Hey friends! ATO didn't make the list this year, it was my top game a few years ago. I really enjoyed Cycle 4, but in general, the balance between story and combat doesn't land for me. If I want to read a book, I will read a book. That's not a criticism of the writing, which is the best narrative I've read in a board game, it's just a bit much. I ended up not recording Cycle 5 so I could just play and not have to read as much! My other observation: I played the first 3 Cycles three times, and although Cycles 4-5 felt different mechanically, in a way, they also felt like more of the same. I enjoyed the heck out of ATO and I may come back and play it through again, but for now it sits proudly on the shelf with some cool painted models and great memories. Cheers!
Amazing… makes me feel like I’ve wasted a shitload of money and that’s not on you deno but I feel we have similar interests so :.. not a KDM killer then
It's definitely not a waste! I painted every figure, played through all the Cycles and recorded three full playthroughs. Just because the game has reached a point of 'enough' for me, doesn't mean it's not still an amazing experience that you'll love!
Great video! KD:M is my number 1 all time too, so it’s great to see what other games to check out from someone with similar tastes. I’ll have to give Euthia another try. Didn’t quite hit it for me, although I was playing on TTS. Love all your content! Thanks so much.
Thanks for following, Jake! I love KDM, what an experience! But nice to play other games to keep things fresh, and makes me excited for new content. I really enjoyed Euthia once I stopped having to think about the rules overhead and just got to focus on cool decisions.

That experience of playing a character and have it grow over the course of a game rather than a campaign is such a big part of why I like Spirit Island. I'm hyped to both try ATO and Earthborne Rangers in the new year! It was watching your playthrough of Cycle 4 that sealed it. Looking forward to the playthrough of the Elder Scrolls game!
I love Spirit Island. It's one of my go-to app games. I've got something like 500+ plays on my app, as well as thirty or so physical plays! Elder Scrolls is going to be epic, I think. I almost landed a pre-production copy to do some early playthroughs but it fell through. Still, only a few weeks left now until it arrives!

I would like to buy KDM+gambler chest+season 1 expansion(?). Is it worth for solo?
It's an incredible solo experience, but it's also a lot of rules overhead and cognitive load. So depends if you are used to that!
