wow just read up on the subject, pretty interesting. thanks for sharing :) Honestly in some periods i always had a few during gigs and rehearsals. when i toned down the drinking, playing live wasn’t the same. This just gave me a reason to be more vigilant of some less positive habits going forward.
Riff Master82 I used to not be able to play after taking 3 marijuanas. I could play completely sober but then I would shoot up 1 marijuana and not know what an E chord was.... Now I can vape a kilo of cannajuana and ... i still suck
Love the cut at 3:10 after he said "after it's been autotuned so the world can tolerate it". I can so see Glen verbally ripping him a new one and they had to cut it out so RUclips won't kick the video out for swearing and profanity.
Having worked in video production for a decade I can honestly say bassists are the most punctual, down to earth, pleasant, courteous, professional, hard working and enthusiastic people I get to work with on a regular basis. A real joy. Unfortunately I always have to edit them out because I make corporate training and motivational videos mostly for international clients in the carpet and upholstery industry. The music production facility is next door.
Better have the diva hair as well. But seriously, Flowing gown, wheat field at sunset, crane shot over the shoulder, person turn around and it's a metal dude would be a great way to open a video that basically does all the Diva cliches (fan in the face would be another one). Sit through all the videos by Whitney Houston, Tina Turner, Cher, Bonnie Tyler, Kim Wilde and Celine Dion. Then pick your shots (I'd also take a good lokk at Roxettes "Spending my time" and potentially "Fading like a Flower" and "It must have been love"). I'd want to watch that.

This "Dont bring your girlfriend" etc is just common sense, you just dont bring your girlfriend to work, you also dont drink on the job, also common sense.
Stefan Sjöberg you guys are priceless. 90% of you will never even play and out of town show. It’s funny to see you jump all over this “He Man Woman Hates Club” shit. Glenn, I have pointed dozens of young musicians to your channel, and this video is just another demonstration of why I think your advice is so helpful. You've been at it for a few years now, and the videos just keep getting better. Congratulations, and keep up the good work.
Late comment. But for one video I shot had a scene with a girl slapping me. It was a real slap and we did 13 takes before I decided the director was enjoying it a little to much. My face looked like I spent a week chewing a beehive........ Then it wasn't even in the first cut.
"don't bring your girlfriend" really agree with you guys! UNLESS your girlfriend could work and help as part of production team. I've worked with a case where all the production team are male and don't know with art direction (make up to strengthen the MV story, even they can't dress properly). Somehow having woman who can work (in this case, girlfriend) really helped. But still, it's ALMOST never happen unfortunately~
It only applies to situations where a band member(s) has to be around or involved with actors/models of the opposite sex. My wife for example produces and is my best ally on set - so SOME people can handle things without jealousy... but generally speaking a BF or GF thrust into a music video position standing on the sidelines watch it happen isn't in a place psychologically to handle it. It isn't normal stuff for a relationship!
I thin it matters how the two of you met, though. If you hooked up because you're both in the music and entertainment biz, then there's a much better chance she'll understand that you have to do what you have to do. If so, remember that works both ways when she has to do what she has to do.
Let me guess..the band who claimed the shoot was "legally" theirs, refusing to pay and drunk texting your wife must have been a collab with Trapt and Lil Wayne
I've been a main actor and extra in a few music videos before and I have to disagree with the idea that only the director can dictate what happens on set. In every music video I've been in, I have contributed ideas to the director that we've filmed and ended up in the final cut. I think any good director is open to suggestions but that doesn't necessarily mean that every suggestion will make the final cut.
Always open to suggestions and yes it is collaborative and yes ideas come from any cast and crew member, however, let the director steer the ship. This is in reference to folks that hire a director and don't listen to them.
Lol the girlfriend tip also applies to Band practice, writting sessions, even venue scouting, and the list goes on!!! Make them understand that this is a career you are trying to get off the ground and not anyone's personal party band!! love the video keep them coming brother!!
