I always felt so bad for Nute Gunray and the robot dude whats his name........Wat Tambor? But yes all that stuff left me scarred in my childhood watching those
It was meant to attract children and then traumatize them, destroying their innocence and converting them into mentally scarred "adults." This is the agenda of media in general. Even Disney, THE kid's media company, has been inserting adult themes into their movies for quite a while.
I don't hate Finn, I'm just disappointed he didn't get an awesome arc he deserved. Whether it was becoming a jedi or just simply providing more insight on how it was like being a stormtroopers
I honestly thought he was going to be the protagonist in The Force Awakens. An ex-storm trooper rebels and eventually becomes a Jedi and overthrows the wannabe-empire
I guess in some ways episode three seemed from a kid mentality. All the earlier shows had the big lightsaber fights sort of as dramatic conclusions. Episode 3 was just fight after fight. Kind of like movies that are all massive explosions and adrenaline. It does kind of work as a conclusion to the other six movies in being the last of them, and some of the fights were pretty awesome. Think at the time I was building up my thoughts about movies (was pretty young), and it kind of broke the rules I’d put in my head for a bunch of other movies I enjoyed with grand finales.
I loved Ahsoka’s character arc, her lightsaber form (holding her blades backwards was dope and something I hadn’t seen in Star Wars films or shows until then) and literally everything about her. She may be my favorite female character in any film or show. 10/10 would love to see her in more Star Wars content
I 100% love Ahsoka, she is one of my favourite characters from Clone wars, and Star Wars at all too. But I kinda don't want to see her when not in Clone Wars / Rebels, because I fear that she could be really "not fitting" while played by a real actress... Well i will watch The Mandalorian 2 anyways
George Lucas am I right? If he really did aim the prequels at them, either he really had faith in his younger audience members or he forgot/had no idea exactly where PG becomes PG-13 becomes R when he made them.
Hayden Christensen should not be with these characters. Plus in all the years since playing Anakin, he never once talk shit to the fans and even willing to come back as Anakin.
J “they were animals and I slaughtered them like animals” “I’m haunted by the kiss you’ve given me” he’s not a bad actor there’s plenty of evidence to the contrary he was given no direction as is custom with Lucas and given horrible lines to try to pin the character being bad on him is stupid I can’t believe that people think otherwise

@1 1 It would have been much more interesting watching a character deal with being the descendant of a mass murderer. Rey was too, but that was all of 30 min. It would have been a great way to connect it to the OT in which the Empire are basically Nazis. Today a lot of people are descendants of Nazis, KKK members, Apartheid leaders or whatever hate group and have the same struggles.
If Lukas haven't bent over from the back lash, Jar Jar wouldn't be a hated character, he would have been seem as quite the sith that he was suposed to be
Finn should of been the Mc of the sequel trilogy Stormtrooper Jedi trying to lead his fellow brothers and sisters away from the path of evil? Yes please.
The similarities between Luke and Rey are superficial. The differences are quite clear: In Ep IV Luke is introduced to something totally new and for most of the movie, he is carried by other characters. The "only" thing he accomplishes is in the end when he shoots his proton torpedo trusting in the force. In Ep V he fails on Dagoba and loses his fight against Vader. Only in Ep VI years later he is ready to face Vader again and the Emperor. He is the classical hero. Rey needs no training, she doesn't lose. Instead she defeats Kylo Ren in her first movie. She even brings an old, broken Luke back on tracks ... She is a Mary Sue.
Rey defeated Kylo because he was not in his best condition mentally and physically, and he didn't want to "defeat" her, per se. He was told to bring Snoke to her. Context is key, you know.

Exactly! Not saying that it wasn't bad writing but tbh Anakin was raised to not have attachments so he probably wouldn't know how to talk to women he liked.
I think The Phantom Menace did bring in a younger generation of fans purposefully but then it grew with them. ROTS was just balls out and what us OG Star Wars fans wanted. I liked all three prequels. Unlike Disney, Lucasfilm had a vision back then. It got a little lost in his love for CGI. The practical effects were never good enough for George for some reason 🤷♂️ Which sucks cause that's what we love about the original trilogy. The "Skywalker Saga" ends at Jedi for me. Lucas had nothing to do with the half assed monstrosity that ensued. It doesn't really count. 🙂👍
@@morbincrusader5123 Are you talking about the phantom menace, if you are then The only thing in the phantom menace that would be disturbing to children is Darth Maul. Anyway in ROTS there is massive amounts of genocide, decapitation and Anakin getting burnt to a crisp on Mustafar.

Why I hate Rey: She’s a Mary sue, nothing special. And the student of LUKE SKYWALKER who killed younglings got destroyed by a teenager who is weaker than a youngling, Why I hate kylo: his quotes, his dumb sacrifice, and how he’s fucking reckless, like isn’t he the leader of the first order?

