Sharing the sewing class from the Virtual Doll Convention Better Together Pop-Up Event that happened this weekend. The VDC released a new friend for Ellowyne named Neema. She is gorgeous.

ADORABLE! as always. I'd never seen before the way to sew a shirred waist.💜

Thank you! 😊 It is so much easier than I thought it would be.

I really enjoyed the dress details in this tutorial. I noticed you use a vintage Pfaff machine. My parents gave me a Pfaff 1212 back in 1974 as a wedding gift. I then made my wedding dress & 3 bridesmaids dresses on it! My father told me he had learned his trade as a machinist in the Pfaff factory in Germany, which is why they chose that brand. I always loved knowing that fact. It served me well until 2021 when it finally refused to be repaired. It had become a real friend and parting was such sweet sorrow!

I completely understand. I bought a Pfaff 620 recently in case my old machine dies. I have used it some, but prefer the weight and feel of the older ones.

I love the shearing. Never knew it was that simple of a process. It looks so complicated and fancy. Beautiful job! Does this pattern come in the Tonner Tyler/Sydney size?

Gorgeous dress and perfect accessories. This has given me confidence to try shirring again. I actually thought the elastic went on the bobbin and top thread lol. No wonder I have never managed. Excellent job, well done 💞

The dress was fun to create. You should give shirring a try again.

This is a really cute dress..looking forward to more cute clothes for the dolls. I have the big Kitty Collier and an American model to sew for now too. Watching you sew the outfit makes me want to make one also. Stay well and safe. From Tennessee

Very cute dress and I like the top on Ello, too. But I don't understand why you make the bottom of the bodice a separate piece. If you are just going to sew a straight piece to the straight bodice, why not just cut the bodice longer and save a seam and some time? Have a great day!

That is a good point. The design could be put together that way as well.

Tamara, thank you for your informative tutorials. I was wondering where you got your tailor hams for your dolly clothes, did you make or buy them?

    • @DesignsbyJude
      @DesignsbyJude  2 года назад

The hams were a gift from my mom. She sells a pattern to make them on Etsy. I use them every time I sew.

What a pretty dress. Does Neema share the same face sculpt as Ellowyne?

Thank you. Neema has her own sculpt, but shares the same body as Ellowyne.

Looking for someone to make a mock up for a medical device for brain damaged kids. It would be a slipcover for the tool with fun pattern so kids get to pick the cover. Any suggestions.?

Tamara, Caught your class on Saturday at VDC. I have been avoiding shirred patterns because of the bobbin loading. I checked out HomeSew for elastic thread; where did you buy yours? It did not look the same and I also checked Amazon. Thank in advance.

Here is a link to the elastic thread I bought for the project amzn.to/3TpEN2t. Shirring is amazingly easy. I love how the dress looks on Neema.

@@DesignsbyJude Thanks for replying so promptly. I ordered it just now. I like that you get black & white elastic thread.

I have been sewing this several times in all versions, but the shirring part makes me despair. I follow all the instructions, but never do I get it before the sixth try.... I sew on a brand newJanome with horizontal CB bobbin underneath the sewing plate. Which means I cannot work with a capsules like you do. The bobbin sits very lightly in its place and seems to lose the right tension as soon as it is placed. Once I take up the elastic from the bobbin to sew, it is already to lose to shirr. I have to take it out, thread it anew, put it back in, try again. If I am lucky, I can shirr at some point, or I cannot. What to be done????

I'm sorry you are having trouble with the shirring. Each sewing machine is so different. You may find information on another RUclips video that addresses the issues you are having. I hope you get it sorted.

@@DesignsbyJude I did and found a video showing the threading of a CB bobbin. Seems like I did some little detail wrong. Hope it works out now. Thanks!