Please forgive the length of this comment but I want to give you a little insight before I get to my question. I'm 27 years old and have played heavier music most of my life. I started to have interest in the producing/mixing/mastering side of things around the time of the Andy Sneap forums but wasnt able to get ahold of gear since I was younger and grew up poor in Detroit. But I still followed and read the threads and kept in mind everything once I was able to obtain the gear. Now Ive been working in various DAWs and have a couple different rigs over the span of 7-8 years. And I still refer to things you guys said in those threads to this day when cutting demos. So thank you. Anyways, my parents had me young and I was raised on all types of music but primarily 60s-80s metal. I was so excited to hear Andy Sneap was doing the new Judas Priest album. Now that it's released, I'm just completely blown away and quite possibly could be my favorite Priest album which is obviously is a very bold statement. I asked my mom what she thought of the new record since she has that older perspective of being a fan of Priest in the early days. Surprisingly she feels the same as me. So with that being said, I'm very curious on your thoughts of the new Priest record? Cheers from Detroit. - James P.S. shoot me a message on RUclips
250k subs! I started watching your videos back in October 2014 and I was a huge fan of the vertical video episode and the mic-cupping episode. They got me hooked on the channel and your personality. Bring on 500k!
My band is starting to record songs for a demo. The “leader” of the band has older recording hardware with limited capability. No DAW. Songs have a hiss and don’t sound as good as they could. I use Adobe Audition and some recording experience but not allowed to contribute to the recordings (besides playing guitar). AA alone could get rid of the hiss and double tracks for instant improvement. This is very annoying and I’ve been letting it play out. Any suggestions? Besides finding a new band
I actually will take a lot of advice from this video! I currently have my own video business (Freedom Films PA) that does only music videos, lyric and audio videos. I just filmed our first music video last month, before I even agree to do the video I have the band and the members sign my companies contract. One of the terms and agreements is that if you don't want to work with us anymore all videos taken is our property and by signing the contract you will not get the videos back. Also on my contract it says how much money is to be paid, long story short no payment no video (you can thank my film program about that). Also with the first music video, the band screams (no they don't cup the mic, I yelled at them about that) when the singer went to do his screaming parts it didn't look realistic. I told him to put passion into it really get into it, so we did another take and the difference was amazing, it looks so realistic now! Now when I am talking to bands that never did music videos I am deff. showing this to them!
Hey Glenn, I've started playing guitar because I want to be part of a band some day. However, I quickly realized that guitar players with far more practice than me are everywhere. Should I just work extra hard on guitar to try and get ahead, or should I try a different instrument?
I see people with this same sort of thought pattern all the time. Play the instrument that you are drawn to the most. It doesn't matter if there are better guitarists than you at the moment, because they all started out as beginners at one stage, and secondly, no matter how much you play there will always be someone who can do something you can't. What ever instrument you do play you just need to be passionate about and give it your all. Playing any instrument half assed wont get you in a band, so if guitar is what you love then stay with it.
I think all the tracks off of Save Rock and Roll by Fall Out Boy are great examples of music videos. Every single track got a video, and it all connects together and tells a cohesive story. Its pretty cool.
That whole point about letting the director do his job sounds nice on paper until you remember that the director only sees it as a job and probably has no actual love for the song or its lyrics Following this point wholeheartedly is how you get music videos that have nothing to do with the song, like the music video for Addicted to Pain by Alter Bridge, a song clearly about someone who throws themselves into bad relationships over and over. The "director" thought it was a good idea to fill it with stock footage of daredevils, circus performers and stuntmen doing stupid and/or painful things throughout history
Valid points! Letting the director direct must be the hardest thing for musicians to do with all the egos. Making sure the musicians don't try to act is good too. UNLESS you're David Lee Roth. Watch the A Little Ain't Enough video. He's the man. Don't bring your girlfriends. Ever! Always a bad idea, gentleman! To the studio, to practice, or to the set!
Oh my god. I used to work on shoots and just about everyone we worked with would bring their S.O.'s. Worst offender was working with a director who would put his girlfriend in things so they could be together during the day even though she had like no talent so it was just painful watching him make kissy and flirty faces while also trying to get her do a usable take. Ugh.