The host may be pandering to the establishment just a little because he want's this channel to grow. Everyone cries racism to shut down debate. We thought at the very least Finn would be a huge hero like a jedi or some kind of strike force leader but him and Poe got pushed to the background so Rey could appear more heroic. The banter between Finn and Poe was short but memorable. Man I would had liked to see the two of them go on a mission together where Poe has to hide as a storm trooper but he holds the weapon wrong, can't see out of the helmet ect so Finn teaches him some and we get some insights into the iconic Storm Troopers since they are being more humanized. I didn't like the online speculation about Finn and Poe being gay because Finn had already shown a small interest in Rey unless I guess they wanted him to be a promiscuous bi sexual. But then it is a kids movie that shows a few graphic death scenes so I guess we could have a very horny trooper in there some wheres. That may be delving to much into trooper wants and needs.
i believe the idea is that if you get enslaved and chained, and need to use an underhanded tactic to escape, while waiting for the men to save you, it kind of nullifies a lot of the strong woman points. dont get me wrong it is good that she did that much, but normally a strong female character wouldnt have been in that situation, and if they were they likely wouldve got out on their own merit entirely.
auqanova bullshit, you know how strong a freaking hutt it? They are insanely powerfull physically, the fact she killed a hut in the first place is insane, if luke would have been in this position it would be the same result, why is gender even a damn discussion here, leia is that”strong female” that some agenda pushing people want, just that she is actually likeable cause her powers and positions feel earned.
“The prequels are made for kids” Seeing a guy getting burned alive after murdering 4 year olds is made for kids 😂 Edit: I don’t care anyway it’s not as if I didn’t watch it when I was younger or much more gory, violent or “grown up” stuff.
The problem with Rey was that she never ever loses. think back to when Luke got beat up by a sand person. Could imagine anything like that happening to Rey. No? Exactly, that’s the problem if she never loses and never trains there’s no reason for her to win.
That’s so different how generation has changed. When I saw the prequels when it was screened lots criticized Anakin being too flawed, whiny, and wanted a heroic character at first. Now for Rey in this generation Lots found ones who never lose boring.
What made Kylo Ren a good villain was because he was relate-able, so him removing the masks during the more personal scenes was actually a good thing. If he constantly had his mask on, he would just be Vader 2.0.
People don't hate Anakin's character or the actor, they hate the dialogue given to him I don't think there's a lot of people that hate Jyn Erso, not sure where that's coming from I wouldn't say people HATE Finn, but I'm definitely disappointed with what they did with the character People hate Rey because of everything surrounding the character, the fact that she plays a Luke 2.0 born on tatooine 2.0 and has a battle on hoth 2.0 and destroys death star 3.0 and wants revenge against Darth Vader 2.0 with Palpatine 2.0 controlling him. The writing of the actual character is pretty bad, but it really stands out with the absolute clown show going on around her
The seventh Star Wars Movie was honestly my first one. I could have grown up with the prequels, but the only thing I saw prior to the seventh was the clone wars. The thing is that the seventh film isn’t quite that bad for newcomers and I think that it does a good job of picking up the fans after a long break as well. It sets some pretty good basic plots that have the potential of being the base of the new trilogy. That’s why I personally still like the seventh movie. It all got messed up and basically destroyed by the eighth movie. Although it did have great sets and beautifully showed Star Wars the Movie also had really bad storytelling. The seventh movie ended with a great pallet of ideas for the story that were brilliantly ignored. I mean even Rayan Johnson admitted that he himself isn‘t good at writing stories and I think that this is noticeable. In my very humble opinion every sequel movie character is just a fraction of what he or she might have arisen to and I really do believe that Daisy Ridley is doing a great job with whatever she got there to deal with. Again this is just my humble opinion though.
People only hate the dialogue because it was realistic. He was raised as a slave, then by space monks, and was also a teenager. He wouldn't know how to talk with a girl
Agreed, Po was NOT the problem there. It was Holden who'd rather make bad decisions and keep Po out of everything because...reasons that made no sense to anybody at all. Po had already proven himself. Holden needed to prove herself to the audience and just made problem after problem to cause friction and drama that was not needed.
Yeah he. Imported the mission got demoted half the officers where killed giving him a relatively high rank the admiral sneered at him and explained nothing he saw the her as incapable convinced the remaining officers she was unfit to lead and started a mutany to save the rest of the resistance Honestly he was being reasonable given his information Holden was an incompetent fool that was leading them to his death
Jar Jar IS the key to everything 1. He is Anakin's long lost dad 2. If he didn't give Palpatine emergency powers, Palpatine might have never been able to transform the Republic into the Empire
I hate Rey because I hate the idea that we should be ok with a character who has no flaws, is great at everything, etc. They say it’s supposed to be “empowering” for women, it’s not. It’s insulting to have a character who’s perfect because it’s unrealistic, nobody’s perfect, everyone has something they struggle with. Leia was a strong female character. Padme was. Rey is about as strong as a wet napkin, because she never had to work for anything and just miraculously is good at everything.
They could make her interesting quickly, if they reveal that she's unintentionally channeling the dark side to power her abilities...which are quicker and easier to use. Then it becomes a matter of her having to give up the quick and easy way and really work at using the light side powers. That would be a struggle for her and actually make the audience empathize with her. But that is never going to happen.
