I'm a white London boy, who is the same age as Nyboma, and I have been listening to Soukous/Rumba, call it what you will... for 40 years, and that is a wonderful wonderful wonderful rendition of Double Double there Mr Keller. Your guitar playing is mind blowingly awesome... syllart records love it too, you must be friggin good
Agreed! I am a white American boy,Soukous/Rumba Congolaise changed my life,30 years ago! This is a great guitarist. Double Double is a classic. My favorite is by Zaiko Langa Langa,”Femme me Pleur Pas” It makes me smile and weep at the same time.
I give him 1000% for covering a piece of music that he has no idea how it originated. He speaks the Universal language and it UNITES! I love his guitaring! Great job my friend!
I think it's likely he has probably read up on the history, and the Sierra Leonian guitar influences and the Ibo Nigerian roots of Doublé Doublé. He definitely respects it. No disrespect to your comment by the way. You're right he plays unbelievablely.
I am Congolese, from DR Congo. Just came across Don Keller's video. This is how it is played. Everything is on point. This guy must be Congolese in disguise. You can't just turn up and play guitar like that as if it isn't a big deal! That is insanity!!!!!!! Big up bro!!!!!!
Not so fast buddy. I think he s Haitian coz I came across a Haitian song he played. OMG this guy is amazing on the guitar. When I grow up I want to play like him. When you say you’re a guitar player, you should be able to play anything guitar. But still my brothers in Africa America Haiti are the guitar kings.
Layered melodies and precision guitar picking all set to an irresistible beat. Don Keller kills it, with his Soukous music mastery. This is African guitar at its best, played by a Canadian. One world, one love. Just the medicine for these times of stress and worry.
How many times has this magical guitar sound brought me out of a dark mood on a depressing winter's day! What incredible talent playing the world's best music. Thank you for all the happiness!
This song reminds me of my deceased eldest sister. Oh Mighty Lord, I wish I could turn back the clock !!! Mama ô doublé doublé. 😭😭😭😭😭 Quality has no fear of time, goes the saying. This song produces in me the same good feeling.
Goodness gracious! This rendition took me right back to the studios of WMBR Cambridge MA in late 80s, where this track was a favorite of our audience at "Africa Now". Bravo, Don!
Don Keller your the best honestly if I have money on my weeding day you will be there live I so much cherish your handwork here.keep it up bro, watching from Vietnam
This song came out in 1981 before Don was born! I remember when it came out . Nyboma had just moved to West Africa. Not sure if Lokassa ya Mbongo or Mombassa Vata participated. Great song. Great effort by Don!! Keep it up.