80's story: cooking at the Pomeroy house restaurant on sweltering hot summer days, the kitchen got so hot, we filled a sink with ice and water and would take breaks to do a "Huey Lewis" for a minute to cool off. (You have to know THAT video haha)
Hey Glenn, in a weird position looking for advice. I'm a recording student trying to build a reputation and stick out from my peers, and do a lot of recordings for free or for a grade over money. So I recorded my friends band who's also an engineer, came in with a plan, set up drum mics while he was busy, and then he redoes my drum mics and takes over the session, ignoring my plan. Later on, I found out he's been telling local artists and engineers my tracks I sent him were out of phase, and he claims I was disorganized when he took over the session and redid the mics on the drums. What would you do in this situation?
Checked out his reel, it's all pop music videos! But there's some cool ideas, so maybe it could work for gothic metal; who knows. Maybe if I get a record deal or win the lottery I'll hire him.
Hi Glenn, new to the channel, love all your content. Have you ever had to deal with carpal tunnel or similar symptoms related to carpal tunnel in the past? I have some numbness and slight pain in my right thumb and index finger, I'm right handed. I work making donuts full time and play guitar. I've been doing stretches, muscle massages, taking B6, B12 and omega 3s. It may not even be carpal tunnel but hopefully I'm on the road to recovery!
There was a local band that show a video but left filming the guitar solo for last, then didn't have time to film it so during the guitar solo they mostly showed the drummer from the back. That's a fun one. It was even shot in a shitty warehouse.
I loved what Violence did with World in a World video...they put a camera on a kid and let him run loose in the mosh pit. I know it wasn't original think i saw somebody else do that, but was freaking hilarious to watch the video and and try and catch a glimpse of the kid with camera on his head!
Honestly, one of my favorite videos I've seen recently was Bobaflex's cover of "Hey You"... it was a ballsy nod to Live at Pompeii and they knocked it out of the ballpark.
Hey Glenn. I'm planning on filming a music video in a couple of weeks. We don't really have huge "music-video material" gear. Would it be okay to film without amps and mics or will we look stupid? Would it be better to rent the big gears or..? Thanks in advance, cheers from Montreal 🍻
Though I will never be the drummer I once used to be (Actually practiced and shit), with you, I am now wiser than when I started. I can't thank you enough for handing out so many good advises.
Hey glen. What guitar Cab do you use. I'm looking for new gear for recording heavier music. Also. What are some good amps. My guitars are great but my amps suck ass.
I remember a case many years ago when the drummer of this band brought his girlfriend, but she was actually very knowledgeable on the art side of things and made pretty nice suggestions and was useful when picking wardrobe as well, she was also a tolerable actress and appeared on the video when they needed an extra girl in one part. She was indeed useful there. A BIG exception to the rule, though, probably your girlfriend won't be useful at all.
Hey Glen, do you ever have instances where a band (or band member) writes a part, that's too hard for them to perform? I know on occasion I write some crazy solo that I have to do more than several takes on in the studio, and often time I get stumped on a part, even though I've practiced months and months before going into the studio. What would you do help someone get of their own head in a situation like that?
That has been a problem, especially when the band gets music handed to them by a label. The Beach Boys are an example of a real band that has session musicians, called the Wrecking Crew, perform on the album while the band members spent time learning their parts for the live shows. Kiss used session musicians, I believe Guns and Roses used session musicians, the Beatles used session musicians...
Hey Glenn, I am studing the piano and keyboards, so I am more a musician than a producer. I am not looking to become a producer, but still, I want to record some stuff (I also play a bit of guitar and bass and a little bit of drums) to write my new music. At home, I have a Sennheiser Xenix 1204 that I can process into my computer to record. Do I still need an audio interface or is the only thing an audio interface does to bring your sound into a computer and bring it out again to the monitors? I just came to your chanell soooo I don‘t know what I really need to make a nice record to send my bandmates so they know what they could play.