How to do a strong female character: Wonder Woman. I simply cannot say enough good things about how refreshing it was to see a female character who is feminine, and it's her femininity that is her strength. Yes, she also kicks some serious butt because she's a super hero, but she wasn't one note. She had a sort of vulnerability, and growth as a character. She already grew up with Amazons, so she didn't really need to gain more skills. But she did need to learn some harsh truths about humanity. And she needed to learn her own true nature, what she actually was, and who her enemy really was, and the real danger he posed. The movie kind of goes off the rails with the last CGI battle, but everything up to that point was completely brilliant. But even her realization about "love" conquering all wasn't bad either. She realized that her role was to be a light to humanity, not a destroyer. It was her own qualities, her own light, her own womanhood that make her great. Rey on the other hand is both skilled, powerful, and she also has no emotional struggles. All of her obstacles are easily defeated. All of her villains are easily disposed of, and she never has to change, or grow, or have a realization. She just gets everything handed to her. She doesn't even really get trained by Luke, and she doesn't have any deep realization in the dark side cave. Nothing was revealed that wasn't already apparent to her or the audience. Seriously the build up to that moment, then it was really underwhelming. I actually like Daisy Ridley, and I wanted to like Rey from the start. But her character is so poorly written that it just keeps getting worse as the story progresses. I had a theory about Rey that would make her less of a Mary Sue, but rather than hinting at that possible past for Rey, the Last Jedi just doubled down on how untouchable she was, and how she didn't have any internal or external conflicts to drive her development.
Correct me if I’m wrong but if Rey had any character flaws wouldn’t the (hopefully small) group of extreme feminists (the ones who want every man to die) would try to boycott any Star Wars movie with Rey in it? I’m a 17 year old guy so I don’t know much about this topic other than the feminist who want men to die often out voice the feminists who just want equality.
I think you nailed it... did luke beat darth vader when they first faced each other in the Empire strike back? No he lost an arm. Did he rush at Vader in a new hope when he knew almost nothing about the force and how to use it? No obi wan faced vader and died... it's the damned basic of story telling... Disney want to push their sjw bullshit at the expense of the story ... did anybody make any bad comment about asoka tano being a female... no because she was properly built... In the prequel trilogy, in the phantom menace i think we all hated the anakin personna , he looked almighty without some build up , it was fixed in the second film with is love interest for padme ...
@@saikikusuo7937 yeah like I don’t like the character jar jar I think he’s a stupid character but attacking the actor because of the character is just so stupid
@@flighttrain1189 agreed. But honestly i think phantom menace would've been completely unwatchable without him. Sure, jar jar's annoying, but he adds a little life to an otherwise completely lifeless film.
Actors are not the characters. They are merely the physical canvas that the character is projected upon by the writers. As such, do not confront the actor of a character you don’t like, confront the writer and/or director.
I didn't get much of a Mary Sue vibe from Jyn Erso. She was a tough female character without belittling the men around her. IMO Rogue One is the best film in the sequel era right now.
Jyn was strong, but not overpowered. Her story arc was pretty solid. We could feel the strain, terror, and sometimes hopelessness she was going through. Felicity Jones deserves more credit for being able to 'sell' the character, even if some of the lines written for her were a little clunky. Her facial expressions when she looks at Cassian at the end, knowing they're both just moments from death, said it all.
I love that people see how Anakin was actually perfectly portrayed by Hayden now. There was a lot of BS that kid went through that he shouldn’t have. All he wanted was a father figure and his mother back, but he didn’t get either of those. Also, nice job with the thumbnail. 3 characters from George SW and 5 characters from Disney SW. 😎👍
@@Partylikeits-br7bb that’s the point. Even though he missed his mother and had emotions for Padmé and had all those nightmares growing up, the Jedi still told him to control his emotions and be mindful of his thoughts. The only thing he could do was hide inside a shell at that point because of everything he was going through. Episode 1 set the stage for who he was to become. If he were to have been trained by Qui-Gon, he would have had the parental figure he needed to succeed. Since Qui-Gon died, he was left with Obi-Wan, a man who was much less capable of training someone at the time and at best could be a brother. He only taught Anakin what his master taught him which is not what Ani needed. This set the stage for Episode 2. Now Anakin has all this pent up anger and resentment for the Jedi order, but he can’t reveal it to his master, so he tells it to the two people he trusts: his love and the chancellor. Then his mom dies in his arms just before he was about to save her. With all that pent up anger he went into a rage and killed off all the sandpeople in that village. When he comes back home he realizes he messed up and confesses once again to his love and the chancellor. This sets the stage for Episode 3. What I believe is the turning point for Anakin isn’t the scene where he helps Palpatine conquer Mace Windu, but rather when he beheads Count Dooku. If you think about it, there’s a touch of symbolism in that moment. He isn’t sure if he should kill him as the chancellor has requested because it isn’t the Jedi way: his own Jedi lightsaber. But he kills the Count anyway because he trusts the chancellor in his reasoning: Dooku’s Sith lightsaber. He’s holding both lightsabers but is torn between two things he isn’t sure he should trust more. Then he falls. Everything thus far has taken its toll on him. He finally succumbs to what has been haunting him all along: his emotions. He goes and does the most rash things, not because he was told to but because he wanted to. Episode 4, Anakin is gone. Darth Vader is all that’s left. The raw hate and anger is what’s feeding him. Episode 5, he finally meets his son. This is another turning point for him. He is the only thing that he knows of that is left of Padmé, so he reaches out and tries to bring him to the darkside where he can teach Luke the ways of the force himself. He doesn’t realize that there’s a Rule of Two, he just wants to be with his kid. If he really wanted to, he would have just killed Luke, but only disarming him shows that Anakin is still in there. Episode 6, he feels lost. He wants to be with his son because he now sees that Luke has finally progressed and become a powerful Jedi Master with his new lightsaber, something he himself never got the chance to achieve because of the Order. He was proud of his son though, not jealous. Then at last, the catalyst to his return and the fall of the Sith empire, his beloved son is in agony due to his own master and he is finally forced with a decision: save his son or follow his master. He was tired and in pain, done living life the was he had for so many years. He wanted that ounce of hope that he used to have, so he saved his son. I know i told Anakin’s whole life story, but that is exactly what Star Wars is, nothing more, nothing less. It’s always been about Ani whether ya like it or not.

