After further research, it appears all you had to do was flip the Oil pump worm gear and you would have been good to go. You installed it correctly in Part 2. (14:23 in this video and 2:12 in Part 2) Hope this helps someone.
hey man I tore my truck down a while back I'm putting it back together now but I can't figure out where the long bolt on the timing chain cover goes could you help me with that I would appreciate it thank you in advance
Im not sure but i would check any bolt hole that has a long standoff . Like on the cover it not close to the mating surface of the cover the to the engine block. Good luck
Bro I live in louisiana and I'm in the process of rebuilding my timing chain on my 1996 d21 KA24E I ordered oil and water pump the OSK timing chain kit the martin industries tensioner I ordered a valve cover gasket kit and I'm hoping I have everything I need to do this rebuild right the first time is there anything else that you can recommend me getting before I start I've heard on a video I've watch where this guy said to also get a new distributor but I don't think my truck needs a new 1 to be honest I didn't think my truck needed a new oil or water pump but I'm just seeking advice I'm worried about messing this job up I spent everything I have in buying the truck and all these parts I just want my d21 to be A-1
I’m glad you got all the parts, I don’t think you need a new distributor, but if you’re going to be in the engine that much you might want to replace the engine oil seal, the one on the front of the engine.
Hello, what was the cause of you changing the timing chain. Was it rattling or it just didn't want to run? I have a 95 Nissan pickup. Everything seems to be ok but it just won't start
Thanks for watching and asking! So my chain was rattling at startups and I had to reseal the oil pan when I pulled the oil pan I found the plastic chain guides s broken in little pieces in the oil pan. So I decided it was time to change the chain. For a no start condition, check to make sure you have spark first, then make sure your fuel is reaching the injectors. If those are all good then more diagnostic will be needed.
I’m putting a 95 hardbody engine in a 97 hardbody only this I seen different is the mounting holes for the distributor anyway I can tap a bolt to hold it ?
I saw one thinking about buying for the ka24e ,is a adjustable sprocket I know the rattle are commun on this trucks heard this sprocket also give the truck bit extra power on the rpms
What's up bro...quick question...I took off the power steering pump and belt prior to setting the timing...is that ok or is not right? And I also noticed that once I set the to sprocket in the center and the dot at 3oclock, the bottom little spike doesnt line up on the 2 dash on the pulley..can you advise me please..I'm not a mechanic just a diy kinda dude....thanks bro.
Hey man, yeah it’s fine to take those off… as for the pulley not lining up, I would make sure it’s at the compression stroke of piston number 1. Turn the engine over with a ratchet, with your finger or someone’s finger in the number 1 spark plug hole, you will feel the compression push your finger away that is how you know your on the compression stroke.. then check your lines again.
Thanks for watching. Yeah it kind of sucks to do that. The main issue was that the Chinese stuff I bought from Amazon. The chain was a bit too long and that’s what caused all the issues so I ended up buying a brand new chain, upper cam gear, lower cam gear off of Nissan For less than I paid for the stuff from Amazon. Thanks for watching.
@@Bread45 i dont believe so it did start up but it made pinging sounds and huge loss of power. sold it for 600$ someone grabbed it next day they go fast dont let go of it i regret it everyday.

Wait what do you mean please explain
Thanks brother really needed a good sohc ka video an you made it 🎉
Glad it helped 🫡
Hey man, glad you're back. Hope you find the issue and get back on the road soon.
Thanks Clint! Congratulations on the 1K
I have been struggling with my 89 for two months thanks for this video I mite get it now
Thanks for watching!
Helpful video thanks man!
Glad it helped! No problem
Extremely helpful. Thank you.
So I've got a question: When you put back the oil pump, what position was the distrubutor when you re timed it?
The distributor rotor needs to point at the number 1 spark plug
What is the correct orientation for the distributor gear? you installed it the opposite direction (in part 2) from how you removed it?
The rotor will be pointing to 4 o clock on the distributor which should be pointing a plug wire number one
Good video
Am goin to do the work today

Bro made a 17+ min video on how to NOT replace your timing chain
Thanks for watching!

Not really sure I know they are different and I don’t think it will line up with the oil pump shaft. I would just pick up a 97 distributor
You have to change timing cover to a 97
I saw one thinking about buying for the ka24e ,is a adjustable sprocket I know the rattle are commun on this trucks heard this sprocket also give the truck bit extra power on the rpms
I would also get the self adjusting tensioner it’s from Martin Industries www.martin-industries.net/product-page/nissan-ka24e-self-adjusting-tensioner
What if your notch doesn’t line up
Exelente
Is it the same configuration with the Terrano1/Pathfinder Z2.4 gas wagon/suv?
I am not sure I have never done a Z24

Wonderful engine's, sucks doing these though 👍🏻

oh snap i took the crank pulley off without setting the timing hopefully i can recover from this
We're you able to recover? What happened?
@@titsandwich1842 i wasnt able to myslef with little knowledge i knew i sold the truck for 600$

Lol
Never install used parts if possible ,
Never have never will! Thanks!