Ssay, Glenn and friend, speaking of music vijeos, is there any sort of online resource that lists all the peoples involved in making them, directors, editors, backup singars, dancers, lighting, and of course audio techs? Essentially an IMDB, but for music vids only instead of movie/film?
Hey Glen, awesome video as always, but maybe make the www.gavinmichaelbooth.com link in your description clickable so it's easier for people to go there.
Thanks for this. Great list. 12-15 yrs ago I worked on a lot of music video shoots around L.A. and luckily didn't have any horrible experiences with douchey bands except for one. The video contained floozies and that fact very obviously made the band feel extra cool, like they were reliving the 80's or something. The band had this high and mighty air about themselves, not gracious at all, and they weren't young. They brought a bunch of alcohol and were throwing beer and beer cans around in this nice set, just acting like disrespectful jerks, thinking they were the biggest rock stars or something (they weren't). During the shoot all I could think was, "This song fucking suuuuuucks!" Hence me moving on to do my own videos for music I actually think is good and for bands who don't act like creeps.
Glen, love your shit. I know you mentioned this before but can you please do a video on setting up a windows PC for recording with Reaper? I use my PC for recording + everything else, and it could definitely work better once i get a bunch of tracks together with fx busses and stuff. It gets choppy with lots of tracks with fx. I guess what im wondering is if your recording PC is really THAT much better than mine, or its just set up way better.
don't get drunk, trust your director, learn how to perform on camera, don't bring your significant other, PAY for your project and work within your budget, Great advice! Thank you so much!
BASSIST STORY! So, our ex-bassist apparently has to go to work right a our band practice starts. So, we moved our band practice to Saturday at noon, at his suggestion. Friday night comes, our drummer is saying he can't finish the song we were learning, so we said we'll pick something a bit easier. Then our bassist butts in and says yeah let's do something more complicated, and suggests a 9 minute prog song... Saturday at noon rolls around, he hasnt shown up, as I'm packing to leave i get a text from him saying he just woke up. he's no longer included in any band communications.
Watch Megadeth’s video “no more mr nice guy”. You won’t see Dave Mustaine play guitar and sing at the same time... coz he was so wasted he could only do one at a time :)
Hi Glenn. How's it going mate? I really like your channel, and I just wanted to ask you some advice. I'm a bass player (I know, but I take it all with a pinch of salt and I think you're quite funny) and a guitar player. I like metal, but I prefer to play other types of music such as Indie and Classic Rock. Getting to the point (sorry), basically I want to start writing songs, but I don't really have anyone to play with. U ghave written guitar licks, bass lines and lyrics but I am having trouble geling them together. SHould I carry on writing music? And also do you think I should try and join a band or try to write on my own, like Dave Grohl, off the top of my head. Thanks again, love the videos, and other bass players, CALM DOWN. Don't take it so seriously, and prove Glenn wrong!! Hahaha
Hey big fan of your channel. I’ve been playing guitar for a while and I’m ready to upgrade from all my beginner equipment (guitar and amp) and I just wanna know some good amp brands
On average, how much should you be prepared to pay for hiring a director? And should the director provide any other staff and equipment needed? Or would I have to put in the leg work finding competent people who can run cameras and have professional equipment too? Overall what is a good budget to have in mind, and what would be red flags to look for when discussing the budget and the ideas with a potential director?
Hey Glenn! I’ve been meaning to ask you about staying entertaining as a front man who plays an instrument. I’m the singer but also the bassist which means I can’t ever really grab the mic-stand and move around. Any tips?
Work on what you have available. Your eyes and your facial expressions. Have an intense facial expression and look people straight in the eye while you sing. Pick a person to look at and change person every few seconds. Nothing more boring than a frontman who looks out over the crowd the whole time.