What if the ep 7 was about finn escaping/ with an injured Poe dameron. He gets to the rebel base and realizes that life does not have to be just about the life of a slave soldier, but actual freedom and has room to breathe. Then he talks about a rising tension in some storm troopers and how there are factions amungsts the ranks and later manages to get a hold of the factions and some how convinced them that they do not have to take the cruelty of their masters anymore, they rise up and many are killed in the harsh battle and the new republic is able to send in a task force to disable their super weapon. Most of the rebel storm troopers get off of the planet they were trying to take and flee on captured imperial warships, while a small group holds off some of the imperial forces with the super weapons turrets. The remaining soldiers are killed in the detonation of the planet but didnt die in vain. The main rebel storm troopers are taken to a planet and incubated into normal society (and watched for security purposes). Edit : I just realized the end sounds a lot like rouge one, so maybe have it be rebel imperial ISDs and some rebal warships.
His lines were just shit but if you think about it He's a Jedi Padawan, he's never experienced these feelings before and he's actually supposed to suppress them, how would he know what to say? Regarding Rey (who I actually really liked in The Force Awakens), she is the textbook definition of a Mary Sue. By TLJ, she is far more powerful than Luke or Anakin in their respective trilogies, with no training and no hardships to overcome. What's more, because she's all-powerful, there is zero room for her character to develop. Seriously, compare her complete lack of development between TFA and TLJ compared to Luke's in the first two films. Plus it takes away all tension. Think back to 'Empire' when Luke is fighting Vader. First time viewing, we were fearful for Luke, because he is clearly outmatched, and he spends the next twenty minutes of film time getting completely broken, both physically and psychologically. With Rey, there is none of that. In fact, I cannot think of one moment in TLJ that I felt any sort of tension at all. Not only was it by far the worst-written Star Wars film ever, it was nauseatingly BORING. Conversely, look at Arya Stark from Game of Thrones. Not only is she of similar age as Rey, a highly-trained assassin, and arguably the biggest bad-ass in all Westeros, she is one of the most beloved characters in the entire series. So why is Arya not a Mary Sue? She EARNED her bad-ass skills over a period of about ten years. We saw her suffer, watched her training, learning her lessons, most often the hard way, and never the first time. She failed time and time again, complete with getting her ass severely beaten by Jaqen and the Waif on numerous occasions. She even gets struck blind at one point and is left starving in the gutter. When she kills the Waif in the dark, she had trained in depth to fight blind, so it worked. Granted, there were some scenes that were eye-rollers, like her falling twenty feet onto cobblestones without snapping her ankle, or somehow surviving getting stabbed in the guts half-a-dozen times. However, there was still plenty of fear and tension surrounding the character. And when we see her fighting skills on full display, from duelling with Brienne to slaughtering hordes of the undead, we're enthralled, because she's earned those skills. She's also still vulnerable, as witnessed when she gets her head smashed in during the Battle of Winterfell (thankfully that scene had sufficient lighting!). By contrast, Rey never shows any physical vulnerabilities and is never in danger. Hence, zero tension, and a complete waste of what could have been a great character to carry on the Star Wars legacy.
I mean she had to live alone, as a child, on a desert planet working as a scavenger. She literally had to fight for her life everyday. She was already fairly strong in TFA but she still got rekt when first meeting Kylo, and she won after that both because she finally tapped into her force powers and because Kylo got ass blasted by chewies bowcaster, which we saw blow away a storm trooper not too long ago.
I literally had no idea that Jyn Erso wasnt well liked. Rogue One is easily top 3 for star wars movies for me, and her character and motivations seemed pretty well developed.
I like how the movie is less of a cash grab (unlike the last two sequels) and is more a call back to the Original Trilogy to explain who created the Death Star, how Moth Tarken rose in the ranks by deceit, the origins of the Rogue 2 squadron in episode 5 and why the rebels had the Death Star plans.
My friends and I talk about it all the time but hardly anybody on RUclips talks about how they demoted Fin to a side kick in his own story arc then denied him his redemption.
