Notice how the Chinese military ad didn't put a lot of focus on one soldier? They focus on duty, sacrifice for "your" country--not "yourself" or "your" adventure. Even the Russian military ad is saying that "you are not yourself in the military". What did the U.S. do? "I'm a girl with two moms."
Actually, Russian ad says that your worst enemy is yourself, old unmotivated you, so join, find your limits, break your limits and become better.

I sincerely feel sorry for ordinary Americans, who are conservative like us Russians, support traditional family and Christian values, who are not related to these liberal values, but are forced to live in the midst of all this, like Lot in Sodom. За нарушение строгое наказание: если обойти запрет, курсанта могут отчислить, срочника отправить под дисциплинарный арест, офицера лишить звания, а контрактника уволить. Можно рассказывать о личном и выкладывать в соц. сети что-то, не связанное со служебными обязанностями и действиями армии, но только после увольнения из армии. И только если это не гостайна.

I see a lot of people chiming in for the Russian ad, here's some context for the Chinese one:
We start with the a various guys reporting for duty, they shout "到" which is like "present!" or "reporting for duty!" It starts with one guy who's just arrived for his first day, then to an active duty guy, then to a classroom of guys, then more and more different PLA personnel in different roles, also reporting to duty. The narration is saying that when you report for duty in the PLA, it is a promise and a sacrifice to carry the hope of the people on your shoulders.
The ad chooses to show off the space program prior to the firepower montage, and that's meant to be a visual cue of "we would like peace, but we will go to war if our red line is crossed.“
After the montage, it's a series of wordplay - we use our life to carry our duty (but both "life" and "duty" share a character, so we get verbal parallelism), we use our loyalty to build our new Great Wall.
Next is Xi Jinping speaking on the importance of continuous improvement and innovation, which IMO kind of breaks the flow of the ad.
Finally it ends with a callback to the beginning, when the country calls, I will definitely report for duty. It ends with another bit of wordplay that unfortunately does not translate very well, but the overall gist is that once you shout "到” in service to your country for that first time, you will always be the kind of person who will serve their country in its time of need.
So basically, the Chinese ad is about how military service is a calling for those who wish to serve their country, and it communicates this far more effectively than the US Army ad which is literally titled "The Calling".

This never made it into public distribution because the responses among Americans to it was so criticized that that commercial was killed and buried. The US Army ad was never televised

My opnion is, this is not really an ad for recruits but an ad for veterans and the military reform in PLA.

When I joined the US military in 2005, it was a whole lot different military. We went to kick ass, seek the adrenaline, the alternative rock was playing quite often in our boot camp dorms; when Down with the Sickness came on the playlist, everyone dropped pushing, the entire song. We had devil's face painted on a wall, every time we left our dorm we tapped the writing over our head: "Failure is not an option". And it was totally ok being macho and say f*dup shit in front of everyone, even our females encouraged this behavior ;)
I would be scared for my life being in the military now, not the enemy fire or IED, but the woke UCMJ bullshit you will have to deal with and walk on eggshells every day

Дело не в девочках с косичками. Больше скажу у нас в годы ВОВ представляли "девочки с косичками", некоторых девочек европейские варвары обозвали "ночными ведьмами". Они на устаревших самолетах "кукурузник" отключая двигатели для бесшумного полета уходили сбрасывали бомбы во время ночных ударов. Эти самолеты были из парусины и фанеры простреливались вообще всем оружием. Эти девочки с косичками наносили реальный ущерб и были ночным страхом нацистов.
Были девочки с косичками по типу Зои Космодемьянской, которая была бойцом диверсионного отряда. Эти девочки уходили в тыл, жги нацистов, подрывали эшелоны с европейскими солдатами и многое другое.
Девочки с косичками весом 45-50кг вытаскивали на себе раненых мужчин 80 и 90кг весом под обстрелом врага. Я как служивший в армии Федерации скажу больше, есть и сейчас девочки с косичками (дело ведь не в прическе верно?), которые служат в армии и их уважают. Но они не бегали на парады геев "бороться" за глупости у них нет "мам лесбиянок", кстати про отца она вообще ничего не сказала. Её маме ветром надуло? Или она плохая дочь, которая презирает отца?
Армию вполне можно показать и девочками, но достойными, а не такой швалью!

When we all got off the bus, we were all equal... We were all equally nothing until the drill sgts told us were were something. They are training soldiers. Our old ads were more like Russia and China. Pride in country, strength, team work. My son just left for basic. I've been out since 05. I can only imagine what his training will be like compared to mine 😒

Нам было 14-17 лет, парни разного возраста. Бойцы спецназа были от 20 до 27 лет. Мы даже работали на тренировках в парах с бойцами спецназа. Понятно в тренировочном спарринге, когда разница 20-30кг веса могут даже убить. Спецназ и учили убивать. Только не было глупой жестокости. Тебе могли разбить лицо, разбить губы и нос в кровь. Редко случались переломы. Но никто не стал бы тебя убивать.
Хотя наша подготовка ребят 14-17 лет сильно уступала бойцам спецназа полиции. Разница веса при рукопашном боев в 20-30 килограмм смертельна. Но нас жалели, тренировали и готовили. Никто не ставил задачей искалечить или убить. Ложная политическая корректность глупа. Безумная жестокость тоже. Все должно быть взвешено.

You could have had your face smashed, your lips and nose bled. Fractures rarely occurred. But no one would kill you.
