Step 3: by doing what? Step 4: What is the path of the folder? Step 5: How do we know what file formats we have to choose from and how do we know which one to use? It would be much easier to understand you if you would punctuate your sentences (Capital letter to start a new sentence, period to end a sentence, comma to show a pause, etc.).

Just a note of interest; changing the name of the file does not always change the format. I noticed this while experimenting with changing an har (html archive) to an mp4 (video). Where format is critical, this method will not work. Thank you for the opportunity to comment.

This nonsense. It just renames. If you move the file to say to your phone or mail, and then try to open it, it won't work.The people who thinks it is working are opening under the same windows environment.
LMFAO LOL! Renaming a file does not change the metadata inside the file. For that you would need a conversion app. Renaming files merely changes the extensions of files - in this demo. Go ahead and rename that #.txt into *.mp3 and try to play it on your mp3 player - LOL!

you can prees right click on the folder with the same time press shift and then cluck oped cmd; it will save you time

yeah but it does work for some compatible file types like flv and mp4 dude
but does it actually change the file? mp4 is a lossy file type while others may be a lossless file type.
EXTREMELY HELPFUL!!! Changed an accidental conversion of an .mp4 to an .o file and back to .mp4...and IT WORKED!

all step is same but in the line you write rename *.* *. you should use file extension you want
it worked with .mp4 to .mp3, for .ete file to .pdf it's not working.. although it's converting the file but that's in damaged or corrupted form