As someone who did theater for 6 years I can say that in most cases the blame for the portrayal of a character almost always falls on the director/ writer, not the actor
fair point....thats one way to look at it. HOWEVER, i see some actors that take roles that push toxic woke leftism for money i reserve the right to call them corporate shill if not a femtard cuck. they can always read the script and say "this is utter shit...this is sjw cancer not a good movie....screw your money, i want to be taken seriously in sane society".......but they chose to kneel before the cult of wokeness and help poison civilised society with leftist propaganda. the CEO's of big tobbaco companies are "just doing their job"....but are they not immoral and just a plain cancer on society? actors sell a product.....if that product is shit or harmful why not call them out with the director? they chose to do it.
Everyone is like, "Leia was in a skimpy outfit, so that means she's not good enough for us!" These people also forget that she strangled Jabba to death with her own slave bindings.
@@bestboi2945 the video didn't imply that leia wasn't good enough. It implied that people felt that the gold bikini was gratuitous and unnecessary... which it was.
It was necessary, it was against her will. She clearly hates being so revealed infront of all these aliens. Not only that but she is the princess of alderaan is she not? Jabba was flaunting her as a trophy, somthing Jabba does regularly with females. Does nobody get how to create a stroy without spelling everything out every minute? Not only that but its a movie that was released years ago, I think if you have a problem with slave Leia youre just uncomfortable with your own body, sorry not sorry.
I feel like you guys only missed one or two points worth mentioning one being that Leia strangled jabbba with her chains which gives a strong symbol of her strength as both someone thought defenseless as a slave and her presumed weakness as a female. Which in my opinion made her a kickass character and one of my favorites. And Rey to me just hasn't erned her power she just seems like a super hero type character with no real development.
@BTIsaac This is too funny. I love finding your comments everywhere. I'm a die hard star wars fan so now I'm starting to get pissed. First and foremost, rey is not on the same level as luke. They aren't even playing the same game. Luke didn't engage in lightsaber combat until the end of empire. AFTER one full movie of learning his place and one full movie of training under an experienced mentor. Meanwhile, rey was out there performing mind tricks by the third act of her first movie. Also, Luke lost to Vader after two movies. Rey defeated somebody with skywalker blood who was trained by Luke his whole life after her first movie. So to compare the two characters is an absurdly ridiculous argument and one only somebody that doesn't understand star wars would try to make. Next, holdo and rose suck as characters. Rose was a bone that Disney threw to sjws that hate capitalism and hate America. She goes through no character development, no arc, and all of her lines only include putting Finn down or giving a monologue about how society has for change. Her sister who dies at the start of the movie is a more interesting character. For Holdo, the problem is even worst. That bitch is just dumb. She keeps a plan away from one of her best pilots, which causes a mutiny and a side plot that takes up precious screen time and could have been avoided if she just told her men what the plan was. Not to mention she took the role of admiral ackbar who would've been completely embraced by fans. Good thing she died. Third, the original star wars was entirely made by Lucas and is one of the greatest movies of all time. A classic that will stand the tests of time. The last jedi, however, will be forgotten and left to rot like the piece of hot garbage it is. Jar Jar was an annoying character. I don't give a fuck what he was supposed to represent. He was just annoying. John Boyega made a joke on Twitter. That doesn't make him a misogynist. It just makes you a snowflake that cant handle a joke. Like I said in my other comment. You need to learn to live life without looking for the evil in everyone and everything. Maybe you'll find a little more happiness that way.
@@SamPashmi Dude, this guy has been going through the comments of this video just spewing his bullshit everywhere. He doesn't even understand star wars. That's for adding the points about Jyn and Lando!
I think the hate for admiral Holdo isn’t as influenced by the politics as much as it is her refusal to just tell Poe the plan and it resulting in mutiny. We love Poe, we didn’t like him getting stonewalled like this.

