I used to work at a bike shop back in the mid 90's and back then we used hair spray VO5, when it's wet is like lube and when it dries after 15 - 30 minutes the grips stick to the bar and to get them off stick a screw driver in the grip and squirt more hair spray in the gap and wiggle them off.