Samuel Feinstein yeah you can smile and loosen up and look at the crowd, introduce your band mates one at a time, headbang, when you scream do that angry but sad looking face that every singer does, point at the crowd like a true rock god, grow your hair long and whiplash it, rock with your lead foot like tap with it and hunch over looking as if your rocking out, spit as much spit as you want when your playing a tight groove, throw the \M/ sign, play a new technique that youve mastered, start jumping to create a mosh pit, start clapping for the crowd so that they create the tempo, tell a joke but dont over do it, say the bands name in the intro and when you end your setlist, and finally just thank the people for attending. Hope this helps
My Question is when you have spent money on a professional music video... What do you do with it? MTV is long gone and Apple is getting rid of Itunes.. and there are no real avenues left as to which to recoup your music video investment... why would i pay thousands of dollars for a music video that is just going to end up on facebook and youtube and every social media site that is free to market and advertise anyway... please correct me if i am wrong..
yeah, it's a LOLfest. "Someone always playing...corporation games. Who cares they're always changing...corporation names." Brought to you by the people who sued one another and finally agreed that only the unanimous agreement of all the members of "Jefferson Starship Inc." could allow the use of the name "Jefferson Starship". I don't know if the lyrics were meant as a self-deprecating jab, but it certainly feels like they're going for unironic earnestness in the video.
I need to check these out! Best music vid for me is Chthonic's Defenders of Bu Tik Palace acoustic version. I just need it to be a feature length film.
Hi, I'm purchasing the Joyo Bantamp VIVO model, and I'm wondering, can I plug the amp directly into an interface and use IRs on my pc? The phones output has a cabsim on it's own which doesn't sound really good, will the tube explode or somethin without a torpedo cab sim or what?
I think the worse thing you could do is use samples for all your instruments like so many rap and pop artists do today and defend so much. I had someone try to tell me sampling is an art form and that playing an instrument actually doesn't compare to their samples. I simply quoted a line from your show. "The fans deserve better".
Hey Glenn I have a drum miking question. I remember this show I went to last year where the overheads were miked from underneath. So basically the mics were placed pointing upwards to capture the cymbals from underneath and all the other drums would be captured from the close mics. The drum kit wasn't all that big from what I can remember I think the drummer had a couple crashes and one ride. The stage and venue was pretty small and was able to just fit the drummer, two guitarists, bassist, and singer but still had some room to move around and interact with the audience. Is there any reason to mic the overheads from underneath? They were an emo band but had some hard rock elements to them so maybe it was placed liked that to get a certain sound. I'd liked to know what you think if it, maybe you can try this mic placement for a future video.
Im looking for an opinion from someone whos played guitar for awhile. Ive been playing guitar for almost 6 years now, three of those exclusively electric, and Im about to get my first "real" guitar. Im torn about either building a pedal board with the amp I have now, VOX vt40+, or getting a new separate tube amp head and cabinet. Which do you think would help me more?
Mr. Stratocaster Thanks for the reply man, really appreciate it. I do intend to play live, talking small to mid sized venues at the moment, but hopefully it evolves. I also would like to record though my computer and create some stuff as well, but Im just concerned that the dirt channel might be a bit too muddy for my taste. I mostly play hard rock/prog metal, my fav band being Dream Theater, and I want to create that kind of music. The reason I was interested in a separate head/cab combo was because I know it helps to clean the sound up through a dedicated speaker, instead of a shared head/speaker. I wouldnt need like an outrageous amount of watts, maybe a max of 50, my budget is around 1000 for head and cab total. Do you think itd be better to take the chance and build a board and wait on the amp? Thank you!
Tip #6 hire an actor to play bass.
midi
Well it worked for Spinal Tap...
theyd probably play better than your bassist
Have done this.
XD jajaajajaja csm
The key to playing well drunk is practicing drunk.
Riff Master82 😂😂😂😂😂
Word! 😂😂😂
This is psychologically legit. It's called "state dependant retrieval" and it's based on the Hebbian learning model.
wow just read up on the subject, pretty interesting. thanks for sharing :)

For some reason i thought this was going to be from a filmmaking point of view

I also thought so. But this was as stupid as it gets, unfortunately.
Rudy thought his credentials fit this topic well. Which they do.
Wow bro
5 Things that will RUIN your MUSIC VIDEO:
You and your band mates.