@@GoranXII Luke save a princess, blow up Death Star, blow up ATAT walkers, cut of wampa's hand, survive falling after fighting Vader....Rey only beat Kylo Ren and everyone call her a Mary Sue....
@@MizanQistina Rescuing Leia didn't exactly go straightforward, he only blew of the Death Star with the help of Ben's force-ghost, Blowing up the AT-AT was something anyone could have done if they'd had a lightsaber, the only time he used the force against the Wampa was to grab his lightsaber, and as for the fall, well, no explanation there. However, _TESB_ did take place three years after _ANH_, and the Duel with Vader took place after months of trainig with Yoda, so it's not like he went from zero to hero all in one like Rey.
@@GoranXII My point is, Rey don't do anything heroic even she beat Kylo Ren. other characters who done heroic things, it is Finn who become a rescuer, he rescue Poe and then rescue Rey. it is Poe who is an excellent fighter and blow up the base. All these impressive feats done by Luke and Anakin while Rey done nothing other than beating Kylo Ren that don't change anything and don't benefit The Resistance either...so Rey isn't a Mary Sue, in fact both Luke and Anakin are Mary Sues
@@MizanQistina Rey used a mind trick on a stormtrooper to release her. She duel and beat (an admittedly injured) Kylo Ren the first time she used a lightsaber. She flew the Falcon as well as or better than Han, and somehow managed to tear a piece out of the control system with damaging anything _IN FLIGHT_ . And yes, Anakin is a Marty Stu, but he's a prophesied figure, so there's a little more room to move there. Plus we only ever see him flying in the first movie. Also, Luke actually missed his first shot on the exhaust port, and only made the second one because Ben's force ghost was helping him. It's not that Rey was heroic, but that she had abilities she shouldn't have had, abilities Luke didn't show until well into the second movie.
You guys realize that when Leia is placed in a metal bikini she ends the scene by strangling the giant, slug totally not phallic alien with a chain? The villain attempts to humiliate and objectify Leia. The character is undisturbed by this because it is a strong character. Because she is nobility, a leader of the rebellion, a character whose sense of worth is unshaken by her adversary. She is a rebel commander, and heir to a destroyed people... she doesn't snap back with a quirky one liner, or a a line to push a political view point. Leia kills a centuries old galactic monster, and moves on... Because her character has drive , motivation and reason for doing what it does. And Jabba is , in her point of view simply a hurdle she must overcome. It's really annoying to watch these modern creators pat themselves on the back over pushing "Issues". I mean its the 1970s and we literally have a reversal of the damsel in distress, where a princess goes into danger to save the dashing rogue.... This is SCI-FI and Fantasy, they gave us characters like Luthien , Galadriel and Arwen, Eowyn, Ellen ripely, Leia Organa, Bastila Shan, Meetra Surik, Ashley Williams. Sylvanass Windrunner, She-ra , Sarah Connor, Cylon 6, Starbuck(whos a shitty actress :D ) and countless more, strong female characters have been a staple of our medium since its inception, we are used to them, we love them, we dont hate your characters because they are female, we hate your characters because they are bad....... They are preaching equality to a fanbase that is drawn to works that focus on good, unity, strength, honor equality and self sacrifice. They do it because they are oblivious ingrates who think 50 shades of gray and sex and the city are "Empowering Women". But this is what happens when movies and books start being written by people who, lets face it 100 years ago, would have probably been illiterate.
LittleDj123 I was talking about slugs as for the Hutts nal hutta is a swamp planet so I’m sure they are naturally well hydrated and that Jabba, being as powerful as he is, lives in his choice of life style which will meet his health needs nicely
exactly. Vader is someone who killed his own feelings and lost everything while trying to save it but now is a lifeless robot. Kylo Ren on the other hand is a young person who was betrayed by his own uncle and is full of confusion. so the way he played his role makes a lot of sense. if he was just like Vader you guys would hate him
Kylo Ren had so much potential, but the writers and director turned him into a joke. His introduction was cool but later we saw him as this edgy sith throwing a tantrum. I couldn't take him seriously after he lost his first fight with Rey. I understand that he was injured to Chewy's blaster (which decimates anything it hits so how is he even alive in the first place?), but he's been trained for decades by the galaxy's greatest Jedi, and at the time the greatest sith so if he still won that fight it would've made him a fearful character; showing that Rey would have a LONG way to go as she had no lightsaber/jedi training up until that point.
@Blake Pinette except why would admiral Ackbar choose to act like a caricature of Gayle Sweeney from role models (a comedic movie) only more condescending and forced. Honestly she could have said something to Poe that would have just been hinting about them having a plan but being vague enough that a mole wouldn't be able to use the information or stating worry about there being a spy/mole or the ship being bugged. No reason for her to A) not communicate with, and B) belittle and be dismissive towards her highest ranking officer.

