having put away the fenders into their lockers, and as I turned to look at the Atlas Peninsula, a swordfish jumped out of the water and arched as it soared over the wake of the sailboat and then plunged back into the sea! It happened in a flash. A memory I will cherish forever. Enjoy your precious time in Greece! I will check out Nicole's shop. Safe travels.😊💙🇬🇷

Actually Gabriel (and it ll probably amaze you because of the location) the New York Times suggested the Leuka Ori (White Mountains) in *Crete* as one of the best spring skiing destinations in the world.

Taramosalata - tarama salad: White fish eggs (White tarama is considered superior in quality as it is made entirely from cod or other fish eggs (with added salt and sugar) blended with 2-3 day old bread, onion juice, lemon juice, olive oil. You taste and adjust, till the saltiness is not prominent.-gone. For a bowl taramosalata 50 -100 gr of tarama is enough.

Its not very diversified as its based on local ingredients which are generally the same everywhere in Greece. But its one of my favorite cuisines for sure.
Gabriel let me give you and those that watch your channel some info. The fish you ate was fresh but it was supermarket fresh. While Greek farmed fish is exceptional, it is not phenomenal. There is a significant difference in both texture and taste compared to wild caught fish; those that live near coasts know exactly what I am talking about. The selection of fish he had is typical of what you find in a Greek supermarket; Tsipoura/Sea Bream and Sea Bass is 7-8€/kg. Fagri/White Snapper is 13-14€/kg. Greek Sea Bream and Greek Sea Bass is readily available even at Costco here in Canada and the United States. Wild caught fish served at a restaurant/fish tavern is VERY expensive. How do I know it was farmed fish without eating it? Apart from the type of fishes, notice that for each kind of fish the size was the same. Wild caught fish are of differing sizes. I understand that for your services you received a free dinner, but in my opinion your services were worth a lot more than the dinner served. The other plates were mezethes/appetizers. You do not eat a plate of Tarama… Oh and a bit of history. Greeks traditionally eat fish eggs. During the Greek revolution a man named Barbakios destroyed a fleet of Turkish war ships on behalf of the Russian navy. He could no longer stay in Greece and fled to St Petersburg, Russia. Catherine the Great gifted him a large area surrounding the Caspian Sea for his heroic act helping the Russian Navy. It was he who discovered how to process and keep fresh the eggs of Sturgeon fish… he was in fact the founder of caviar. When you have time watch the movie “ Even Gods Love Caviar”. Enjoy Paris!!!
The Aegean is overfished, so restaurants in Greece have to sell farmed fish . I went out with a Turkish fisherman line fishing in the Aegean , myself a Kurdish h friend and the fisherman were out on the boat all morning and didn't catch a single fish .

My experience of greek Island living. Most people are living on peanuts. Few rich ones screwing everyone else over (including greek government)
Is Greek food really that diversified like Italian or Spanish food. Looks like basically the same food everywhere.

Gabriel let me give you and those that watch your channel some info. The fish you ate was fresh but it was supermarket fresh. While Greek farmed fish is exceptional, it is not phenomenal. There is a significant difference in both texture and taste compared to wild caught fish; those that live near coasts know exactly what I am talking about. The selection of fish he had is typical of what you find in a Greek supermarket; Tsipoura/Sea Bream and Sea Bass is 7-8€/kg. Fagri/White Snapper is 13-14€/kg. Greek Sea Bream and Greek Sea Bass is readily available even at Costco here in Canada and the United States. Wild caught fish served at a restaurant/fish tavern is VERY expensive. How do I know it was farmed fish without eating it? Apart from the type of fishes, notice that for each kind of fish the size was the same. Wild caught fish are of differing sizes. I understand that for your services you received a free dinner, but in my opinion your services were worth a lot more than the dinner served. The other plates were mezethes/appetizers. You do not eat a plate of Tarama…
Oh and a bit of history. Greeks traditionally eat fish eggs. During the Greek revolution a man named Barbakios destroyed a fleet of Turkish war ships on behalf of the Russian navy. He could no longer stay in Greece and fled to St Petersburg, Russia. Catherine the Great gifted him a large area surrounding the Caspian Sea for his heroic act helping the Russian Navy. It was he who discovered how to process and keep fresh the eggs of Sturgeon fish… he was in fact the founder of caviar. When you have time watch the movie “ Even Gods Love Caviar”.

The Aegean is overfished, so restaurants in Greece have to sell farmed fish . I went out with a Turkish fisherman line fishing in the Aegean , myself a Kurdish h friend and the fisherman were out on the boat all morning and didn't catch a single fish .

I think Mediterranean food is an acquired taste. I haven't tried any that I liked.