That's why I let Steven Spielberg direct my videos, but sometimes it gets annoying with the dinosaurs and stuff
One time I let Michael Bay direct my music video.
The sexy girls were a plus, but then everyone exploded.
Yeha we let Quentin Tarantino direct one of our video's once - sure we had a no1 hit, but it cost me a fucking ear ):
We once hired Alan Smithee to direct our video but we never heard from him after.
Love the cut at 3:10 after he said "after it's been autotuned so the world can tolerate it".
I can so see Glen verbally ripping him a new one and they had to cut it out so RUclips won't kick the video out for swearing and profanity.
He’s pretty clearly being sarcastic
Ha, that's exactly what I thought - Glenn instinctively just punched him in the face and they had to set up again
just my advice here. actually sing, don't just pretend to. it looks fake and it's a bit off putting
Having worked in video production for a decade I can honestly say bassists are the most punctual, down to earth, pleasant, courteous, professional, hard working and enthusiastic people I get to work with on a regular basis. A real joy.

#1 Forgetting to bring cameras
More likely forgot the memory cards ! Yup that old chestnut :)
I forgot a tape for the camera once... and only once... but it was the 90's and I was in high school.
Nice pic mate, Koror 2 is still one of my fav games!
A Cat same
One of the coolest guests you've ever had on the show! Cheers!
We did 37 takes of our first video. I limped for a week.
Steve Frank I heard gay porn is brutal
Made my fucking day, cheers dude !
haha that's what I was gonna say bwahahaha
This "Dont bring your girlfriend" etc is just common sense, you just dont bring your girlfriend to work, you also dont drink on the job, also common sense.
There are a high number of humans on this planet that cant even concieve the idea of sarcasm let alone common sense

I've dated a few women that were makeup artists, so yeah, that is definitely one of the perfectly fine reasons to have them on set.

P.S. shoot me a message on RUclips
250k subs!
I started watching your videos back in October 2014 and I was a huge fan of the vertical video episode and the mic-cupping episode. They got me hooked on the channel and your personality.
Bring on 500k!
"It's been autotuned,so the world can tolerate it."
Thx for that 😂😂😂😂😂
250! Congrats
More of these videos with Gavin and you please!
Oh yeah, OK Go is fucking AMAZING when it comes to music videos. I could watch that all day even though the music is just OK (no pun intended).
Thanks for all of your vids!!! First two recordings ever! I love watching and learning from you. \m/
Hey Glen, still happy with the Stam Audio SA-2A? I am looking into getting one.
That whole point about letting the director do his job sounds nice on paper until you remember that the director only sees it as a job and probably has no actual love for the song or its lyrics
Following this point wholeheartedly is how you get music videos that have nothing to do with the song, like the music video for Addicted to Pain by Alter Bridge, a song clearly about someone who throws themselves into bad relationships over and over. The "director" thought it was a good idea to fill it with stock footage of daredevils, circus performers and stuntmen doing stupid and/or painful things throughout history
Great advice!
Great video!
Gavin seems like a really cool dude.
Thank you for posting this video... I definitely learned a lot.
Nice! People really need to watch this! cheers for a new content outside the usual :)
12ealDeal No problem. I don't have a girlfriend.
just a gigolo is one of my favorite videos, speaking of DLR acting. Some rock stars are just all-around stars
Just don’t have a girlfriend, period
Oh my god. I used to work on shoots and just about everyone we worked with would bring their S.O.'s. Worst offender was working with a director who would put his girlfriend in things so they could be together during the day even though she had like no talent so it was just painful watching him make kissy and flirty faces while also trying to get her do a usable take. Ugh.
+1 for OK-Go mention. They make the absolutely best videos.
Glenn, your videos just keep getting better. I really enjoyed this one.
A tip for making low budget music videos, if you need somebody to film the video you can use your bass player.
Yo. Thank you, and thank you Gavin. Thank you for being real, being generous, and for perpetuating goodness. Aloha, from Hawai’i.
Actually shooting my first music video on Friday so good timing on the upload :)
God speed.