@@ZakFromFunkyCryptidProductions Yeah me too Rogue One is the only star wars movie that I can just sit back and enjoy it. because the story is good, it shows you how the rebellion steals the death star plans, it takes place after Revenge Of The Sith and before A New Hope, and they all died for the rebellion in the end. The best part of Rogue One was the ending with Darth Vader slaughtering the rebels it was brutal. Now Jyn Erso which is the main protagonist I honestly don't mind her at all she's alot better than Rey thats for sure
Star Wars angry fanboys. Star Wars did nothing against him except providing him with a shitty script. Blind OT fanboys however couldn't see the diffrence between Anakin Skywalker and Jake Lloyd, so they attacked Lloyd
When talking about the strong female character role, Leia actually wanted to be in an outfit like the bikini because she believed her character “barely seemed female.”
Nope. A Mary Sue doesn't have to struggle to even be able to eat. Rey does. A Mary Sue is automatically liked by EVERYONE she meets. Rey isn't. A Mary Sue doesn't make mistakes. Rey does. A Mary Sue can automatically convince people to do whatever she wants on charisma alone. Rey doesn't. Everybody wants to bang a Mary Sue. Not the case with Rey. A Mary Sue is the smartest person in the galaxy and knows EVERYTHING all the time. Rey isn't and doesn't. @BTIsaac John Boyega has never made any sexist tweets don't misrepresent his character like that. The racists love him now because he doesn't like how the star wars trilogy he was cast in turned and for good reason.
Finn definitely was just support character, no way he ever coulda been a real jedi. That being said. I agree, they coulda done much more with him. He was definitely one of the better actors. Meanwhile Rey was just a joke and sad rip-off shoved in our faces.
You cant blame Hayden Christensen for the portrayal of Anakin, you could give those lines to the best actors in the world and it would have been just as bad.
Hell, in some scenes with Anakin, Portman looks so awkwardly stricken and disgusted, I forgot that from the movies. The Prequel in itself was seriously doing no good to SW.
@@jere8070 Not exactly...but I won't argue that there were still some good works made around the Prequels' timeline and universe. . And I won't also argue there were far, FAR worse works made afterwards.
HerHeartBeats there is definitely parts of the prequels that really messed up but i liked them because they show us the jedi order before their collapse and how Anakin became Vader
“The Prequels are for kids.” Ah yes, a head being cut off, shirtless Anakin, 4 year old kids being murdered, politics, and being burnt alive. Ah yes, my favorite kids show.
"While Leia was the original strong female character, she also had to wear a metal bikini" Carrie Fisher demanded a more sexy outfit because she hated the overly conservative costumes she had to wear. She was originally supposed to wear the bounty hunter's disguise minus the helmet throughout those scenes.
Also she you know, kills one of the big bads in that scene! A more valid criticism would have been her roles of specific importance were scarce as she was (arguably) the least prominent out of the main trilogy. Also female interactions with other female characters didn't really happen in the original trilogy so that could have been improved upon. (Then again Leia and Han were more or less secondary characters so having such constraints does make sense)
That wasn't the point he was making, the point is that modern feminists would likely be offended by the slave Leia attire, so they needed new female characters that are more in line with the way modern feminists view things.
Yeah, maybe. His stubborn interactions with Obi Wan are completely believable (albeit a bit too dramatic for my taste), but at the same time, all his interactions with Padme are just abysmal. Like, I get that an awkward teen is gonna say some dumb things, but the stuff Anakin says is so bad it almost seems satirical
this takes places in a galaxy far far away and a long time ago, so it makes sense that it is a bit shakespearean, but it’s still really uncomfortable to watch anyways. the clone wars improves anakin and padme’s dialogue by a lot
1. Ewoks- I always thought of the Ewoks as mini wookies, somewhat reminiscent of an incident in Ohio where a woman had her face literally ripped off by someone else's pet chimpanzee that got on the loose. Chimps don't look that strong, but their strength is pretty incredible. The Endor battlefield could be a whole other topic of discussion, including the limitations of AT-STs in forested terrain, the insanity of wearing white armor in a green backdrop, breakdown of Imperial discipline in the middle of chaos... 2. Jar Jar- I can see it but honestly I never loved nor hated Jar Jar. He was kind of just there and generated a few chuckles. 4. Anakin- Hayden Christensen actually nailed this role perfectly. Ashamed to say it, but when Attack of the Clones came out, I was pretty awkward at the time and I could see a lot of myself in Anakin in his scenes with Padme. Yes, embarrassing but true. Someone else said it better than me once, "Anakin is a chaste space wizard and you expect him to talk smooth to Padme like he's been seeing a different Twi'Lek every week." Actually, both Anakin & Padme are both pretty odd if you think about it, neither of them have much if any dating history up to that point, Anakin being a religious wizard-monk and Padme is a political science nerd that's buried herself in her career since her early teen years. I mean seriously, how does one pull off being an elected queen at age 14 without some kind of major effort and sacrifice? If either one of them were "normal" it would send the other running. In fact, it's been pointed out that Anakin's anger sends a few red flags and questions as to how Padme missed them. This, I believe answers that, they were both very inexperienced. 7. Kylo Ren- Similar to Hayden Christensen, Adam Driver nailed this one. Psychologically, he's a silver spoon boy with a "school shooter personality" that finds himself playing second banana to Snoke, wanna-be Emperor Palpatine 2.0. I'd say that's pretty realistic. Then again, sometimes that's where characters like Anakin and Kylo have issues, they're too realistic for some and sometimes people want a little more fantasy. 8. Jyn Erso- I don't really understand the hate here. Rogue One I'd say is easily hands down the best Disney made Star Wars movie, there's no pushing of a "female-first" agenda here or anything like that, and it's talked about Jyn's history with Saw's resistance group so it's no surprise when it comes to her abilities. She's a good and believable character that happens to be female. Well written characters stand on their own merits. 9. Holdo- Ugh, where to start. First off, when sexist people say things like "women can't lead", they use people like Admiral Holdo as evidence. Why Rian Johnson gave them this kind of ammunition is beyond me and actually detracts from the very thing they were trying to be in our faces about. Also, yes, her character was very grating and the dialogue between her and Poe was catty, and I found myself rolling my eyes. Drama for drama's sake. She actually came off as such an unlikeable character, I honestly thought she would turn out to be a villain before the end of the movie. She was also a very unnecessary character as Leia or Ackbar could have easily filled the role well but no, we had to have Leia Poppins and Ackbar unceremoniously sucked out into the black void of space, unbeknownst to even the movie editors who are supposed to, oh I don't know, edit the movie. In all, I felt the Last Jedi, even putting the story aside, was a very hastily and sloppily put together film. 10. Rose Tico- Missed opportunities. Nothing against the actress, and I feel I have to stress this due to all the flak she got over it. Her character was very poorly written. Canto Bight only added to the political awkwardness and put her in the center of it. My thought, give her the ability to hack into Snoke's ship, eliminate the Canto Bight side detour altogether and hey, you even portray a woman with STEM talents while you're at it without really even trying. Even better, you give her some depth and something to bring to the table rather than Finn's tag along. As The Last Jedi stands, her character didn't really contribute much when she had a lot of potential.