Glen, were you using some of that substance? Because 'preforming' the camera is a new trick to me. Awesome video man :-D
"You don't have to have money to make a great music video"
Meshuggah - New Millenium Cyanide Christ
That video is fucking amazing!
@@neckcheese1356 And all they needed were sunglasses, a red pen and probably a potato for shooting the video
The "Won't Make it Out Alive" video was outstanding!
Fun fact: Actually got that in a single take, only did it once and the entire shoot was 2 hours and wrapped.
That is a fun fact, but I'm sure that happens ALLLLL the time. Lol.
Preform... and I'm a bass player! Love ya Glenn!
PUT THE HARD DRIVE SMASHING FOOTAGE UP ON RUclips
Give me five bucks first.
Awesome Info! Thanks Glen 🤘
Awesome channel Glenn, I love it! How do you hide your gray hairs? Asking for a friend! :)
Good advice! My friends need this, they are too afraid to sing, make faces and generally get into it. They play magnificently but yea haga
There is an IMVDB - just not nearly as updated as IMDB is as it still isn't that widely know.
I guess what im wondering is if your recording PC is really THAT much better than mine, or its just set up way better.
don't get drunk,
trust your director,
learn how to perform on camera,
don't bring your significant other,
PAY for your project and work within your budget,
Great advice!
Were the two d-bags jumping around @ 4:44 an example of how "not" to do it?
Any tips?
Samuel Feinstein grab the mic during a bass break that still has vocals
Work on what you have available. Your eyes and your facial expressions. Have an intense facial expression and look people straight in the eye while you sing. Pick a person to look at and change person every few seconds. Nothing more boring than a frontman who looks out over the crowd the whole time.
Watch Thin Lizzy. The frontman/bassist owns the stage.
Samuel Feinstein if your not playing you can move around
Hi Glenn, do you happen to have any tips on recording and mixing acoustic instruments, like guitar and Cajon?
In my contract clauses I always put in the ability to wear shades and make-out with the lead lady actor as much as I want.
We Built This City has 38,555,249 views last I looked.
Only because it's infamous for sucking so bad.
That's almost as many as you got, Ed...
lol... Thanks Evil!
Most of those are from when people need to laugh at something.
I know mine are.
yeah, it's a LOLfest.
Mark Gormley's "Without You" is an example of the perfect music video.
And finale by polyphia is an example of what not to do
Peter Gabriel's sledgehammer is another 'perfect' vid imho. Probably cost a few quid though lol
I need to check these out! Best music vid for me is Chthonic's Defenders of Bu Tik Palace acoustic version. I just need it to be a feature length film.
I always like Tom Petty's "Don't come around here no more".
What is that Line 6 dismantled amp in the background? :D
See my review of the Spider V
What's a good budget for an indie music video? What's the minimum budget?
As much as you can afford. Minimum: I'll ask
That's called - Close micing cymbals.
NeZversTutorials the mics were pretty close to the ground though they weren't close to the cymbals at all
That's called a fucking crazy ass sound engineer. XD
nikumeru possibly. It was in Jersey City lol the band sounded great so he must be doing something right
Heh, learn how to PREFORM on camera? How about learn how to do captions? Sorry - had to say it! ;)
he has lots of typos....
Is an old, abandoned Mental Institution or Prison a good place for a video?
That's where the music video of Feeling This by Blink-182 was shot at.
Ask Rob Scallon about that one...
more of these please, must be loads of funny stories there, and funny text messages, especially jealous girlfriends :)
Thank you!
Hey Glenn, Any tips on how to get my drumming youtube channel seen by more people, so my channel can grow?
Great video, thanks. Good to get some general media advice.
1:36 wow somebody actually managed to pour something creative out of a Line6 product O.O :D
OMG. That starship video! So freaking bad.
yup, pretty acurate. Proud to say we didn't do any of those mistakes... happy how our vids turned out
ursuletzzzz Should I make a music video containing all mistakes listed in the video?
Mikan Yuuki :)))) well, when you put it like that, it sounds like a challenge