The similarities between Luke and Rey are superficial. The differences are quite clear:
In Ep IV Luke is introduced to something totally new and for most of the movie, he is carried by other characters.

@@jasonbowman9521 Okay, but what does that have to do with Leia strangling Jabba?

That’s so different how generation has changed. When I saw the prequels when it was screened lots criticized Anakin being too flawed, whiny, and wanted a heroic character at first. Now for Rey in this generation Lots found ones who never lose boring.

True.
Veritech Girl yeah Jyn was great she had a great arc and the movie was great overall
Because she wasn't forced like Rey was she didn't defeat Vader like he's some child like how Rey beat kylo

Lol perfectly? No, his line delivery was stiff, bordering on emotionless.

This is off topic but you just made a full article lol
"No training" ignoring the 15+ years of training......

I don't remember a backlash to her either, I feel she was chosen for this video because they wanted a list of 10 instead of 9

As someone who did theater for 6 years I can say that in most cases the blame for the portrayal of a character almost always falls on the director/ writer, not the actor
if you people dont like the characters thats normal, but dont go after the actors. Its not their fault, they are just doing their job 🤷🏽♂️
fair point....thats one way to look at it.

@@MizanQistina Rey used a mind trick on a stormtrooper to release her. She duel and beat (an admittedly injured) Kylo Ren the first time she used a lightsaber.

Fair enough, but the lines are still unwatchable (almost)
Yeah, maybe. His stubborn interactions with Obi Wan are completely believable (albeit a bit too dramatic for my taste), but at the same time, all his interactions with Padme are just abysmal. Like, I get that an awkward teen is gonna say some dumb things, but the stuff Anakin says is so bad it almost seems satirical
Gaz 84 his mother was murdered, how’d you expect him to react?
this takes places in a galaxy far far away and a long time ago, so it makes sense that it is a bit shakespearean, but it’s still really uncomfortable to watch anyways. the clone wars improves anakin and padme’s dialogue by a lot
Gaz 84 no one cares about your irrelevant ass opinion
